  1. That knockout punch was brutal. All of the energy of the punch got dumped into Hatton's jaw.
  2. Hi All, I have put 4 different shafts into my driver head in the past few months. I hit the ball very high and was trying to bring it down a bit. I ended up with a Graffaloy Red Extra Stiff. My swing speed is 107 mph and I ended up really liking the shaft head combo. That being said I went out to an empty hole the other day to hit about 10 drives with real balls and see how it performed. I was hitting these great mid trajectory draws and they all ended up in the fairway between 275-290. A group rolled up on me right after I hit my last drive and I explained what I was doing. Long story short I was asked to hit one of the guys new drivers with a regular shaft in it. I took a much smoother swing and really tried to make the transition less violent. The first ball I hit with this club ended up landing 30 yards past my best one with my club and rolling another 20. I thought it was a fluke so I hit 2 more with the same result. Does anyone have any insight into why this happened? Also, does anyone with my swing speed use a regular shaft? It really confused me. Thanks!
  3. Some of you may not know of him, but he died today. I saw him a couple of times out in Vegas and man was he fantastic. He also hosted a great charity golf tourney every year. My wife is all broken up
  4. I bought a dozen of the Z-StarX and they are hands down the best ball I have ever played. Things stop on a dime, feel nice and soft off the irons and fly forever.
  5. Overrated: Scotty Cameron Taylor Made Callaway Irons & Balls Pro V 1 Underrated: Wilson Irons Srixon Balls Maltby Iron Heads
  6. I was going to take some shots of the clubs this week and post them. I also built a set of Maltby MTFs and they are sweet. I will let you know when I get them up.
  7. So I built my first set of components last month the Maltby KE4 Tours and after a few tweaks, they worked out great. The other day while surfing the golfworks.com site I impulse bought the MTFs. I had no need for them and it was just impulse. Put a set of S300s into them and the result is one of the most gorgeous irons I have ever held. Took them to the range and beat all of the irons for two hours and they are real players clubs. Thin top line, soft feel, lower ball flight and can hit every shot. Anyone looking to spend $900 on a set of forged irons should look at a set of Maltbys and possibly Snake Eyes. Snake Eyes look just as nice but I have only hit the MTFs.
  8. I would really like to see a merchant vessel able to protect itself. Hopefully some of the complications with port security can be addressed. I also think sending in some decoy ships would be helpful. It would be nice to have some pirate bodies wash ashore at the pirate's home ports.
  9. What is preventing a U.S. flagged container vessel from having a .50 cal on board to ward off pirates? I were to think if a couple of those Tiki rafts got blown to bits, it would make those cockroaches think twice before approaching a U.S. flagged ship.
  10. I once signed on as a single at Ocean Trails (now called Trump) in Palos Verdes. The cast of the movie "Friday" was playing and they let me into one of their groups. It was the most fun I have ever had playing golf. These guys sucked at golf, knew nothing about the rules, but I spent the better part of 5 hours laughing my ass off.
  11. I get off as a single all the time. Wait..... are we talking about golf?
  12. Some of you may know that I built a component set for kicks. For the most part they have all worked well and it was fun. I must say that one club really has surpassed any of my expectations. The Maltby CT250 driver is a winner. It is as good as any OEM driver out there and I would encourage anyone looking to have some fun to pick one up. Order the head and put your fav shaft and grip on it. It is as long as any OEM club, has a satisfying "thawck" sounds and looks and feels great. The entire driver cost me $165 and it will serve me regardless of what irons I am using. Check it out!
  13. I like to bring a portable DVD player and catch up on the latest porn videos. If you really want to speed things up, park your cart next to the green while the group in front of you is putting and read "Soldier of Fortune" while blasting an obnoxious porn video.
  14. Biggest Sports Star in the States: MJ Woods Ali Biggest Sports Star EVER in the World ? Pele There is no debate that on the world stage Pele was the most well known and revered sports figure of all time.
  15. Did not mean to get you worried Black. It was my own lack of foresight that got me. I spent a few hours on the range this morning and it was great experience. I will tell you this however, the Maltby driver I had made is a real winner. I changed to a Snake Eyes Pro Launch shaft on Friday and it is a killer. On Friday at my home course Queens Harbour in Jax, I hit two balls from the tips of the 9th hole with the Maltby and both came to rest right next to the 75 yard sprinkler head. I could have thrown my hat on the ground and it would have covered both balls. 316 with no wind. If you end up liking your KE4 set, check out the CT250 driver head.
