  1. It was only 9 holes, but I shot 38 on the back 9 of my home course. The back 9 is a par 35, if you can handle the mosquitoes. Does anyone else run out of work to make it to the course before the sun sets :)
  2. Right now I'm playing with used Nike balls because...well everything I wear is Nike so I just thought it would be fitting. I do prefer the Platinum's over the sft2's; they just feel better to me off the club face and overall playability.
  3. Just in my defense, my "trying" stack and tilt hasn't been an overnight magical thing. At three lessons a week, an average of 3 hours at the range when I have the time and daylight for using a video camera and numerous rounds of practice for the last month and a half, I really don't think its been an overnight "fix." I do realize I wasn't very descriptive when I mentioned I'm trying stack and tilt. The problem I'm having with my driver is I've been trying to use my arms and muscle it. I just started doing that the last round I played. This is a common recurrence, always trying to whack the snot out of the ball. Not trying to add fuel to the fire, no offense to Butch or anyone else
  4. I'm giving it a try, also. For ME, it seems to have helped. I'm now hitting down more consistently with my irons, with a slight but consistent draw. I have to work with my driver a little, but I'm quite pleased so far.
  5. I draw a small smiley face under the logo(Nike Swoosh). 2 dots for eyes on 2 different dimples and a smiley using an orange Sharpie. Sometimes I put a little tongue sticking out to lighten the mood, usually when I'm playing bad.
  6. I always have confidence in my 7i. I always think of the scene from Tin Cup, where Roy breaks all his clubs except for the 7i, when I reach for mine.
  7. I agree, even though its just annoying and inconsiderate to other players. What hurts you can only make you stronger; that sort of fits this topic I guess. The train is a good one, though. I think if that happened to me, I probably just would have laughed.
  8. My girlfriend and I were at the range hitting some buckets one afternoon. Fairly quiet, only a couple others there, until these two "homies" arrived. Within minutes all we could here was kaabang, as golf balls ricocheted off the roof over the mat area. Amidst the commotion, I heard them say a few times "swing as hard as you can" and "use the big one, thats how you get the ball to go far(I'm assuming the driver or wood type club)"
  9. I forgot about car horns. A couple of the local courses in my area are located in the flight paths of airports. I'm sure eventually I'll hear the roar of fighter jets when they're out playing.
  10. I was at the driving range tonight, working on hitting down with my irons. The range I've been frequenting is located on a busy road, so traffic is common. Taking my usual practice swings, all of the sudden I hear some idiots yell "FORE." This wasn't the first time that's happened, but how immature can people really be? If I'm around a bunch of people, I'll joke and say "50 bucks to whoever hits the car," like what Pesci said in Casino when the FBI plane landed on the course. Now I'm no pro golfer or anything, I just started this year after a 10 year lapse, but people really need to grow up. Its almost annoying as hearing people yell "get in the hole" on a PGA telecast.
  11. $20 I'd buy one, too. The driver with the holes in it is interesting. What happens when you miss hit and catch the ball on a hole? That putter looks like a winner; I'm gonna go check my toolbox and see what I can stick on the end of a hollow tube and call a club
  12. Hi everyone, I'm from Central NY and stumbled upon this site googling golf tips. I've decided to take up golf again after a 6-10 year(I don't remember) lapse. Still haven't had the time to get out on the course, but I can't wait, no matter what I shoot. In my bag I have a set of R7 CGB Max iron clones from Turbo Power, an R7 CGB Max clone driver from Turbo Power and X9 Extreme MOI hybrids(2 and 4). I went with clone clubs for two reasons: 1-I have a limited budget and spending $800 on a new set of irons didn't sit well with my wallet. 2-My Burner LCG irons, Ti Bubble 2 driver, my late father's bag were stolen out of my truck two weeks ago. After the theft of my clubs, buying new clubs seemed to alleviate the situation, eventhough the Mizuno cart bag was the biggest loss. My clones seem very well built, I've hit them at the range half a dozen times so far and they haven't fallen apart yet. I'm glad to be a member here, maybe I'll see you out on the course

I'm an 18 year old trapped in a 26 year olds body that feels 40 at times. Does that make sense?
  14. I'm a bowling alley mechanic. Any bowlers that know machines, I work on 82/70's. I enjoy working on mechanical things. I've been in and out of both the bowling business and automotive business since I was 16, i'm 26 now.
  15. Hi Jonnythan, I'm a new user and from Syracuse,NY. I saw your post on your clone clubs and hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoy my Turbo Power irons(R7 CGB Max clones). I just started golfing again after a 6 year layoff. Good luck to you, hit 'em long and straight
