  1. You've done well on the putters, now I'm wishing you the same kind of luck on the greens. How do you choose which putter to use?
  2. When I got past the 40s I gave up on walking. I ride all the time now but prefer walking. Hip replacement kinda put the qui-etus on the walking however. I think you concentrate more when you walk and you plan out your next shot better when walking. Carts are way too fast for me!
  3. Good luck with your hopes here on this one. Tiger plays for himself and does not take to the team concept. He plays poorly in these matches and will probably do so again!
  4. It sounds like you are not warming up enough before hitting balls. Hard to tell, actually but do a few more practice swings with two long clubs get those wrists ready before teeing up for real!
  5. Him (Tiger) being in the final group is whats sad about the game today. Other than Tiger you have a bunch of twirps out there that fold when they have a chance to take a tournament. Davis Love was 11 under and had a 5 stroke lead over Tiger and just quit. He looked like he just didn't care all of a suden. He dropped to 8 in 4 holes and the truth of the matter is he couldn't stand the prosperity. Tiger is the only athlete out there, the rest are a bunch of chokers! When you get a lead like that you don't back up, you add to it. It's no wonder Tiger is winning everything, the competition is pathetic!
  6. The Pro talks about the lower compression balls being good for men also and I was wondering how they do as far as back spin is concerned on the greens? Might be a good ball for him to consider!
  7. I noticed that also. I'm surprized that he hit that ball with people right in front of his line. That was not kosher and I think they said there was no out of bounds on that hole and I have my doubts that someone picked up that ball. It was never returned to Tiger so in reality it was a lost ball and should have been played as such. He got a break on that one.
  8. We have been getting weather over 100 degrees and the fairways down here in Texas are burnt up. Greens are OK but everything else is a yellow color. We need rain in the worse way! Somebody needs to do a rain dance! I envy you guys that get to play on lush fairways where the ball sits up nicely.
  9. I played 9 holes yesterday at the Country Club and had 13 putts. That was low for me but I chipped up to inside 3ft several times. That really helps.
  10. Try out the putters! I know, $50.00 won't buy a good putter now-a-days but it is a good start. I bought a Cleveland Vas putter in the early 90s for $60.00 and I thought that was high but the prices on putters have sky-rocketed. You might also look at some new shoes. Can't ever have enough good looking golf shoes!

    How far?

I have slowed down my swing and my drives are getting longer. That seems contradictive but in reality the clubhead is moving faster at impact as a result of the slower backswing. I can feel the power at the bottom more now than before and it feels great. I tend to swing alot like Lee Trevino, open stance and come from the inside. Now I need to work on my irons. I've been casting them and losing alot of the power before impact. It will come, it just takes time.
  12. My son loves the Black Max's. He prefers them over the ProV1s. Edwin Watts has them for $19.99 right now on sale. I like the Callaway HX Hot myself. I seem to get a little more distance out of them.
  13. He can hit it over tall buildings in a single bound!
  14. I couldn't make a five iron work from under low hanging limbs, even if I hooded it and played it back in my stance. I would hit it tooooooo high and catch limbs. With the driving iron, the ball stays low and you can work it well. It just works for me and I can judge distances with it fairly well. Since it is longer however, I have to concentrate on not hitting it fat. I choke down and don't let up on it.
  15. Caveman and cdriver are "right on" concerning this topic.
  16. With Jim Furyk it would flop all over the place.
  17. I like the young man....he seems to have an honest face and a mechanical swing. He will only get better!
  18. If he does, he will win everything he enters and that might get a might boring down the road.
  19. I liked Payne Stewart alot and was really saddened at his death. He was really a colorful guy and a mans man.
  20. I hope he isn't drinking heavy again! Beer is his downfall and he was drinking at age 5 I believe. He said his folks took him into the bars and fed him beer at that age. My....My!
  21. I don't want to vote for either. I like the underdog and that leaves Tiger out and Phil is too much the pansy that chokes down the stretch. I think he is not going to make the cut in this tourney and his game and confidence is gone. Tiger does curse alot when he misses a shot and thats not good. I saw him in the Buick Open say the GD thing in front of the camera and that doesn't go over well with a lot of folks including me. I am liking this Luke Donald guy the more I see him and Olgivey. They seem to be an asset to golf and will be in the future I think. Tickled me today when the announcers were oohing and aahing about Tigers long drive and Gore out drove him by 15yds. Gore can smash that ball!
  22. A driving iron is kinda unusual looking, at least the ones I've had in the past are. They normally have a bulbous back and about the same degree as a 1 iron. I've used one for years and it has saved me a bunch of strokes.
  23. I understand that, but everyone hits the ball different and for different distances. I could ask Tiger on every shot and it wouldn't help me none cause he hits it twice as far as I do. I can't see it's such a big deal and I never ask folks what they just hit anyway. If they ask me, I'd be more than happy to oblige! I play mostly for fun with guys that play for a little money and take it setriously but not that seriously!
  24. I have a driving iron which I rely on quite a lot when in the trees or around and under bushes. I can hit it low and slice it or hook it if I want. It has saved me a bunch of strokes in the past.
  25. When I was working on the railroad I use to play two to three times a week and I also paid for my son to play. I was spending around $200.00 a month on green fees, balls etc. That was back in the 70s and 80s. I get to play free now-a-days due to working in the Pro Shop here and that makes it really nice.
