  1. (Callaway 2007 big bertha460). When I get ready , I line up the head to the ball and keep the shaft at a 45' angle. Letting go of the grip with either hand and letting my hand drop, it does not move forward or back. I do not have to adjust my hand forward or back to gain regrip. I hope this helps.
  2. PG muni is in disrepair right now, but if you are never coming back, I would make it the only choice. You are playing on the edge of the world., the hazards are natural, and the light house at the end is historical. It is also the cheapest by far. Make sure you call in for an early twilight time. When I say disrepair, the greens are patchy. They are better than last year this time, but need some more TLC. Rancho is a favorite of locals and has a back drop of the Carmel Highlands. A little more challenging than PG muni and not as challanging as Laguna Seca. Beautiful and fun, while still being a walkers course. It is a favorite of locals because the membership includes handicap calculations and USGA membership. Not a bad deal. If you will be back but at a later date I would go Laguna Seca. Up and down course with lots to stratigize over. Rabbits watch you putt while hawks watch the rabbits from high above. If you are not up for a challenge, I suggest you don't keep score. Hope this helps.
  3. I almost played Laguna for the first time on Monday, but got a tee time at Pebble. So we skipped Laguna and will play another time. I do love thier driving range for actual pratice better than Pacific Grove. But PG driving range feels like you are at the edge of the world. I played 9 holes at Rancho the first time I played. For most people those are the go to golf courses around here because they offer a Membership that includes you in the golf association. Bayonnet and Black Horse are supposed to be the local gems that are achievable (Tehama, Monterey Penninsula Country Club are unobtainable).
  4. I'm a new golfer and have only kept real score for two rounds of golf with all penalties included. I shot a 129 at Peblle Beach and a 112 at Del Monte, both in Monterey, CA. How do I transfer that into a handicap?
  5. If you did that recently, I was on Spanish Bay the same day and did real well for the 8 holes I could stay out there. What is the offical ruling if the wind blows your ball off of the green and 40 yards downhill?
  6. Spyglass 17 par 5. Third shot with my 4 iron and bounced it on top of the rocks and into the water. I drop another ball and try the 4 iron again, it bounces on the same rocks and onto the grass
  7. I did not even know it was an option! I almost broke my 4 iron on a tree stump (I have a picture of the lie). haha, I guess I'll start "improving" my lie.
  8. New member here living in Monterey and working in Pebble. I range and play at PG muni and play the Pebble courses.
  9. I was considering buying the Neox Callaway Sunglasses. Does anyone that have them notice that it makes it easier to follow the ball?
  10. I prefer the blade putter and have just recently switched to the Nike ic 2010. It has great feel to it and the ugly color scheme has a purpose. The dark green disappears into the grass while the two white lines are highlighted. I am legally blind and find this putter is an amazing improvement over my old Ping A Blade. Oh, I hate the grip and got it regriped to a larger one. I think it is definitely worth a good test drive.
  11. If you come down this far, you should try Pacific Grove Muni. The back 9 is on the water and is lots of fun.
  12. I am a professional cook. If you can kill it, I can set it on fire and make it taste delicious.
