Well I started self taught/dad teaching me. Now that I'm better I take some lessons on occasion, usually at the beginning of the season. Otherwise I play with a bunch of guys who are at my same level and we help each other.

Golf pants that look like jeans!
Minnesotagolfer replied to Minnesotagolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I respect your opinion willie. I do think that Camillo is a little ridiculous. Ian Poulter is also a little eccentric. A lot of the younger golfers these days have bright colors and what I think are outfits that you wouldn't be caught dead in public with. But we also have to respect what people wear. -
Golf pants that look like jeans!

Wow Roger. Way to just be extremely stereo typical. Yea there are a lot of low budget courses with extremely lax dress codes, but also people out there obviously aren't that good so they just want to have some fun. They also shoot around 64 on 9 so I assume their mindset is, "Why dress up for that?" Any of the regular city courses and of course the country clubs, like I belong too, no one would ever think of wearing jeans and sometimes shorts. My idea of the thread was more of a fashion inquiry about these faux jeans (which are still dress slacks that cost over $150) than a move to a denim revolution. -

Yea thanks guys. They're not actual jeans, they're still dress slacks with some cool stitching. -
Hey everyone. I was watching The Turn on The Golf Channel and they showed golf pants that had jean stitching on them. They looked sweet. I think Justin Rose was wearing them. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew about them or who makes them. Thanks!

Had a little tournament with some guys from the club today. I won it shooting a 69 with the best shot of the day, a hole out from 110 on a par 4 for eagle! You gotta love this game.

I'm getting pressure from my buddies to switch to a hybrid. I love my long irons though. Oh well, today I found myself hitting a whole bunch, you can get them up out of the rough pretty good...we'll see how it goes

TaylorMade TP Balls
Minnesotagolfer replied to Minnesotagolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hey everyone. Thanks for your inputs. Sorry, I'm kind of new and didn't realize there already was a review, but it was good to hear some opinions from some members here. I guess I'll just test drive a few and see how they work, there isn't any harm in doing that now is there...Thanks again to all that replied -
Hello fellow golfers. I was wondering if any of you had a chance to work with the new TaylorMade TP balls at all. I heard some good things about them but I was wondering if anyone could compare them to the Nike Platinum, HX Tour, or Pro V's, or other balls in that class. It's kind of exciting to see TaylorMade balls again after they seemed to disappear off the face of the world for a few years.

Welcome! It sounds like you're off to a great start! Good choice on starting golf, it's a great game

Hey, welcome, I'm also a pretty new member deciding to come out and contribute back to the place I've gotten tips from! Enjoy!

That quote is awesome. That's pretty much all I have to say about that!

What I believe is true about the blades is that they ARE a game improvement club. You are forced to improve your contact point with them to be able to hit them well at all. I wouldn't recommend using them to just practice because I think you might get frustrated. The advantages of the forged muscle backs are to give the player better workability because the offset is less. This also can cause some problems for people because it can be harder for a person to square the face. These clubs are a totally different feel as other members have stated. If you were planning on switching totally to muscle back blade then I would totally be for it because they would force you to improve your swing and contact point. Either that or you'd just get frustrated and quit the game, which is something I don't think anyone here wants you to do. Like aqua said, I'd think sticking with a marking tape you could see your contact and work from there. Best of luck!

need a new club
Minnesotagolfer replied to Newbie Collection Agency's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yea, I agree with Dan. That's probably the easiest and you'd be able to try out all different things. -
Yea, I wound up taking the OB and dropping because I could tell where it went out. For those who were curious I wound up shooting 4 over for that round. And to answer you concerns, I thought they did handle it well I thought that firing them was harsh but I really didn't have any say in the matter, it wasn't my idea or anything. I have been back actually and I joke about it with some people I've become friends with there.

So I was at a local public golf course in my home town, a place where I hardly play and I might not go back because of this event. I was playing a good round the first 3 holes, 1 under, and I was teeing it up on the 4th. It was a windy day and I was planning on keeping to low, maybe hit a 3 iron stinger or some sort of shot like that. Anyway, I go with the 3 iron and there is a maintence crew about 150 yrds in front of me. I stand for awhile and they see me and wave me through but still remain in the middle of the fairway. So I figure that they're all watching me to see where the ball goes. I hit my shot and it feels a little thin, but it's good and all of a sudden, when the ball is over the workers, one of them throws his shovel in the air and hits my ball which results in my ball ricocheting OB. Just so happened that at the same time the ranger was making his way in my direction and witnessed the event. The crew was fired and I got my money back and finished the round, a little stunned and entertained by the whole event.

Yea. You should let me know how it goes. Maybe I'll have to jump back on the wagon and maybe give it a chance. Good luck and have a great 4th too.

Hey JRC welcome. I'm also new, joined yesterday, but planning on contributing a lot to the forum. I have an Odyssey, Duel Force 2. Personally I never could get into the 2 balls, and especially the new 3 ball. It just seemed to distracting. Anyway, enough of my rant, I'm sure it'll go great for you and welcome!

Shot my best round at my home course a summer ago (par 72, 75.0/147) a 69 (34/35). It was one of those rounds where I didn't make any stupid club choice or shot errors. Putting was solid which most players know either makes or breaks your rounds. Looks like some good scores coming in. Keep it up everyone. Happy playing.

I shot a 37/38 for a 75, 3 over at my home course yesterday. It was a beautiful day here in Minnesota, clear blue sky, amazing golf day. I've been trying to get as many rounds in as I can because we're hosting a Nationwide event in a couple of weeks. Happy playing everyone.

For a quick and easy clean that leaves a nice shine...Believe it or not, Windex works like a charm. This is a tip that I've gotten from a pro I know out at a golf training center. I use it all the time!

Haha. Nice meeting you. I know, our 'State Birds' are pretty numerous in the peak of the season.

You might want to be sure that your swing is staying on the same plane. For example make sure you aren't standing up in your swing or dipping down with your knees as this can also be an issue to your chunking and thinning the ball. Good luck!
