  1. HEY, YOU KNOW WHAT BUDDY! Before you go bashing the iphone and its service, contracts, price, bla bla bla... maybe you should do a little research and... yeah... I pay about $108 a month... you got me. crap
  2. If you meant R7, I found them brand new on ebay, stiff steel for $355. Free Shipping. Place called golfclubliquidators.com Speaking of... has anyone every bought irons on ebay? I've seen some buyer beware kinda stuff out there, warning about fake clubs. Come on, I know people sell fake purses and clothing... but are there that many fake clubs out there? If so, how do you tell if they are legit... the one I'm looking at is golfclubliquidators.com
  3. Maybe I should get the r7 irons anyway since I feel bad for Kenny Perry... Poor fella
  4. anyone else use the r7 irons?
  5. So then your vote would be go with the r7 irons over the new burner irons?
  6. You hockey players... haha, my best friend here played college and for our semi-pro team last year... I love hockey but I can't skate... guess it has something to do with being in the south, my dad's from detroit and played as a kid
  7. I'm not quite a 30 handicap, I just put that because I've never figured it out. I'm trying to do that now... I've had a couple lessons but definitely want more. I guess saving 350 would be a good idea. I just didn't want to go backwards if technology is progressing... surely the burner irons cant be that much better than the r7
  8. P.S. The website is golfclubliquidators.com for those interested. Any ever bought from them? They seem legit and have a 6548 rating on ebay.
  9. I've demoed the 09 burner irons and I really like them... but being brand new they are 699.99. I know that a lot of people are clearing out the r7 irons and I found a place online selling a set of steel, stiff r7 irons (4-aw) for 369.99 with free shipping. Were talking more than half the price. Which would be of more value to you? Has anyone played the r7 irons? If you haven't seen the marketing for the burner irons you don't pay attention to much golf stuff on tv or in magazines! haha, they are longer, lighter shafts and built as individual irons instead of set. But will they be 330 dollars better than the r7's? What's your take?
  10. I like mallets as well and I have ordered a scotty fastback... it just makes you feel confident and I was on with it on an indoor practice green. The taylormade inserts do feel great and give the ball a nice roll. I like the itsy bitsy and the fontana. As a shameless plug, you can find a used scotty cameron red x in the marketplace being sold by yours truly.
  11. That's a good attitude and just wanting to really get better is a good thing. I'm trying too! I have been know to hit a slice that's more like a 90 degree angle to the right.
  12. Says the guy who uses iGolf Caddie II which is 229.99 on golfsmith... that's technology right? Some might call it a little toy but it helps you with your golf game so it's useful to you. The iPhone is the same way. The maps app uses gps as well and has been useful on trips giving me turn by turn directions. Plus people can check email, track deliveries, etc... even a construction worker could use the level app. The accelerometer is pretty sweet. It's good for business people and people who do just want to "play" on it. Stop hatin just because it doesn't appeal to you.
  13. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk, your'e swing may not be ugly at all, you just never know till ya go get it on video. Plus a pro can always give you useful advice and tips.
  14. I've played baseball since I was 4 and sometimes I can look at people hitting drives and say, yep, he might have been a baseball player. Being a baseball player myself, I can vouch that lessons from a pro are worth the money... I've only had two, but he started with my grip and then helped me get my swing more on plane. You never realize how ugly your swing may or may not be until you see it on video. I would recommend lessons over anything else... but a new driver could be a good thing.
  15. To be sure were on the same page... I rarely hit a full shot with a 64. So if I had to get over trees it's definitely not what I'm going to use. I primarily use it for flop shots around the green, trying to stick it close. About Phil... I am going to get a gap wedge of 52... so I'll use 52, 56, and 64. 56 for chipping and when there is no trouble between me and the flag... 64 for flop shots. Phil carries a 52, 56, 60, and 64. Why would you need a 60 and a 64? Wouldn't one or the other get it done? But hey, he makes mega bucks playing golf... I pay mega bucks to play golf.
