  1. I just started reading the short game bible about a month ago, and I have begun to apply his ideas. The three by four system is nice, because it gives me predictabale range. I do have a question regarding the swing speed, though. When you use his system are you supposed to just let the wedge move on its own accord-only gravity moving the wedge to the ball. Or are you supposed to use some force to move the ball. DO you fast swing, or slow swing? Thanks in advance.
  2. So there I was at the office at work, where we have limited internet computers, and so since I was on a break, I googled the net for :Golf Swing Improvment After sifting past the obligatory adult web site links, I found a link for YouTube.com. YouTube is a web site where folks like you and I can upload small videos of ourselfs doing funny and interesting things, like our golf swings. So I looked at some of the videos of golf swings that they had and one of them was the golf swing of the president. There is a preswing statement that the President says, that is politally charged about ufo's, that may be dubbed ( and we shouldn't discuss here) then he drives a golf ball. With out getting into the politics, what do the better players on the forum think of his swing? I though I saw him using a Nike Sasquach driver. His swing seems ok, but it looked rushed. And On a second note, I wonder since this is such a large community of golfers that are technically proficient with computers and other technolgy, would it be practical or possible to post videos of problem swings and other things and get some critique?. Just A Though. Here's to no rain this weekend.
  3. Interesting. I've never seen someone too fast. But I have seen guys that think they are faster than our group, ask to be let through, and wind up being slooooow. Then when you want to be let through, they ignore you. Very annoying.
  4. As long as your "partner" doesn't leave little divots on the greens or the fairways or the rough or the Out of bounds that just a mulligan and a hair from an in bounds shot, she's ok. Cute dog!
  5. I practice my short game a lot, especially wedge shots (just got a new lob wedge http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2596 ) I'm not a big fan of the driving range, because the feed back is not great. If I want to try out a driver, I shoot the range. 70% practice pitching and putting. About 15 % long iron and the rest the driver. However, I do a lot of dry swings in front of the mirror- and not because I'm vain.
  6. At the course I was playing the other day, there was an incident where a golf bag and equipment was stolen. The poor guy said that he left his bag with clubs/ball etc, in the bag drop area, then went in to the office to pay the green fee; when he came back to the bag drop, it was gone. His equipment was worth over 2 thousand dollars . He was trying to get the course managment to pay for his clubs but the course is not responsible for the clubs-you play at your own risk. I over heard this because I was comming to play, and I was going to put my bag at the bag drop area and go pay the fee, like I've done before. I reconsidered and carried my bag with me to pay the green fee. I really don't know what I would do if my equipment was stolen. The course I played is a muni course, not too far from a urban area. One that I don't play often, and probably will never again, since a guy was also robbed a few months ago. So if you want the excitment of golf in nyc, bring a kevlar golf shirt!, and make sure your homeowners insurance is paid up.
  7. I have not noticed much of a difference in ball differnce for different brands and types of balls. I usually play the nike power distance super soft golf ball, because consumer reports stated that it was driven the furthest, and was preferred by pga pros via a blind test. The balls that I find on the course, I clean up and mark with my initials, and in those found balls I have not sensed a differences. However, the lady balls, that I find have a heavier feel when struck, in my opinion, and when I'm having a bad day, I use it for a couple of holes to get some feedback.
  8. It's Weird replying to myself. But I am just in love with my cleveland. It has tour edge on the face which gives good spin. I had the Titlest oil can with spin ridge, good spin but the feel wasn't the same as the 588. First tried the 588, when I hooked up with someone at my home course. I saw it in his bag, and having just read GolfDigest wedge review; I wanted to try it. So i asked this perfect stranger to let me try it. I hit the pin, from 70 yards out. Beat him on the hole with his own club. (did I break some sort of golf edicate? Should I get a penalty stroke for this?). Thanks for the replies on the rust question., and Iacas, thanks to the informative article on rust. The Trap is a great place to hang out.
  9. Just got the Cleveland 588 Wedge 60 degree loft in gun metal finish for 80 dollars at Golfsmith. Really drooling to get to the course and practice a few stop shots, a few draw shots, and a few pin seeker shots. The sticker on the shaft says:" finish may rust when exposed to the elements. Some professional players actually want rust...". Rust on the head, kinda neat. or is it? May I ask the general population on the sand trap to give me their opinion on the 588?
