  1. Seems like the going rate around here is $35/ 1/2 hour-45min. for 1 on 1 instruction
  2. If this is one of the elastic back hats, I'd go with the L/XL, unless you like your caps real snug, which I don't.
  3. Well, I guess it's a good thing I didn't buy them for you then. And, yes, I understand that a PGA pro can probably win with about any club and that not every brand fits every golfer but let's face it, the pros get paid endorsement deals for a reason, so that people associate them with a brand.
  4. that's not addiction my friend, that just plain smart.
  5. and when you're golfing with a guy who's nickname is "The Fox"
  6. Funny, I just bought a set of Adams clubs off the Marketplace here on the forum for my dad, who is 63, but bought them a few days before the British Open, now I have I perfect intro for the new clubs when I give them to him, after all dad, if Tom Watson uses them, why not you?

    Tom Watson

Watching Watson's press conference after the playoff I was pleasantly surprised by a couple things. First, he didn't just have the "happy to be here" kind of mentality. He wasn't a sour jerk, he made a few jokes during the presser, I believe he even started it by saying something like, "It's not like we're here for a funeral", but you could genuinely tell that he was disappointed with himself, yet he gave Cink complete credit for playing himself into the tie and taking charge in the playoff. I also liked how he said that he came to this tournament because he felt he could win it, and made the comment about how he stopped playing The Masters because he felt like a "ceremonial golfer" because he can't play that kind of course anymore. I really appreciate that kind of honesty from an athlete, albeit a 59 year old one. Lastly, although there's been a little Tiger hate in this thread I thought it was rather classy of Tom to make the comment of how he tips his cap to all the obligations Tiger must go through on every tournament he plays. I got the sense that Tom appreciated how the game has changed off the course since he was last a perennial contender with regard to sponsor obligations and such.
  8. Boy, past loc-tite, the only other thing I could think of with anything that has a thread to it would be plumber's tape, but I would think loc-tite would have worked better than that. Sorry to say, but might be time to just replace the shoes if it's bothering you that much (and I don't blame you)
  9. I recently had a billing problem with Golfsmith. I won't bore you with the details but I called over the weekend and spoke with a CS rep who assured me that if the problem I was having didn't rectify itself by Monday I could call and it would be taken care of without any problem. I called today and explained my issue with a CS rep today and they told me that there was nothing that could be done about my billing issue and I would essentially have to either wait for the problem to correct itself or contact my bank and work it out on that end. I voiced my displeasure, firmly but cordially, and said that I did not believe this matter was being handled properly but that in the future I would take this billing issue into consideration and perhaps purchase my golf equipment elsewhere. Within the hour I was contacted by phone by a CS manager who said the matter had been brought to his attention. He informed me that the CS rep I had just talked to was mistaken and that it was their fault for not informing/training the rep properly. He then told me that the issue I had called about had been taken care of and asked if there was anything else he could help with. I checked my bank statement online while I was talking to him and sure enough, the matter was handled. Even though there was a rough spot in the middle, I was pleasantly surprised by the quickness that I was contacted and the matter rectified. Honestly, that return phone call probably saved any high dollar future business that I might have taken elsewhere. Maybe it wasn't perfect, but I was left with the impression that my dis-satisfaction mattered and I, and my business, was valued. Can't say that for too many CS departments nowadays.
  10. How about it? What is your favorite golf movie that isn't Caddyshack? I'd have to go Tin Cup myself
  11. Yes, Ari also threw the smack down at Butch Harmon for his 3 putts
  12. I'm going to purchase a Callaway Diablo driver and per their promotion can get either a fairway or hybrid for $1. Problem is, I can't decide on which. I've currently got a 3 and 5 wood, (Nickent 4dx and Ping G10 respectively). I hit the #3 50/50 between fairway and off the tee but have found I haven't gotten consistent with it off the fairway, particularly out of the rough. I've never used a hybrid before, but from what I've read I'm thinking it may be worth a try. I'm sort of looking for something to hit on a 2nd shot with about 200-225 yards to the green. My irons are 4-SW. Anyone own either of these clubs? Otherwise, anyone with any thoughts, your input would be appreciated.
  13. I was just saying in another post how much respect I've gained for Tiger over the past 10 years or so. Funny, Jim Brown didn't see fit to mention any of this type contribution that Tiger makes, only how he (Brown), who has apparently annointed himself to be the judge of an african american man's character, thinks Tiger is basically a "joke". Tell you what Mr. Brown, you were a hell of a football player, but when it comes to judging a man's character you don't know jack. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the guy without the forearm length criminal record, and by the way, that's not you Jim.
  14. Funny, 10 years ago I didn't really care for Tiger. I think it was just a result of overkill and over exposure for so many years, it was never anything specific with him. I must say though, having watched him the past few years, being a husband, a father, losing his father and the dedication he has to his craft I have a lot of respect for him and he is one of the few athletes that I would feel comfortable pointing to and saying to my kid "Now that's how you should conduct yourself", not just as an athlete but as a man. That said, I think it would be great if Tiger had a younger rival. It would be great for the fans, great for the tour, and I think in the end, great for Tiger's legacy. I hope it pans out, but then again we've seen many fall short of the challenge.
  15. I cannot speak to the forgiveness of the G10 driver. I do own a SuMo squared 11 deg. driver and a G10 fairway wood. Both feel very effortless when I hit them off the tee. I must say, of the drivers I've hit thus far this year (I've tried a Diablo, Cleveland, Hippo) the Nike is the most consistent with regard to both distance and forgiveness. The only criticism I would have, which I read in the reviews prior to buying the club, is the sound off the tee. Sounds more like a home run off an aluminum baseball bat than the typical sound one expects from a 460cc driver. I can live with the sound if the drive is going straight and long.
  16. I'd be interested to see how this works out for you as well. I've been considering adding a 7 or 9 wood to my bag or a hybrid club. Haven't tried any of them on the course yet though.
  17. So I'm guessing you don't play alot of courses in Oklahoma, or if you do you don't hit the ball out of your line of sight.
  18. Well, I think part of the "let down" if you will, at least for some of us folks who don't watch golf religiously, was partly associated with Phil bogeying on a couple of those last few holes and taking himself out of contention. At least for me, anyway. I would not consider myself a Phil fan, however I did pick up a Callaway Diablo driver at Golfsmith and, therefore, was very interested to see how he finished on Sunday. Also, Glover didn't seem to show any traditional joy or emotion on the 18th, maybe a little bit when he hugged his wife afterward. I must say though that listening to his brief interview afterward I thought he came off as very genuine and approachable. I would imagine he was still in a little bit of shock just trying to let it all soak in. Who knows, maybe he tore it up in the clubhouse afterward
  19. I'll generally limit myself to about 2-3 beers maximum in an 18 hole round, and only if I'm golfing with someone. I find that a social every 6 holes or so takes a little of the edge off because by that time I've shanked a few shots. If it's really hot outside or the course is busy then I just stick to water and leave the socials for the 19th hole.
