  1. Also,... if you hit the provisional and don't hit it far you should keep playing it till you get up to the point where the other ball might be found,... this is to keep play moving,... if you find your original ball scoop up the provisional and play on,...
  2. or it's like busting someone's balls and saying they are flexing their muscles and saying you shouldn't boast on this forum when you own name is THE BIRDIEMAN,....
  3. Thanks, I agree, the way I read it that's the way it should be,..... ps,... i tried to be accurrate, I just forgot the fact that the path was in way as well as the post on my first note,...
  4. Thanks,... great thoughts,...
  5. A well tought out response,...thanks.,....///
  6. No worries,... that is what this forum is all about,... Playing the ball down; That means playing the ball as it lies when you find it and not moving it around or bumping it up to a nice fluffy lie. Many people have never played the ball down,... many have never bumped it,... It kinda comes with how you were brought into the game,... I grew up on municiple (public) course and we always flufed out lies,... there was little grass and a good lie was hard to find,... the last several years I've started playing down like real golf,... It's tougher but I like it. scuba
  7. Good luck,... post your score,.... We could actually watch you develop as a golfer right here in "The Sand Trap,..." Looking forward to hearing your story's,... Me,... I started at 15 or so,... that's about 35 years ago,... I still consider myself a hack though,... never got real serious, but playing a lot these ldays, low 80's is good for me,.. I sneak into the high 70's once in a while and do back flips I'm so happy,... it;s the journey into the low 90's that kills me,... I have 2 hole in one's,... those were fun,... GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN,... report back,... scuba
  8. That's just it,... I want throw $20.00 in each and play front/back/total or something but, I want it to be an even playing field,... I don't try to get them to play the ball down when I'm not around them,... so you're right there,... who cares what they do,...
  9. I'm playing today with some friends at a very nice course,.... (it's good to have friends who work at a nice country club) My one friend and I have been playing the ball down lately after years of bumping it,... we're trying to get a feel for how the game is to be played,... my other buddies hate the thought of that. They play pretty good golf too, often shooting in the 70's (me, not so much) So, I'm like,... "come you 70's shooters, lets start palying some real golf and play it down,... " they don't want any part of it,.... they also have a hard time playing the lines right,... (no wonder they shoot in the 70's huh,...) How can I suggest that we do this without starting a fight or getting someone mad,...? scuba
  10. actually the cart path would have been in play on the first ball too,... it was very cloae to the fence post, in other words he would have been standing on the path to address the ball as it laid against the post, so both the post and the path were in question,.. This is where the line,... "a player must take complete (or full) relief,..." comes into play,... he had room to take the relief from both but he didn't like where that put his ball,.. so he wanted to take relief from the post but not from the path, I don't think that is complete/full relief,... please for the haters and people who like to start e-fights,... I'm just trying to learn the rules here, not trying to throw my buddy under the bus or what ever BIRDIE MAN will say about this post.
  11. this is an important part of the question,... and the answer,... I didn't properly state or indicate in the first note that the had the pole not been there he would have been on the path anyway, so he had 2 relief situation at the same time,... he wanted to drop it where the he was still standing on the path, now he'd have relief from the pole but not from the path,.... if he then chose to get relief from the path he would have put himself in a line where some tree's were in play, can he choose to hit it with his feet on the path,...? I know you can if you just walk up to a ball and there it sits near the path, but can you do that after taking a free drop,...? the way i read the rules the answer is no,...???? BTW, I'm only here to learn and share, not here to fight and throw insults around as BIRDIE MAN likes to do,... ( fighting with people you don't know from your computer,... BIRDIE MAN, get a life, or go to the young kids site like YOUTUBE, they have a bunch of haters over there)

  13. Dude, You're the one who needs to relax,... Your name is BIRDIE MAN for crying out loud, isn't that a little self serving,...? According to your thought process having a nic name like that must be flexing your muiscle BIG TIME,... But I don't look at it that way, and I'm glad. You obviously would, you already have. You're looking for a fight I just asked a question,... I got some great responses and interesting views on this topic,... Many of them differ from yours,... I put in my numbers not to flex any muscles but to help tell the story,... You are locked in on my post and then took it to a personal level so if any one needs to learn how to enjoy the Forum maybe you should think about not getting personal and accusing people of stuff,... You're taking it the way you want to take it,... I have no reason to want to impress you are any one here,... So BIRDIE MAN,.... Get off your high horse, you're sitting at a computer calling people out in a golf forum,... ??? You must be tough with a keyboard,... And, the next time you see a "real golf tournement" on tv with pro's palying for PGA stats and all,... let me know,... They even put the par 3 contest on the Masters on tv as a joke,... it doesn't count, they let kids putt in for them,... they joke around, it's fun, but it's not real golf,... in my (and others) opinion.
  14. this was not a movable post,...
  15. check this out,.. http://www.usga.org/questions/faqs/r...idx=96&Rule;=24 watch the vid of payne stewart,... (try the low bandwith button) I think full relief means when you are taking a free drop you must take "full" relief,... if he drops is where his feet are on the path he didn't take full relief,... there was room for him to take full relief away from the cart path, but it put him in line with some trees,...
  16. the guy wh mentioned Bonds on the second one,... I just started the site,... don't know how to get the replys stacked right,...? I hit quick reply to this post,...
