  1. Yipes! You're right. I'm starting my swing with my shoulders. Shanks' use of the word "bump" jogged my memory of my lessons in the eighties. It just hit me that the pro back then always used the term bump and would tap my hip at the top of my backswing. I've forgotten so much from that time. Plus some of what I remember is now obsolete such as I was taught to raise my left heel on the back swing. Now that's wrong or at least that's what the pro told me last summer. I appreciate this help. Just as valuable as a $50 lesson.
  2. Thanks guys. I realize I may just be looking for a bandaid but hesitating at the top of my backswing makes all the difference. I did not have this problem back in the late eighties and early nineties. The obvious cure is more lessons but I have a problem expressing what I think is wrong with my ball striking both here and to a pro. Thanks again.
  3. No. At least for me, if it's an interesting course it does not get old.
  4. The first issue is searching for a term of 3 letters or less. It does not work here or at any forum. Is there another term I should use to find threads on lag? Crating lag in my swing is my biggest problem. The only way I can cause my hands to pass over the ball before the club face is by hesitating at the top of my back swing. Is this correct or is their a better method of creating lag? Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Phila Golf Show is Feb 12-14. I'll probably go but don't get much out of them unless staying at the linked hotel for a day and a half.. Can't afford that this year.
  6. I was about 16 or over 40 years ago when a neighbor gave me a set of Wilson Tour Blades that he was about to through away. Four about the first ten years all I did was go to a driving range and par 3 courses.
  7. Practice rounds: less crowds and less formal.
  8. Yes, I am jealous. They sure look sweet.
  9. Callaway Diablo 3W and a box of Maxfli Vt4 2009 Golf Balls at Golf Galaxy. The Maxfli's were on sale for $14.98!
  10. Callaway is comming out with two new Diablo woods; the Edge and the Edge Tour. http://www.callawaygolf.com/Global/e...rwayWoods.html I think they will be introduced Feb 15. But based on what I've read both here and in magazines, Titleist is considered a better club for low handicapers.
  11. I guess it varies by manufacturer but there are four degrees of flex: L = Light A = Amateur R = Regular S = Stiff X = Extra Stiff.
  12. Thanks guys, I'm sure you are right. The 5 wood is probably a senior flex even though it had an "R" sticker on the soul. It explains why it was so cheap: $90 and it looked like it was only used for 20 miuntes. The only other issue I have is the Diablo head covers. They fit so tight it's a struggle to get them off. __________________ Edit: In this thread "Shaft Mechanics..." there are two charts that indicate the letter "A" is used for senior or light flex while the letter "L" is used for ladies flex. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...highlight=kick
  13. Last summer I bought a Diablo 5 W regular flex (used but mint condition). Yesterday I bought the Diablo 3 wood regular flex. Both from Golf Galaxy. I just noticed the shafts have the following specs: 3W: Mid Torque Low Kick 60G R Flex 5W: Mid Torque Low Kick 55G A Flex I do know that there are three different stickers for shaft types: S=stiff; R=regular; and, L=senior. Or maybe L=ladies. Does anyone know what "A Flex" means on the 5 wood?
  14. That sums up my opinion perfectly. I like the gossip, but I prefer watching Tiger play golf especially with Mickelson and all the other great players.
  15. CNN is reporting "Elin Nordegren is hoping to save her marriage to Tiger Woods." http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/01/2....html?hpt=Sbin
  16. The conclusions stated in the video are not based on experical research; one test with one golfer. What about another golfer or the same golfer on a different day. I don't remember the name of the author, but I agree with the expression that "golf is the most cerebal of all sports." There are so many variables in a golf swing. Perhaps golf is more art than science.
  17. I'm not qualifed to comment on the video. I do know that warming up the the weighted club definitely helps as compared to warming up with a single club. Most likely, the weighted club reduces the warm up time. The video does make sense to me in that my primary problem is swinging too fast.
  18. I don't see how it could hurt as an alternative to swing with two clubs to warm up. I have the SKLZ weighted club and it's a great help.
  19. As of a few hours ago, the LA Times reported "Tiger Woods won't play in Thousand Oaks, cancels Tuesday news conference."
  20. I'm not qualified to answer because of your hc and I'm just getting back into the game, but there was a poll on irons and Mizuno was clearly the most popular. Check it out here: http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthr...ght=irons+poll

  22. A good session at the range for me will carryover to the course and vice versa. A month ago I had a bad time at the range because I was trying out my new fariway wood. Three days later I played my worse round of the year.
  23. What kind of clubs are you looking at?
  24. The i15 's might have different groves. Otherwise, stay with Ping since you're already comfortable with them.
  25. It does not bother me but it does seem a little imature. On the other hand, if it appeals to teen agers then it's good for the LPGA.
