  1. Hey, Thanks! Already some really helpful comments there. I know I stiffen up at address and get a bit 'lost' positionally. Interesting point on the swing path. I'll try moving away a tad as the heel hit and the ball position seem to tally up. Also, will try and put another vid up. Thanks again! J
  2. Hi, Obviously my post fell off so will add a line or two... I've been playing "seriously" for ten months, had quite a few lessons and am desperate to improve my driving. Distance I'm happy enough with all things considered (probably about 230 yards carry if I'm honest) but all too often I'm slicing it badly right. Any help or comments would be appreciated! FYI - This swing popped the ball up a bit too high and produced a late fade. Thanks, Josh
  3. I've been Playing Golf for: 10 months My current handicap index or average score is: Golfshake.com says 24 My typical ball flight is: Straight The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Block/Slice right Videos:
  4. Thanks! I'm a bit obsessive compulsive and have had lots of lessons plus practicing 2/3 times a week!
  5. Shot a 93 at my local course on tuesday! Not a great score compared to some of you guys but it was my goal to break 100 within a year of taking up the game and managed to do it in 8 months!! Over the moon! It's made such a huge difference playing with a friend of mine who has a 3 handicap!
  6. Ah OK, thanks! and nice work! gives me a bit of an idea...
  7. Do you mind me asking...what were the scores of the three cards you signed for to get this HI? (which sounds impressive to me!) I don't live near enough to a club to become a member and therefore get an official HI so am trying to get an idea of where I would be! For example, my last three scores over 18 are 101, 100 and 106. So I would assume that my handicap is 28 (highest it can be in the UK).
  8. Thanks Mac, Think that's the way to go. However I can't help but be conscious of when I'm playing well and scores are relatively low! And yes that would irritate me too!! I'll look into recording my swing and uploading to the site. Would really appreciate any advice any one has!
  9. Thanks! Haven't done so yet no... Might prove a challenge to convince my girlfriend to come to the range to video me!!! Will do my best though. I've done quite a lot of reading on the subject but find that the mroe I think about not thinking about it, the more I think about it!? if that makes any coherent sense!?
  10. Hi, New to the site and pretty new to golf. Took it up seriously in Oct last year and my goal is to break 100 by the end of Summer. My issue seems to be an absolute panic/melt down when I think I'm getting anywhere close. Obviously I have mechanical flawes but my local pro seems to think my swing looks in good shape at the range. Interesting though that when he videod me both at the range and then on the course - 15 minutes apart - my swing had changed dramatically! Felt the exact same to me! Anyway, I got to the turn during my last round and realised I had shot 47 (Never before been lower than 50!) and proceeded to shoot 9, 9 and 8 through the next three. managed to get it together a little and shot 105 - included a birdie on the SI 1 par 5! Almost as if, once I'd realised I had no chance of breaking 100 I completely relaxed again and my game came back! If i just shot double bogey on those three nightmare holes i would have shot below 100. Anyone else have this issue??
  11. Cheers fellas!
  12. Underwriter for an Insurance company. At the moment just about managing the golf to work commitments balancing act.
  13. Hi, Pretty new to golf and even newer to golf forums but have been completely bitten by the bug and now look for any excuse to play or talk about the game. Had always been the type who played once a year, shot 125 and put the clubs away until the following annual hack. I had played football (soccer?) at a reasonably high level but injuries put an end to that so finally decided to give golf a serious crack. I've taken lessons and practiced as much as possible and have gone from my control round in October of 119 to shooting 100 a couple of weeks ago at the same course. No great shakes but progress none the less. Anyway, looking forward to chatting about the most frustrating and beautiful game in the world! Brown