  17. tjy355 on the first one,... who said to me,... I commend you on overcoming your physical limitations that prevent you from hitting the ball very far. As far as holes-in-one, I have about 40. Most on this course: http://www.golfland.com/mesa/
  18. it was down hill and dpwn wind,... easy ther cowboy,... and I never said anything under 110 doesn't count,... you may consider learning how to read before you make statements like that,... according to Remy, they count,... good job remy,... I could not find that definition,... Thats why I strarted the thread,... so, they count,... that doesn't mean I have to like it,... but I accept it,...
  19. Dude, Relax,... no not because they are shorter, or you play a lot of holes in a day,... simple,... because it's on a par three course where all the holes are par three's,... Real Golf is not like that,... That is a practice course,... It's like slamming the ball on an 8 ft. rim,... not real basketball,... The induividual shot is good,... no doubt about it,... and it's a hole ine one,... but one done on a non regulation course,... gets an assteric or an explanation,... Do you count your home runs at the batting cage,...? Dude, I don't brag much about the 7 rbi's I had in the first inning one night in softball because it was co-ed and they had a girl in right field who was there for the party not the sport,.. I laced 2 of them down the line and a trotted home with a three run homer (and I was batting third) and then a grandslam all in inning # 9,... When ever I tell the story I make sure to mention that fact,... "there was a girl who didn't know how to play the game in right,..." I exploited her,... give me an asteric,... ****************************************************************
  20. an asteric doesn't mean it doesn't count,... it means there are circumstances to the incident,... they wouldn't put Bonds records in there if they didn't count,.. asteric or not,... if they didn't count I'd just say that,...
  21. You must be king of your playground. Run along,... it's nap time.
  22. Sir, I never said it wasn't a hole in one, as a matter of fact I said it was indeed a hole in one, but one that deserves some consideration with a mention of the fact that you were playing a par 3 course,... (that's not real golf) thus the asteric comment,... Or should we also include out Putt Putt hole in ones,...? In that case I have 427 aces,... If you had 2 legit 300 games bowling, and your buddy got 3 of them with the bumpers in the gutters,... I think you feel the same way about it all,... scuba
  23. My friends ball rolled up against a small fence post near a cart path, the post was not an out of bounds marker or near o.B at all, it held a rope to keep your cart out of the fairway, we both felt he was entitlted to relief, he wanted to take relief (within one club lenght/no closer) between the post and the cart path, but that would leave his feet on the path,... this would give him a clear shot to the green,...I said "you have to take it out towards the fairway and take relief where your feet are not on the path,... (bringing some tree's into play) I don't think you can take relief to a spot where you again need relief when you are getting a free drop,..." he thought "well if I want to stand on the path and hit it I can right,...?" I said "no,... when atking relief you mus take full relief,..." (meaning,... get your feet off that cart path dude,...!) whos' right here,...? also, say your ball is in a lateral hazard, you take your 1 stroke penalty and bring your ball out and you take your 2 club lengths/no closer and that gets you on a cart path and past the center of it giving you relief on the other side of the cart path, in this case you can do that right,...? because you're taking a stroke vs getting a free drop,...? I always remeber this statement,... "Your nearest point of relief is not always your best point of relief,..." scuba st. louis
  24. A long time debate between me and some friends needs your help,... Basically, does a 'hole in one on a par 3 course deserve an asteric by it,... (*) ,...? I have 2 aces, both on regular courses,... But,... (there's always a big but,...) A group of my friends started playing a par 3 course that had lights for night play so these guys would play 27 a night 3 times a week no problem. I didn't like it much (they played skins so if you missed the green you tried to chip it in, and I'd run the chip way past and then miss the par putt,... it sucked,...) so I didn't play all that much. Well a few of them started popping in "hole in one's". My one friend got 2 of them and my brother and arch enemy got one on a 85 yard hole. I had got one a few years earlier on a regular course, it was only 145 yards (sandwedge) but on a regular course, I've since added a 168 yard (8 iron) ace again on a regular course, so I felt mine are legit and these guys put their 'holes' in one' right there in my cataegory. I think they should mention the fact that they got theirs on par 3 courses everytime they spout out about their aces,... in a sense,... those aces should have asterics (*) by them. I know a good shot is a good shot and an ace is an ace, but when your playing the game in a shortened fashion and evrey hole gives you shot at an ace,... there's got to be an asteric,... Like I said, I wouldn't mind it during golf and 'hole in one' talk if they said, "I got an ace, but it was on a par 3 course,... and it was my 25th hole that day,... all short par 3's,..." but they never seem to mention it and when I bring it up they get all mad at me,... What do you all think,...? scuba St. Louis
  25. I would encourage your son to NEVER, EVER throw a club,.... as he probably wasn't aiming for the lake he'll say the same thing when his club slams into someones head on accident,... throwing clubs is a very un-natural movement, the club can fly off to the right or the left of the intended target, it is very common for acts like this top go wrong and someone will get hurt,... you won't be laughin then,... tell him to remember,... "it's not the arrow, it's the Indian,..." or "NOTHING GOOD EVER COMES FROM A THROWN CLUB,..." try looking up injuries caused by thrown glof clubs,... not on youtube but maybe medical journals,... scuba
