This is exactly on point. Really teaches you how it feels to hit certain distances, especially putting because the 2D visual reference is not a reliable reference when putting on a simulator. I have been playing on indoor sims for a number of years now and without a doubt my game has improved because of it. I would say that I benefit from around 10 strokes indoors vs outdoors, so just keep that in mind. But distances are very accurate in both situations, so you really get to know your clubs on simulators.

Yeah, I already started looking for a 54*. The gap between my Gap Wedge (50*) and 58* is too large!
-
Just picked up a slightly used Callaway X Series Jaws 58/8 My other wedge is a worn out Cleveland DSG 56/14 Looking forward to getting out there and playing it. Most the courses I play have hard sand, so this should help me with those awful bunker shots. Mind you, last Saturday with the DSG hit one perfect out the bunker to sink it for a birdie on a par 3. Now on the hunt for a 54 degree wedge as well

Wanted one for years, but couldn't justify the cost. My brothers chipped in together and bought it for my 40th birthday! Love playing it. Distance control is excellent.

Thanks! Sorry for typo on Jordan's name, but as you can see on the title I had it correct there ;)

I will be using my convertible alot this summer to go to my golf rounds. It is a mid 2000 BMW, so has a smallish trunk. The few times I used it last year I was able to fit my Callaway full cart bag and CaddyTek 13 cart, but it wasn't ideal. I would like a smaller cart + bag setup. Any suggestions?

Ah, you are probably correct. Did anyone happen to see it and what his gross score was?

According to TMZ, Phelps beat Jordon by 1 stroke, shooting a 72! I don't get the Golf Channel, but for those of you that do, has he improved that much on the Haney Project?

I will spending a week in a townhouse right next to Highlands Reserve. How is this course? Are there other nice courses in the area? I will be playing as a single.

My brother and I are thinking of taking 3-4 day golf trip. We live in Montreal, Canada and would prefer to drive. How far south along the eastern seaboard do we have to go to find courses that are open? I was thinking Virginia, but are there any courses open north of that that time of year? Thanks.

So for my 40th birthday my brothers got together and purchased the perfect gift. Something I longed to have, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on. Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 putter. It looks and feels amazing! Can't wait to try out, but courses have already closed in my area for the winter. It will be a long winter if I don't play anywhere this winter! Also my wife agreed and a couple of months ago we purchased a BMW convertible for me 40th!!!! What a way to start my 40s! BMW in the garage and Scotty in the bag!

Shot an 89 with 1 quadruple bogey on a par 3 to boot! Conditions were hot, humid with dry hard grounds. Made for extra long drives, but had to really control approach shots because they would just bounce off the greens! I have shot many under 45 9 holes rounds, but was never able to keep it going for 18. I also had my longest drive ever, thanks to the above mentioned conditions: On a Par 5, the tee box is elevated, at around 175 yards the the fairway drops out of site. Normally I catch the slope and the ball rolls down to around 240-250 (+20 over my avg), but with the fairway so dry and hard and the air so good for distance, I carried over 230 and bounced and rolled down to about 300!!! I was 125 yards out on my second shot!!!!! I was so excited, that I couldn't finish the whole without a few mishits. Finished it +1, kinda sucked, but emotions got the best of me on that hole. All things considered this could have been an easy 85 round, just 2 holes held me back! Had to come here and blurt it out, don't have many golf buddies that care or even understand what breaking 90 means! Happy golfing everyone
-
I chickened out and brought the driver with me. Didn't hit it that terribly. Shot a 92 with the 1 triple and a1 quadruple bogey on holes 2 and 18. I've hit it better in the past, but overall wasn't so bad and my 2 blowup holes were not attributed to the the driver....work in progress.

A few years ago I played a couple of rounds with only 4 clubs, 5i, 7i, 9i and putter. Played within a few strokes of my normal score. Tomorrow I leave the driver home. Next week I'll work on it.

