  1. I hit my tee shot and then realized I'd let the guys behind me play through. I hit a 210 yard drive (I'm 14, 5'2 95 lbs.) The two guys I let play through swaggered over to the tee box and both pulled out their drivers. Both guys were prolly 190 lbs. and mildly athletic. They hit their shots and thanked me for letting them play through, so I then followed them down the fairway where they saw my ball and kept saying good shot, but I was a distance behind them and had no idea. Turns out I drove the ball 40 yds further than them. At that moment I felt awesome and ending up with par (Missed my birdie putt by 2 inches). Both guys were pretty amazed and It really gave me hope I could become decent at the game haha.
  2. I'm currently using the Ogio Ozone bag and I really do like it. The Ogio bag has tons of pockets. I keep my cell, Zune, and wallet in one compartment. A Jacket in another, gloves/hand warmers in another, balls in another (Everything has a zipper). I could go for days but I can sort out exactly where everything should be. The club management is 7.5/10 Maybe an 8. It works great, but sometimes things get a bit crowded and its hard to put clubs back. However my biggest love of this bag is the 3-ball silo. It's awesome to say the least. I keep 3 balls in there at all times and if you carry you can just reach behind you and grab a ball anytime. Last but not least the Ogio back doesn't have a cooler :( But I still think it's a great bag.
  3. I like the driver a lot, the 13* is the most common driver on ebay at the moment, but im sure you can find a lower lofted driver if needed.
  4. For the driver I'd suggest you take a look at Nickent or on ebay Nike Sasquatchs and Sumo 5000's are going for about $100. I just bought a New Nike 13* Sasquatch with a UST V2 shaft, Nickent 3DX DC 17* Hybrid (slightly used) and New Nickent 20 3DX RC 20* Hybrid for $185 all together. Great deal! Just shop around read reviews and do your best to find the best deal
  5. I'm an 8th grader (Old for my grade), but I plan to in High School. I've got a few friends that also plan to but I can really only see me and one other ever making it on Varsity. The nice thing although is my History teacher is a Master Teaching Pro and I happen to be a favorite student. Sadly theres no "Discount" for lessons with him, but he used to be the High School coach and won state 6 times. I wish your son the best of luck and I also have created a preshot putting routine, just need to get a driving and iron routine down.
  6. I'm 14 too and just seriously getting into golf, and I'm thrilled to here of your son's progress. He definitly is playing better than me, but at one point was at my skill level. Can't wait to hear more and Best of Luck!
  7. Hey Baraethon, I'm in your boat too. Im about 5'1-5'2 and 14. I also am a short hitter. I can sometimes average a nice 200 yard drive, but I'm usually 165-180. I still play from the mens and usually can par/bogey most holes. I actually find myself losing strokes on my short game. (On my driving it really just differs, I haven't visited the range yet here in WI just the putting green. In Florida however I was hitting 200 carry with a 3 wood off the tee.) I usually use these clubs for 350 yd Par 4s Driver 3 wood SW The driver will usually carry about 185, not 100% sure since In Florida I hit about 215. The 3 wood is usually 160. Then I usually have a 15-25 yard chip. The biggest way to beat this disadvantage is your chipping. I work on putting more than anything else, but I need to get my chipping dead on. It's hard to rely on the short game so much, but once I and you grow more we'll reap the benefits. Keep me updated on how your doing love to hear about someone in the same situation. Also to the people who said weight lifting, I agree I'm ready for it. My family is naturally short, my dad is 5'9 but he grew 4 inches in college. My brother is a Freshman in college now and has grown an inch already. My mom is only 5'1 so I might've got the bad end of the deal though... Happy hitting!
  8. I live in Northern WI, I've been out 5 times this year starting since March 26th. Three of the five times was about 30 degrees with a real feel of 20-25 degrees. All three days I was the only person at the course. The good news is its supposed to get close to 60 this weekend!
  9. Neat Idea, I'll be joining the golf team next year and live in WI so I can relate to your cold weather troubles! Best of Luck to you
  10. 2009 personal goals for me go like this: ___ Beat bestfriend in golf. ___ Beat everyone in my golf group. ___ Establish a real handicap. ___ Practice an average of 5 days a week starting as soon as its 60+ degrees. ___ Play in 5 tournaments (Atleast one in minnesota) ___ Place in Top 10 in 3 of the tournaments. ___ Keep track of my statistics. ___ 60% of fairways from tees. ___ 55% GIR. ___ 50% of first putts. ___ Shoot a 40 on a 9 and 82 or better on 18. ___ Develop a tournament mentality. ___ Do everything while still excelling at soccer. (Copied chart by JCDot33 Thanks!)
  11. Well at the moment I have a real no name set and am missing LW, SW, 9 Iron (Brother thought it'd be hilarious to hit it against a tree) and 4 iron. I want to get a real nice set ex. Callaway, Taylormade, Mizuno but I think if I just got something cheaper from Dicks or something thats cheaper. I really only have like $500-600 and I'd like a better set, but still get lots of time in for lessons and maybe a very good putter since it's the best part of my game. If anyone has any sets or recommendations for a cheap set ($250 and under) Then please say so. Thanks for the responses!
  12. I'm stuck at the moment. I want to know other golfers opinions on wether I should get new clubs or lessons? Right now I have no name clubs and I feel they are holding me back, but I'm also quite new to the game and need to get better swing and improve my chipping. So if you had to decide would you take like 5 lessons or some new irons? (The lessons would be cheaper too, if that plays a part) Thanks!
  13. Thanks for clearing this up for me .
  14. Turns out I know the Manager's relative. (It's either his son or grandson I'm thinking.) I just applied, but It didnt ask for my age, so well see!
  15. Well I have two contacts with a pro and his wife, who both have taught me in school and the pro is my SS teacher at the moment. However he doesn't really work at the golf course by me, however his wife is the Girls High School coach so I could definitely put her as a reference.
