  1. I shot an 80 (39/41) at Draper Valley GC. I was hitting the ball fairly well (10 fairways and 10 greens) but i had 36 putts which really hurt me. Its a long course with huge greens so it kinda makes sense though.
  2. yes i play on a high school team. my school is a small private school, and we got a team like 2 years ago, but we are ok. for college i would like to play golf somewhere, but i have no clue how to go about getting my name out and stuff so if anyone has any advice, feel free to give it. But besides the golf i'm thinking of Virginia Tech (since i grew up in bburg), Wake Forest and Grove City College, which is like an hour north of Pittsburg.
  3. i dont think golf is as mental as some people say it is. cuz when u are on the first tee of a big tournament, at least for me, my mind is completely out of it and all i can think of is how nervous i am, yet i've found my first tee shots are just as good as my other ones.
  4. my high school team plays mostly 9 hole matches during the school year. I think this year we have a couple 18 hole ones before school starts and a tournament. unfortunately we're a small private school so we just piggy back on the public school matches. but i think we are going to do really well this year. 4 of our top 5 guys are seniors (including me) and me and another guy should be consistently under 80, so i'm really looking forward to it, hope your team does well
  5. my course, a muncipal course, which is nine holes, is 64.4/109 from the blue tees. Its only 5462 yards and its really easy. But it gets really windy and the greens are tiny. On a wet day i can see where itd be possible to shoot low like that, but when its dry the greens dont hold anything. Personally, i think its easier to shoot par on a course that has a rating of 72 than to shoot something like 6 under on an easy course.
  6. Sorry this is a little late and no one will probably read it, but i had the amazing privelege to go to the Wachovia Championship. It was my first PGA tourney and it was AMAZING. hopefully i'll get to go to more. i went with my friend, golf coach and his son. He was best friends with Joe Durant growing up, so we followed him around all day....if that man could putt he would be one of the greatest players in the world. But anyways we got to go to dinner with Joe on Wednesday night and it was the coolest thing ever. He was just a normal guy, but if you have never been, just once in your life you have to go to the hotel where all the players stay at, it was the Hyatt in Charlotte for this one, and just walk around the lobby. I could literally feel the buzz. Then Joe drove us in his tournament BMW, talk about a great job, oh and he gave me and my friend at free cleveland hat. Talk about a cool job...
  7. My biggest pet peeve is when you lose a ball or are busy looking for your ball and they go ahead and hit and walk up to the green. When i'm playing with my friends i sometimes do it, but none of us really mind i dont think, but when i'm playing in a 36 hole tournament it really bugs me. On one hole i was hitting a shot from 100 yards out, after hitting a ball in the water i believe, and one of the guys in my group was literally tending the flag for me. I was extremely close to either pulling out my 3 iron or trying to purposefully blade my pitching wedge to give him a scare....and i was playing bad enough that day.
  8. Hey my name is Joey, I picked up golf seriously about two years ago. Now i'm 17 and hoping to get good enough to go play in college somewhere. Looking forward to talk to more good golfers, there arent many i know around here.
