Haven't posted in years, but hopping back on. Shot a 39-39 today out at River Oaks in Sandy, Utah. Not a terrible day, but definitely could have been better. Glad to to be back.

Today I bought a demo Titleist 585 H Hybrid at our shop with an Aldilia NV Hybrid stiff shaft in it. Perfect condition. Barely even hit, and when it was, it was hit inside. I paid $50 for it. Did I get a good deal? I've been looking for a 18-19 degree Hybrid to go between my 3 wood and 4 hybrid and after hitting this on the range, I felt like it would be a great club. I was kind of leaning towards an Adams hybrid, but didn't want to spend the extra money. What do you think?

Ordered shaft for driver probelm.

Scott, I have the 09 burner. I got it last summer and still love it. I'm pretty positive I ordered the 65g shaft. I can't wait to get it and get out on the range. I think I'm about to head to the range now, and possibly get in 9 holes this afternoon. -

Wow, after all the replies, I really feel like I made the right decision. I'm excited to get it and get it on the range. It should come in around Wednesday or so. My swing speed is around 102-105mph, so I think the shaft will be good for my swing. I'm going to spend some time out at the golf academy this summer and try to improve my swing, but I really think the shaft will also aid in my drives being hit a little lower. I'm starting to work at the course some starting next week sometime, so I'll have plenty of time out on the course to get on the range. I'm going to start spending a lot more time on the range and playing less. -

I'm really excited about getting my shaft in. I'll write a report on it when I get it back. -
I don't know if any of your guys remember my topic a week or so ago, but I broke the shaft in my 09 Burner, and wasn't really sure what I should do to fix it. I was debating buying a new shaft or just buying a used driver. Well, I ended up ordering a UST V2 stiff shaft for my burner. I'm not sure of all the specs on the shaft, but the assistant golf pro in the Mississippi State Golf Academy help me get the correct specs on the driver. I believe I ordered a mid kick to help with how high I hit the ball. I'm excited to get the shaft in. It cost $70. Do you guys think I picked a good shaft? There was another shaft I looked at for $110, but I just could justify spending the extra $40.

Driver situation, what to do?
pchaney301 replied to pchaney301's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well, I found out the UST shaft won't work in my driver, or at least that's what I'm told by the friend of mine that was giving it to me. So now that leaves me with the dilemma of whether to buy the Cleveland or put a new shaft in my burner. I think I'm leaning towards the burner right now, but need help with what shafts to look at. Any starting ideas? -

I think I'm going to give them a call and just see what they say. Your right, the worst they could say is no, and them I'm still where I am now. I'm going to put the UST in there and see how I like it. Yes, it is the ProForce V2. I'm going to at least spend a little time with it, and see if I like it. Quick question, since the shaft was on the Nickent 4DX with CYG, will I still be able to put it in my Burner? -

I was really thinking about picking up the Cleveland and putting the UST in the burner and hitting them both on the range and seeing what I hit better, then sell the other. I don't think they'll replace the shaft because of the way it broke. A friend of mine wasn't paying attention and stepped on it on the tee box after I dropped. Freak thing, probably wouldn't happen again in a thousand tries. -
Yesterday, I broke the shaft in my 2009 Burner driver. I have a couple options that I can do, but I'm not sure what I should do. 1. I can purchase a Cleveland Hi-Bore XLS stiff shaft driver from a friend for $60 2. I can purchase a new shaft for my Burner and hit it. 3. Another friend of mind has a UST shaft out of a Nickent Driver that he said he will give me, and I can put that in my burner and hit it. What should I do? I'm not in the market to buy a brand new driver right now. I've hit a Hi-bore xls a few times over the last month or so, and I really like it. I feel like I hit it straighter than my burner, but maybe a little shorter. I've had a lot of good rounds with my Burner, and I really like it as well. Thoughts?

I was going to say exactly what pinhigh said, with the new TP Red/Black balls, a lot of guys have been hitting them.

Pro V1x. But i've tried different balls that I have in my bag and not really getting any better results out of anything to really notice a difference. I'm convinced its something in my swing, just don't know what.

I think I posted a topic about this earlier this year, but I was going to write an update. Most of my shots are still getting really high and bouncing once and stopping, which is great for my 7-wedges. But off the tee, my balls are going like 265 in the air, hitting and rolling an extra maybe yard or two, and thats it. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing to cause all my shots to go so high. Its absolutely killing me off the tee. Another question that I have is about my irons. Somewhere, I am losing power. Again, my shots go really, REALLY high and just fall. I mean I've been hitting my 7 iron around 140-145. It just doesn't make any sense. Any suggestions?

Oh I love that. Thats always one of my favorite parts of each months Golf Digest. Its always nice to see what the top guys are hitting. Its always kind of refreshing to see guys hitting clubs that are the same thing thats in my bag. Pretty cool.

I've had a dog run across and steal a brand new Pro V1x out of the fairway. Needless to say I wasn't too happy.

The Nickent Hybrids are amazing and CHEAP on eBay.

Get a used set from someone. I just got an awesome set of Titleist irons for $200. Do some searching, and I guarentee you that you can find something. I'd look at the TaylorMade R7 Irons. I've heard really good things about them, and a close friend of mine plays wit them and loves them.

Thats awesome. We've been talking about possibly putting one in the back yard, but just havn't pulled the trigger yet. Have fun with it.

Question about Irons...Opinions please
pchaney301 replied to pchaney301's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for all the help. We play together basically everyday, so he shouldn't have a problem letting me try them out. I really love the 755s, but I just keep mis hitting them on some shots and I can't figure out what the deal is. I'm sure its something I'm doing, but I just can't figure it out. The 755s are still pretty new to me, so I think I'm going to hold on to them for a little bit longer, see if I can get better adjusted, and then go from there. -
I recently bought a slightly used set of Titleist 755 irons for a great deal. I absolutely love the irons....when I hit them solid. I have been struggling some lately with mis hits and I hit a buddies set of Ping G2's today and the cavity backs felt much more forgiving than my 755s. Well, he jokingly said, "Man I'd trade you irons whenever you want to!" after he hit my forged 755s and hit them really solid. He is a great golfer and played a little college golf for a couple years. What I am wondering is, would it be worth it if I went to the range a few times and played with the G2s and decided that I hit them better, would it be a smart decision on my part to even consider trading the irons? I think my irons may actually be worth a little more, but would it be worth it if I was more comfortable with the G2's? Any opinions greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton. Always nice to meet a fellow Mississippian on here! I might even wind up down that way next year. I'll be graduating in my, so who knows where I'll end up with the way things are now a days.

I'm from North Mississippi up near Tupelo. I actually go to Mississippi State. What part of Louisiana are you from? I can check the forum at any time, so if you hear anything from your friends, let me know. Thanks

My experience with fitted clubs
pchaney301 replied to Thaddy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think I need to go add a little bit to my irons. I'm about 6'1" and with my higher irons, I really feel hunched over. I'm sure if they were a hair longer, I'd feel a lot better.
