  1. So I'm heading out to Scottsdale again this January and was wondering what courses people would recommend that I haven't played yet. I know that several private clubs are allowing non-members to play so if you have a recommendation please share. Here is where I have already played: Grayhawk- both Troon North- both Wildfire-both We Ko Pa- Cholla McCormick Ranch Ocotillo Legend Trails Thanks for the recommendations.
  2. I've looked everywhere for RLX clothing and other than the Ralph Lauren Website (Way too overpriced) the only place I can find anything is in Marshalls where I get some great deals after searching for an hour if I get lucky. Does anyone know of an online store that carries a wide selection at reasonable prices?
  3. By best golf states I'm going to assume it's based on the best golf, not the most courses or the cheapest courses. 1. California 2. Carolinas 3. Arizona 4. Florida 5. New York- Some may call it bias, I say look at the top 100 course listing
  4. Hands down putting will help the most to get your scores down. If you don't have a practice green go out late one day and on the 18th make a circle around the whole from five feet until you hit every putt from every different break. (Phil drill) If you make it your goal to go a round without 3 putting which may be very difficult you will instantly see a huge decrease. Putting is the one area that most high handicappers always neglect. Just look at when Tiger plays his best its not the GIR's or the fairways that make the difference it's the number of putts that is always the best when he is in contention.
  5. I spent about 2 months of testing all the "tour drivers" because i can hit the ball with enough distance fairly easily, but my control was terrible. I tried the Cobra Pro S9-1 Pro, Ping G-10, Titleist 909D2, and the Taylormade Tour Burner. I was going to buy the Cobra and i went to the range with one of my buddies and tried his 909D3 with Proforce V2 65g Stiff and needless to say I bought one the next day. Hands down the most controllable driver I have ever hit. If price isn't an issue or you can find a good deal on e-bay like I did I would definately suggest getting the D3.
  6. I had a bad sway for about two years until I played with a buddy who told me to take a golf ball and place it under my right heel on the outside. (He also suggested cutting a 2x4 at a 45* angle) Then he said just take your regular swing. It thought he was nuts then I realized that for two years I had been playing with a horrendous hip turn compared to what it should be. If you feel the muscles on the inside of your right leg tighten up you know you're doing it right.
  7. not much of a difference I just tried a bunch and the 2 was my favorite in terms of the weight distribution and my putter stroke.
  8. I agree with most guys about 12', but the best putters I have played with are genuinely surprised when they miss a 25 footer. I chuckled one time when the guy acted surpirsed, but on the next hole he dropped one from 35' and I quickly realized that you need to have that confidence if you want to be a solid putter.
  9. Haha this is a good idea. I'd agree with your assessment, but why are you playing a 3 iron? If you get some extra cash i'd go with a hybrid. Feel free to rate my stuff. (I'm getting a new driver within a few weeks for my b-day Cobra S9-1 Pro S or the Titleist D3?)
  10. I play the 62s and was between them and the 52s for awhile. Both are fairly similar but the ability to work the ball was significantly easier with the 62. Both sets perform phenomenally and if you're a 5 handicap I don't think you'll have any problem playing the long irons. They are easy enough to hit that I recently just started playing the 3 iron and haven't had any problems. I understand your dilemma as I was faced with the same one a few months ago, but I went with the 62s and I haven't once regretted it.
  11. I apologize that my spell check hasn't been set to pick up the names of the sweetest wedge designers in the game. I will refrain from using volkey from now on and VOKEY will be used.
  12. I haven't tried the D2 yet, but I had a chance this afternoon between classes to go demo the Cobra. I was very impressed with the way it felt, but i didn't get a true judge of the ball flight because it was on a monitor. It felt very light even though it has the 65g Matriz Ozik shaft. When I demo it outside I'll let you know, but I'm definately going to get out this weekend and hit both the D2 and S9-1. p.s. the sound was nothing like the older style (aluminum bat) tings cobra was starting to become synonymous with.
  13. I like the volkey better in terms of performance, but the Cleveland wedges are much easier to hit as they don't grab as much. The volkeys took awhile to get used to. depending on how much you play or practice i would recommend the Clevelands if you can't spend hours on the chipping green.
  14. I'm between the Titleist D3 and the Cobra S9-1 Pro and was wondering if anyone had hit the Cobra because I demoed the D3 and liked it a lot but wasn't totally sold. Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Top 5 have to be: Blue Moon Sierra Nevada (surprised no one else threw that one out) Just had the Sam Adams White Ale and it's great! Rising Moon (Blue Moon's Spring Version) Anything from Long Trail (Guy's up north will know what I'm talking about)