I've always preferred playing every club in the bag. I am a believer of being able to hit all my clubs. However this spring my driver has been less then reliable. I am fighting a constant slice that when I finally think I corrected it, creeps back in next round. Earlier this week I played an afternoon round with my bro. I shot a +17 on the front nine with 2 triples and a quadruple thanks to errand drives. Around hole 8 I decided to stop using my driver and use my 3 wood off the tee. +10 on back nine with 1 triple (should have been a bogey, momentary lapse). Tomorrow I am playing a round and seriously considering leaving my driver home, so that I won't be tempted to use it. How many of you do this? I know my nephew never plays a driver, doesn't even carry it and he plays low 90s on a regular basis. Leave driver out of bag or hit and hope for the best?

Had a great birdie on a Par 5 today. 475 yards. Uphill until 300 yards and then slightly downhill. Drove it around 250 right side of fairway, was around 215-220 out but couldn't actually see the green because of the tall rise still ahead of me. Had my brother go to the top of the rise to make sure it was all clear on the green and to point out a target for me. Knocked my 3 wood right on my line and landed on the front edge of the green! Had a 50 foot putt left for eagle. I was putting decently all day so I felt good about it. Sighted my line and went for it. Left to right break. I stroked it pure, but as I was watching the ball roll the break wasn't taking, then in the last 10 feet the ball started breaking slowly and stopped 6 inches short of the hole right on the line to drop! Tap in birdie! Was very pleased with the hole but in particular my second shot to hit the green and my putt, to get it within 6 inches from 50 feet out on a large breaking green (I was aiming about 6 feet left of the hole) was great! Finished the round with a 92 even after a disastrous triple and quadruple that started my round! Good day of golf today

My latest acquisition.

That was my original thought as well, but bag is too high up on the cart. I'd have to have the camera up another foot or so to get the shot. Obviously I'll try different camera positions when I get out there. -
Seriously though, I can see this getting old after a couple rounds - at least for Nick's friends
I hope that I can accomplish my goals filming with the least amount of intrusion into the game, otherwise I won't don't it. I do normally keep a pretty good pace, so I see no issues with this. My cart will simply be about 10-12 feet directly behind me and when I'll pull my club out of the bag i will hit record. The only issue is for my drives, I don't see how I can get a shot from behind, most tee boxes are too small and elevated, so I'll probably just try to setup face-on or from behind recording, but not stressing on that too much, it's more for the iron play I want to really try to groove that it as much as possible. This is just an experiment. I'll let you know how it works out as soon as I play a round. -
I purchased a Kodak Play Sport camera to record my golf swing and decided that I want to record all my shots during my rounds of golf. That way I could look back and see why I mishit some and what I do right when I hit them pure. I figured at around 60 strokes (minus the putting) that should require about 30 minutes of recording and edited down to about 10 minutes of actual swings with quick results comments. So I needed to set something up that allows me to just hit record and not have to worry about it. I decided mounting the camera on my pull cart was the best solution. Here are the results, untested, golf season is just about to start up here. What do you guys think? Quote: Your TaylorMade clubs are gonna stage a nasty revolution! I hope not :) I was really debating on getting this bag, but in the end I saw it as a bag made by a company named Callaway, not a club maker selling a branded bag. It was the best bag I can find for $100 in my area. I wanted a Taylor Made bag, but at $200 for the same caliber I couldn't justify it to my clubs

Need recommendation on push cart
NickDarius replied to turtleback's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
My wife purchased this Caddy Tek 13.5 with the umbrella attachment for me last November (my BDay gift). She paid it $99 CDN at Costco. http://www.caddytek.com/caddytek/product/view.aspx?pid=3 I haven't used it yet, but it sure feels solid and folds down to a small footprint! -
I just picked this up. I don't play a single Callaway club, but for $100 it is the best deal I could find on a decent cart bag. I guess now I will have to play Callaway balls to justify it. :) Itching for the start of the season up here, but there is still so much snow on the ground!

Cart & clubs branding
NickDarius replied to NickDarius's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Here it is. It's really a nice bag, especially for the money. I guess I will look at it as a golf bag made by Callaway, not a club maker's golf bag. A small nuance, but I can live with it. -

OK, so I bit the bullet and bought it. I figure I'd take it home, put my clubs in it, try on my new push cart and if everything "fits" well I'll keep it. Costco has a 30 day refund policy.
