Hey guys, I have a few questions about trimming my driver shaft. I have the 983k with a stock Aldila NV65 S. 1) I am getting a new grip put on the club and am going to ask the store to cut a half inch off the shaft so it plays 44.5". That's assuming that stock the 983k is 45". So that's the first question, is it stock 45"? Also what is the stock swingweight? 2) How much would cutting a half inch off the butt end effect swing weight and how much lead tape would I need to bring the swing weight back up to normal? Also where do i go about getting lead tape? 3) Lastly, where do I apply the lead tape on the shaft? I read that I do it at the hosel to bring the SW back up and then under the grip to even out the weight of the shaft or something. Is that true or is there another way I should do it? Thanks

Well I don't have much history...only started playing last April. I'm 20 now, and I played pretty consistently through the summer, got down to consistenly shooting in the low 80's, broke 80 twice. I haven't been able to play much while at school, Virginia Tech weather doesn't really allow one to play much. So at the moment, I most likely would have a rough time shooting anything decent. Over the summer I will be back at it again, and I am transferring to Professional Golfer's Career College down in Orlando, Florida in the fall, so I will be able to keep the consistency going, hopefully get myself in the 70's more often. I'm a decent length player, a good drive for me is around the 275 range, can occasionally hit it farther, but that doesn't happen enough to say I am a bomber, getting a few inches off my driver in the near future though, so either the distance will get shorter, or stay the same because I'll be hitting the sweet spot more often. Short irons are a good length, 140 for the PW (47*), but long irons are crap, but I refuse to get rescue clubs because I am a very stubborn person and know that I can hit those irons.

Just because it was match play doesn't mean you can't add up the amount of strokes she took, afterall you do need to take strokes for match play to work..or did you forget about that one. Any golfer attempting to be a pro should be able to shoot around par in the conditions they played in, despite it being a little bit colder, and she can't do that. I don't care if it's wet or soft, she should be able to handle it.

how about this...Tiger may not have "roared" on sunday, yet he still won the tournament, and that's all that matters. He roared in the second and third round and then played well enough to win. I don't see any point in arguing over a man no one really knows personally. None of you actually know if he's going to be considered better or worse than he used to be, and no one knows when he will retire or how many more swing changes he will have. For all I know, he might have 4 more coaches with a new swing each time.

How do you like the Purple Ice? I was thinking of getting the Purple Ice in my driver. How does it play?

I am getting close to exchanging my T-40 three wood and upgrading to the T-60 13*. I have the 5-wood and hit it fine, but would like a better shaft in both of them. I was thinking of going with something like the NV75, I have no trouble getting the ball up in the air, so I figured that would be a good shaft. Are there any other recommended shafts for fairway woods, perhaps some that have the same playing characteristics of the Aldila NV75, but are cheaper...I don't have the money to spend on two Alidila's, probably not even one. Any suggestions for shafts that aren't like the Aldila that you just like would be nice too. I am also looking at reshafting my Irons to Rifles (obviously this won't be happening to soon considering the money factor) and I don't really know the shaft flexes. I imagine I need a 5.5 or 6.0....Driver swing speed is usually between 110-115, never really tested 5 iron speed. How much stiffer is the 6.0? Lastly, right now I have the Aldila NV65 in my driver and would like to cut an inch off it to 44"...I just feel more comfortable with a shaft a little shorter. What would be the best way to go about doing this? If I cut an inch off the butt end doesn't it mess up how the shaft plays...or does it just make it a bit stiffer? If it played a bit stiffer I think I could handle it, but if it would do anything else that would be detrimental to my driving, I would like to know....thanks!

I am upgrading my T-40 3 wood to the T-60, I have the T-60 5 wood and i hit it almost as far as my T-40. I now have the 15 degree version and was wondering how much different it is to use a 13 degree. I know that lower loft increases the chance for side spin and what not, but how much harder is it to get the ball up in the air. T-60's are relatively easy to hit, and I wanted a little more distance out of my 3 wood. Does anyone hear use a 13 degree? Used to have one? or just hit one on the range before?

I think the weather is going to win. I'm sick of this crap happening...if any of the Masters gets rained out I will have a heart attack.

How important is leg strength in a golf swing for distance? There's this dude at the range i go to...I have heard that he's ranked 8th in the nation either for high schoolers or future college golfers (he just graduated). Our range has a net at about 250 yards out that's probably around 100- 120 feet high, possibly more, that he clears easily with his driver. He absolutely hammers the ball and he said most of his distance came from making his legs stronger. That's what this guys main focus is in the gym, getting his legs very strong. I can understand stronger legs making you more stable but will they make you hit the ball farther?

I'm basically for anything golf-wise...and I don't think it would be fair if the "rest of the world" didn't get something like the Europeans get in the ryder cup. Plus, the course they play at is about 10 minutes away from my house. I live in the next town over, but Manassas is right next to where I am. I got to go the Presidents Cup a while ago, and it was a cool experience.

yea, golf is my favorite sport...but March Madness is amazing. The first day of the first round i was doing really well in the brackets, but the second day just screwed me so bad. Bucknell winning messed me up bad, then I had ODU upsetting Michigan St., they came close but fell out in the end, Syracuse really screwed me bad, argh, at least my Elite 8 and Final Four are still in it. Final four......UNC at Duke, Illinois at Wake Forest, then UNC beats Illinois in the finals.

Bridgestone B330 - Found a new Ball
pmclamb replied to gas_can's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I just bought a box of these. So far I havent had the chance to hit full shots with them, but I have pitched, chipped, hit sand shots, and putted with them, and so far they feel like rocks. I dunno what it is, after reading everywhere that they are supposed to be soft and someone said they feel like Pro V1s. Is no one else feeling this? I am still going to give them a chance next time I play, I am just wary of them. I play the DT So/Lo's right now, and I hit a putt with the Bridgestone, and then with the So/Lo, and the Titleist felt 10 times better. Maybe it's just me, who knows. -
His caddie took a 2 month break...might even be for good now...but I don't think Vijay chose to change caddies, his caddy didn't like the way Vijay treated him, so he quit.

Considering both the British Open and US Opens are "Opens", the women would have to go through qualifiers to get into these tournaments. If they make it through the qualifiers then they very well can compete with the ability and skill sets of men. They aren't really trying to prove anything, they just want to see how good they are, and if I were a woman I would want to play in any of the male majors because they are the most famous golf tournaments in the world. The LPGA majors aren't nearly as well known, I think I only know one...the Kraft Nabisco one, whatever it is. I don't see why they should be kept on separate tours if they are good enough to play. Not many females have proven themselves in the tournaments they have played in, but they also haven't played in many. So far they have shown they are about as good as a mediocre male tour player, but those mediocre tour players are still on the tour and aren't criticized nearly as much as those women who have tried.