  16. I don't disagree with you. I've often heard that higher lofted wedges, even 60*, are for better players. But for some reason I'm better with my 64 than my 56. I think it's partly do to the fact that you can just play a nice pitch shot or chip without having to open the face because it's already lofted so high. Therefore you just make your normal chip or pitch swing and it'll get the ball up for you, eliminating some adjustments. I only use it when close to the green and need the ball to.. well... flop... although this one is old and doesn't spin much so you have to account for some roll.
  17. I have a 64* and love it. I don't understand why people are so scared of high lofted clubs. I think I hit it much better than my 56* but part of that is just because I simply suck with my 56. If you want a flop shot around the green the 64 will get it up in the air... I've even used it out the sand with much success. I stumbled upon mine though. I used to work at a nice golf course in Huntsville (part of the robert trent jones golf trail) and it was a lost and found club that had been there for so long they let me have it. It's an old mcgregor... Might upgrade to a 64* vokey some day.
  18. You want to add a red x to your collection? haha...
  19. Question about mallet putters. I tried a rossa fontana and the itsy bitsy spider. To me, the ball starts rolling forward much sooner than my red x. This could be because the ball jumps off the face of the taylormade agsi insert, therefore I could tap it, even for a long putt as to where the red x requires a little more of a stroke. Anyways, it seems as though my red x causes the ball to skid noticeably at first and then roll. Any suggestions on a new mallet putter? I like the red x but feel like others may get the ball rolling better. The itsy bitsy is intriguing but so is the cameron fastback as well as some odyssey mallet designs
  20. If it is indeed slushy, definitely wear the black shoes! I wore all white shoes the other day in slushy conditions... wow, big mistake.. How do you clean white leather? On the other hand, I try not to wear black shoes with shorts, but if you do, just wear black socks... just make birdies and no one will care! But if you bogey every hole someone might call the fashion police.
  21. I have been using a 35" cameron red x, and I'm about to sell it and upgrade to a fastback. I notice sometimes that I scrub the ground with my red x, therefore I choke way down on it. I'm not sure if I choke down on it because it helps me not scrub the ground or if it's because I like my right hand to hang off the grip and actually hold the shaft to get more feel. I know I have a straight back and straight through putting stroke. So without getting fitted is there a typical length putter for a certain height? I was leaning towards a 34 this time but if I do wanna hold the shaft I'll have to bend my back further over as to where I can stand up straighter with a 35... but I thought the 35 was too long. Any suggestions? How tall are you and how long is your putter? I'm 5'9 or 5'10 and I'm about to make an investment in a putter that I plan on using for many years to come. Any opinions are welcomed and appreciated.
  22. Following golf more closely this year than I ever have, I'm noticing how often the gallery actually helps players. Maybe it's because I'm watching golf so much now, but a lot of times, a stray ball is kept closer to the green or the fairway by bouncing off of a spectator. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe off the fairway the rough would slow it down anyway, but around the green I bet hitting a fan keeps the ball 10 or so yards closer than it would have been, sometimes maybe more. Also makes me realize that when you are lining a fairway you have got to pay attention to the guy teeing off and try to track the ball to keep yourself from getting hit. Just wondering if anyone else has observed this?
  23. got ya, I think I get it... I appreciate it everybody
  24. So if JB Holmes' ball had hit the rough on the other side of the red stake, and roll backwards into the water... he could have dropped within two club lengths on the others side of the water where it went in because it did cross land again? But since it never crossed land again after initially leaving the tee box, he couldn't do that... correct?
  25. So, I'm a little confused. I think I have been mistaken on drops and hazards all along. Please don't site me to a rule book because I'd rather get an answer in plain english than read a whole page. At the Shell Houston Open on the playoff hole, JB Holmes hit his drive in the water, then hit shot number 3 off the tee. Is there ever a time you hit a drive in a hazard and drop from the area it went in the water or OB? There is a par 3, 197 with a lot of water in between the tee and green at the course I play. The tee has a sign that says in an effort to speed up play, please play shots that go in the hazard from the drop zone, which is closer to the green. So is there ever a time you drop where your drive went in the water rather than hit another one off the tee? I mean, not that it really matters to me cuz I always hit it in the fairway, but my friend wants to know... Also, ball is on the cartpath... you can drop it a club length away from cart path no nearer to the whole? Do you lose a stroke? Does no nearer basically mean drop it further away, or back from where it was?
