  1. Two of my best friends make me want to pull my hair out! We started playing at the same time (last spring) and I just took to it quite a bit more naturally than they did. (breaking 100 within the first couple of months) From day one, I was never in to taking mulligans or anything like that. My dad and brother played a lot so i knew it was lame. Well they would take seriously 3 to 4 mulligans per round! One day after they played a round one of them calls me up and is like "dude, i shot 86 today!" (Oh yeah, this is before he had even broken 100!) I said "with how many mulligans?" Him.. "oh, only 1 or 2" Me.. "oh, so then you ACTUALLY shot at least a 90, IF that" He got all heated over it. Later on i talked to the other friend he played with, and he told me that he took NO LESS than 4 mulligans, and played an OB ball incorrectly. (which they both STILL do to this day) This is where I get really heated on the topic. I started kinda talking a little trash about it, saying how lame it was and stuff. So my other friend starts defending him! Saying things like "why are you so competitive?" and "why do you care?" and "just let him play HIS OWN game" Well, ill tell you why I care douche bag... because I (at the time) havent broken 90 yet! So when he calls me up on his high horse telling me he shot 86 when he probably didnt even break 100 it pisses me off. And another thing, there is no HIS OWN GAME! There are rules, we all (or some of us) have to or at least choose to abide by! The game is called GOLF. I seriously went out and got new golf buddies. Im still really good friends with them both, but i rarely play with them after the incident. Luckily my girlfriends best friends fiance plays a lot and is like a 9. So I dont look at it like i lost two golf buddies, I look at it like I gained an actual golfer as a golfing buddy. (which is much better than two cheaters) Its funny too, because I know they talk trash about me like im a nazi or something, but I just laugh when I think about what they must say... "Joe is lame! He plays by the f***ing rules. He sucks!" bwahahahaha! Keep hacking away boys, Ill see you at the county amateur this year, where Im sure they allow mulligans. /RANT P.S. Hopefully this makes sense. I actually got heated typing about it. LOL I could seriously go on FOREVER.
  2. Id been playing for about two months. Stuck it to about 4 feet on a really short 115 yard par 3.... and made the putt obviously!
  3. Id say the same. I dont take a "gimme" unless its seriously 4 inches from the hole and the hole is full of nasty ass rain water. (rains alot where i live)
  4. I cant stand to play in anything but golf shoes. Not only that, but i clean the hell out of them after every round.. even though i know that after the first two holes of the next round (in winter) they will be filthy! Its just something psychological with me.... I have to start the round with freshly cleaned shoes and clubs or I just dont feel right.
  5. Are you F'n kidding me with this?!! Did you not read his post where he said his son was autistic? I didnt see the pic he was referring to, but im sure it was highly offensive to him. You sir, seem to be the biggest piece of crap on the planet! I think you should do us all a favor and quit golf. That'd free up a tee time or two for guys wearing black clothes with skulls. (whom id rather play with everyday and twice on Sundays before you) Also, learn to spell!
  6. Haha! Yeah actually just today. I was about 220 yards out on a Par 5, so i pulled my 5 wood. The "fairway" was really wet and muddy like a soup bowl. I take my shot which felt like kinda bad contact, but not thaaaat bad. I look up but i dont see the ball flying anywhere, so i ask my buddy "did you see where it went?" hes like "no" I honestly thought it went behind me or something. We looked around for a minute or two puzzled and then realized I had crushed it literally about 4 inches straight down into the ground! We had to dig it out with a divot tool. LOL. Pretty damn funny.
  7. Well ill be a S.O.B. i HONESTLY did not know that you have to take stroke and distance on a lost ball. I thought only on a shot that goes OB. (Ive only been playing since last year, cut me some slack!) That sucks though because i kind of pride myself on following the rules. (maybe i should ACTUALLY read them!) I get soooo annoyed when im playing with my friends and they hit one OB and just go up and take a drop. I guess im just as bad! I always take a drop on a lost ball. Damn, i feel like a chump. Although, as you can imagine, i kinda play with some hackers (i take it the most seriously out of the group) so no one has ever told me this rule.
  8. Its not the Tour Burner, just the regular Burner 5 wood. I got it last year so im not sure if its the 08' or 07' model. Right now im playing the Tour Burner driver, Burner 5 and 3 woods, Burner Plus irons 4I-PW, Taylormade 60* wedge, and Rossa Spider putter. EDIT: it is the 2007 5 and 3 wood, i just checked.
  9. I didnt know you werent supposed to post during winter. Sorry for getting off track.
  10. I dont have a single club in my bag that isnt Taylormade. Ive demoed nearly every brand and NOTHING to me feels as pure and buttery as TM. The Burner 5 wood is like hitting the ball with a big aluminum baseball bat. Almost any way you hit it you cant miss. That being said, yes they do come out with too many new clubs... im not complaining though. Taylormade FTW!
  11. How do you guys feel about winter rules? Right now where i live its VERY wet and muddy. Do you feel its cheating if when you pick, clean, and place it you always give yourself a great lie? Do you feel like since its winter rules you should always be able to shuffle the ball around a bit until you get a better lie? This is a grey area to me.
  12. Bandon Dunes baby! Headed up there on the 25th of this month.
  13. meh. dont like it at all. its too rushed for me. he and that Shamwow guy should hang out. LOL
  14. AMEN BROTHER!! seriously. ive only been playing since last June, and a couple of months ago i fell into a slump and seriously would miss 3 out of 5 putts that were in the 3 to 4 foot range. i switched my stance up from having my feet close together and my grip the same as how i hit my irons, to spreading my feet shoulder width apart and separating my hands about 3 inches with my right hand lower and the grip in my right palm. it has DRASTICALLY improved my putting. Like he said, its all about confidence. Now that ive been draining every 3 foot putt i stand over, they seem so much easier due to my new found confidence level.
  15. well, it depends. where i live, in the winter the greens get really really really soft. so wherever you step leaves a pretty decent footprint for awhile until it pops back in shape. so, if your 180 pound buddy steps on your line, it kinda sucks.