  16. Hi Big M, The shaft that I had installed originally was an FST 115 Stepless. It made the club a D-0 and when I reshafted them with S300s they jumped to a D-4.5. I have played S300s for as long as I can remember and when I held the Maltby with an S300 it felt totally different. The ballflight with the FST was a weak cut that went nowhere. It was flat and was at least 15 yards shorter than my Wilsons. Once the S300 went in the ball flight was much higher and carries forever. Thanks for the suggestion as it made building a componenet set worthwhile!
  17. Last week I left a rather unflattering review of the Maltby KE4 Tour. After a few suggestions from fellow forum members I reshafted the set and man did it make a difference. I have never really played a clubhead like the KE4 Tour and it took some getting used to after I reshafted them. They do not have the feel of my MP14's or Deep Red Tour IIs but that was to be expected. They really hit the ball a long way. I took them out to an empty hole yesterday and hit at least 20 shots into the green along with my Wilsons to compare. They are 10 yards longer on each iron and spin the ball much more than I have ever experienced. The best part about them is how they deal with mishits. There were two complete toed shots I hit that started out to to the right but gently curved back and landed directly on line. They also ended going further than a pured shot. I looked at the face of the club afterwards and only half of the ball caught any grooves. I was impressed. I might mess around with them a bit and see if I can play with them. I jumped the gun on my unflattering review and they really are nice clubs that play well.
  18. I think you make a very good point and I will take your advice. What impact do you think a better shaft would have on distance?
  19. My Deep Red Tour IIs are back in the back as of 10 minutes ago. I was at the range this morning giving the Maltbys one last run and they are just terrible.
  20. Everything has been assembled and hit. Here is the 2 minute review: 1) Irons- Total and abosolute POS. Read my full review. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22220 2) Lynx Wedges- Fantastic looking and performance. Not quite the feel I am used to but they are a great club. thumbs up! 3)) Lynx Fairway Woods- They look and feel great. No complaints and head to head against my Sonartech they actually hit the balls as far but much higher. 4) Snake Eyes Hybrids- Never got to him them since it was hard to find a .335 hybrid shaft. 5) Snake Eyes Putter- Feels great and a bargain. I cannot stress enough how crappy those irons are. One thing I did not mention in my longer review is that if you mis-hit the iron out towards the toe, it sends the same shock of pain as you get when hitting an aluminum bat off of the handle on cold day. It actually is very painful. Never had an iron hurt in my life.
  21. Here is why I bought them: http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22142
  22. The winner of this years "crappy" award goes to the Maltby KE4 Tour. I took delivery of 5-pw of these unholy pieces of platypuss feces today. Without exception these could be the worst iron head produced ever. Ever see the movie "Clan of the Cave Bear"? Those guys could have made a better head than the fool who devised the KE4 Tour. It was almost comical how bad these clubs are. They have ZERO FEEL at all. They have the dullest feeling head ever put into a shaft. On top of that they are 15-20 yards shorter on every club than the average OEM set. I insisted that 4 other people (people I know) hit these clubs and each and every one of them had the same disgusted look on their faces. It is amazing....... So after a while I take them out on the course and the distances produced by these POS are so short that you begin to swing out of your shoes to get "normal distance" from them. I hit a Deep Red Tour II 9I 155 yards at 95%. The furthest I could produce a 9I with a KE4 tours was 130 and that was going at it. Dissapointed is not an appropriate word, It was laughable not only to myself but everyone who hit them. They look great at address but feel like you are swinging a sponge at contact.
  23. I was dissapointed that Jacksonville did not make the list. There are some awesome courses and most of them are accesible to the unwashed masses. It might be a little pricey to play Sawgrass but if Joe the Plumber saved his pennies he could play. Golf is a very large part of the Jacksonville culture.... along with fried food and obesity.
  24. Don't forget Baltusrol , Westchester, Quaker Ridge, Bethpage, Maidstone...... (you could go on and on)... The NY metro area has the highest density of wold class courses anywhere in the U.S.
