1. Okay, I think I have the embedding figured out. Also, i shortened the video to 50 seconds and featured only 2 of my best swings, i thought that would lighten the load for all you swing professionals out there. Instructor Tips: Less turn in swing- seem to come way too far back in my swing and waste energy More 'On Plane' in the backswing -- i used to go too inside which caused me to come 'over the top' Weight forward during backswing -- probably cant see this in this angle Head behind ball -- probably cant see this in this angle Right hand more on top in backswing to help promote draw ball flight
2. I've been Playing Golf for: 2 Months My current handicap index or average score is: 29 My typical ball flight is: straight/ slight fade(trying to hit draw) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pushing to the right or pulling to the left [rule] Videos: [rule] the embedded feature isn't working on mobile, I'll try to fix when I get access to a computer. also, sorry about the video being vertical not horizontal.
3. Is it normal to not hit well with a certain club? From what I've seen most people can hit clubs fairly consistent but there's always one brand that stands out. I'm going to be testing all the best preforming irons again tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes. So far I've liked the i25 the most. Is it normal for a beginner to be able to hit bladed irons fairly straight?
4. Without sounding like the typical bad golfer who blames their clubs for hitting poorly, I want to say. I can't hit my clubs. About my clubs: All irons are Used Taylormade RocketBladez I got from a friend for dirt cheap. I have a 4i-AW. I Hate the way they look, and I think this is the main reason I can't hit them. In fact, I hate the look of every model of forgiving club out there, I can't stand the wide soles, and the ridiculous cavity backs. I hate to look at them. But, I love the look of blades, but can't really hit them as consistent as the players model cavity backs which luckily, I like. I like smaller cavity backs. So, The last two days I've spent 13 hours hitting "Players" clubs with high success. Let me start by saying that I am not at all suggesting I am a great ball striker or perfect player. Blades I've tried: Nike Vapor Pro(6i) Wilson FG(6i) Mizuno MP67(6i) Callaway Apex MB(6i) Cavity Backs I've Tried: Callaway Apex(6i) Ping i25(6i) I used all 6 irons to show consistent distances and have a better understanding of how I hit each club. and then compared them to my own clubs. I hit 40 balls with each club, and the only thing I tracked were average distance and distance from center. I'll start with my clubs; TAYLORMADE ROCKETBLADEZ Distance(Carry): 204 distance from center: +33 Nike Vapor Pro Distance(Carry): 198 Distance from center: +19y Wilson FG Distance(Carry): 190 Distance from center: +19y Mizuno MP67 Distance(Carry): 187 distance from center: -1y(I hit this one fairly inconsistent but never strayed more than 20 yards from center) Callaway Apex MB Distance(carry): 212 distance from center +21 Callaway Apex Distance(carry): 209 distance from center: +14 Ping i25 Distance(carry): 207 distance from center: +12 As you can see, they distance from center improved with the cavity backs, and so did overall distance. But with my forgiving clubs, everything is pushing to the right and sometimes slicing away. So I thought it could be a contact error, maybe I was hitting it off the toe and pushing it? Impact tape proved a majority of my shots with the Taylormades were from center or near center. Swing issue? i don't know exactly how to test this but wouldn't the less forgiving clubs make it worse? Confidence issue? Here's where it gets interesting. I am more confident in my ability to play with irons that are less forgiving. I don't know why. So as I search for the cause of my poor shots, I'll keep this thread updated. My results not be successful to some of you, but for someone who just started to months ago to stay writhing 20 yards of center, I think that's a big improvement. Let me know what I should test next, or what clubs to try. EDIT: I am taking lessons, and my instructor is all for having me buy non forgiving clubs to use, if I think I'm more confident with them.
5. on Saturday I was at a 325 yard par4 and the hole is a strong dogleg right. so knowing how badly I sliced my driver, I figured hitting it would slice it into the fairway. I had already done this once that day and missed a 30' putt for birdie and ended up just barely sinking my par putt., anyway, boy was I wrong about the slice, I pummeled it straight forward well past the Hazard into the swampy trees. I Took a drop in the designated drop zone next to the Hazard, and had a 201 yard approach. It's a 6 iron for me. now a note about my thought on this particular shot. the drop zone is set up behind the trees in a little cove almost, right where the Hazard stake was. I decided to hit a draw on this blind shot. I hit the ball a little bit fat but it only landed 2 yards from the green, and rolled, and rolled, and rolled, until it was 6 inches from the pin. best shot of the month for me
6. I read some pretty interesting reviews that said they're just for mental confidence in your ball striking and don't actually help strike the ball better. Maybe I should just get a blade iron? Just a single iron for practice.
7. this is exactly the product he was talking about. I couldn't remember the name and thought he actually meant miura. thank you!
8. My instructor wanted me to try to find a single club with a smaller club head than usual so I can use it in my lesson to help square up the ball on impact. aside from the 1500$+ miura clubs does anyone know of any clubs that are small?
9. I have a Cobra Bobby Grace "Soft Lady" putter. I've tried many things the past two months but I can't part from it.
10. do you have any advice on whether I should stay with GolfTec or go to the PGA instructor at Mistwood?
11. I think I'll definitely start doing this; about how far should I be? just off the green or about 10-15 yards off?
12. Hi, I'm new here. A friend referred me. Anyway, I just started playing about 2 months ago and got a friends pair of handmedown Taylormade RBladez. I am taking lessons because my dad who them at a business raffle and had no intention on using them so I took them, and right away I noticed that I have really good distances with all my irons, but terrible consistency. My instructor says my swing is pretty good, but a little too inside and over the top so I've been working on fixing that. The last time I went to my instructor he made no swing changes just made me turn my feet out a little and my shots got a little more accurate, but nothing spectacular. But every time I go to the course, I start slicing , or hitting the ground too much, or topping the ball, or this, or that, you name it. My instructor says I have pure natural talent and if I put the effort in I could make it pretty high in the golf world. I spend 1 day a week at my lessons and 2 a week at the range and 1 a week playing. I think I want to go to lessons twice a week and the range once and play a round once. Please help me stop from quitting what everyone says I have potential to be good at. EDIT: I'm also thinking about taking lessons at Mistwood Golf Course with a PGA instructor instead of GolfTec.
