I'm 21. Started about 5 or 6 years ago playing casually because we didn't have a golf team at our high school unfortunately. Started getting more serious this past summer and have been itching to get back out and play some good golf this summer!

Recommendations for a new cart bag?

I've never had problems with anything getting wet either. I just throw ice in it and I don't have to worry about it. -

I've got the same bag and I absolutely love the thing! Good bag. I really love the full length dividers, it makes everything so much easier! I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone. -
Got any pictures of your irons after you shined them up?

Swapping 3 wood for Hybrid?
HookEmHorns replied to HookEmHorns's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thank you jayt0625! I didn't know they made 1hybrids. But I may have to make a trip to the city this weekend to give one a shot. Thanks again! -
Swapping 3 wood for Hybrid?
HookEmHorns replied to HookEmHorns's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm looking at the Cobra Baffler hybrids. The DWS or the TWS (by the way what is the difference?). They offer a 17* 2 hybrid so I might look at one of those but I also may just get rid of my 3 wood alltogether. I don't really see much of a need for a 2* difference.... But out of the rough I guess the 2 hybrid may be easier for me to hit than the 5 wood... Very tough call indeed. -
Swapping 3 wood for Hybrid?
HookEmHorns replied to HookEmHorns's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Nope I can't hit my 3wood off the fairway. It is a generic walmart piece of crap so I am going to replace it anyway. I use my 5wood and just lay up on par 5s because I don't like the 3wood at all. -
Swapping 3 wood for Hybrid?
HookEmHorns replied to HookEmHorns's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks guys. I am getting more consistent with my driver so I am probably going to phase out the 3 wood I currently have.. I still need to buy some wedges for closer to the green where it would help a lot. I usually don't even need the 3 wood because the 5 wood is so versatile for me... I think the 3 wood can just stay home next time and I will see how that goes. I don't think I've used it the past 3 rounds or so anyway. haha. Thanks again for the help guys! -
Swapping 3 wood for Hybrid?
HookEmHorns replied to HookEmHorns's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would have if I had been in the game that long. The only reason I bought my 5 wood is because my first one broke... That was a few years ago though. I'm not above swapping out the 5 wood or just getting a hybrid to fit in between the 5 wood and 4 iron... Any suggestions? I can actually hit the 5 wood pretty decently so I really hate to get rid of it. -
I love the e5's. I use them and I feel like it has helped my game out quite a bit. I can put a lot of spin on it and I only have a GW for my short game. I put enough spin on it to get the ball to stop pretty quickly. I like the B330 RX as well, but it is too expensive for me for right now as I still lose a couple every other round or so. But I would definitely recommend the e5 and the B330 to anyone. Hope this helps a little

Hey y'all, At the beginning of the summer, I set out on a quest to get rid of all of my Rawlings gear and get some real golf clubs and I am now down to getting the 3 wood out of my bag. I've gotten rid of everything and my scorecard is showing the improvement as well. My question is should I get a different 3 wood or put in a hybrid club? I usually use the 3 wood off the tee and I rarely use it from the fairways because I don't trust the one I have now. I have a 5 wood that I absolutely love but I think Nike quit making the Ignite series fairway woods... I'm looking at going to Cobra for a hybrid and I don't know the difference between the DWS and the TWS baffler hybrids. Could someone explain this to me? And what should I get in the way of loft? Thanks for any and all help guys!

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
HookEmHorns replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Last trip was today and I picked up my new Rossa Corza Ghost putter. I absolutely LOVE this thing! I picked up my new callaway 14 extreme cart bag yesterday and it is pretty nice too... But it won't take strokes off my play... haha. -
Yesterday I got paired with complete strangers and I actually played my best round of golf this year and possibly my best round during my short history of playing. I really get nervous when I'm playing around people I don't know and if there are people behind me I can't stand holding them up so I usually have to let them play through, no matter how long that may take... I guess when I'm with my friends I try to show off or play like I know what I'm doing or something. haha.

My blowup hole happens on about hole 16 or later... Especially now that it is extremely hot and humid out. I get tired and lose focus and my mechanics break down. Sometimes I recover, but usually I'm not that lucky haha. Usually starts with a bad tee shot that gets the nasty slice back, then I hit a shot fat or something and by the time I get to the green I'm so frustrated that I have to putt at least 4 times.

ProV1X compared to Nike One Tour
HookEmHorns replied to mitremark's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I played both today and I really liked the Nike ball. The titleist was too much for me and had too much sidespin for my driver and such. The Nike worked pretty good for me and it had a scuff on one side of it. I liked it a lot and it worked great getting on the green and sticking pretty well. -
I played 18 straight today and finally broke 100! I shot a 98, with about three holes I got par. Had some chances at birdie but I have no confidence in my putter... Thinking I need to upgrade from my old Rawlings POS putter... haha. If I could have finished as strongly as I started I may have been able to get closer to 90 or a little below... Oh well, I guess I will see what tomorrow brings to see if I can get another round in.

Yeah I love that Ghost putter. By far the best looking I think. I'm leaning toward getting that one.

Hey y'all, I know I may sound completely stupid but what is the deal for all the different putter types? I mean blade putters, mallet putters, belly putters, etc. Are the different putters for different putting stroke types? For example, my putting stroke goes straight back and forth so what type of putter is good for that? I've seen so many different putters and I don't know what to look for in my next new putter. Thanks in advance! HookEmHorns

You would probably be surprised how many they sell at $480 though. They tell people they won't come down because most people don't notice that prices fall so fast when the new models come out. That way Nike can get a huge profit off their new clubs while they can. Absolutely ridiculous that they do try to charge people that much for a drive though.

Hey y'all, Does anyone have this golf bag? I was wondering if it was a relatively lightweight bag and if the 14-way divider system was good or bad? I'm trying to find a new bag for my new clubs and I need something as lightweight as possible because I like to walk most of the courses I play... I kind of liked that Nike bag but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great too. Thanks! HookEmHorns

New Clubs This Weekend! Need Some Advice
HookEmHorns posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hey y'all, I got some new irons this weekend (Cobra S2 Max) and a new driver (Taylormade Burner) and I have a few questions to ask... Is there anything that you can do about ball marks on the face of the club, such as the red paint off of driving range balls? I just want to keep my clubs nice for as long as I can... Also, is there any type of care you guys give to new clubs before taking them to the course for the first time to keep them nice? Thanks! HookEmHorns -
Pretty much working on everything. 1. Strength and conditioning so I don't get tired or anything, and I'm not one of those guys with a lot of big muscles... yet. haha 2. Full swing. My game is not great, but every once in a while I hit a great shot, so I'm working on replicating those good shots. 3. Short game. My short game is really my highest priority, considering I will be using my irons and chipping a majority of the time. Mainly making good contact every time if possible. 4. Driver. My driving game is spotty at best. I hit a good, straight, shot one day and the next day I have a nasty hook... So I have to figure out how to replicate a good swing.
