@ShortyThose happened after my post but yes, that's what I was referring too. I was also expecting some more red numbers and that just did not happen. But, with this being the official moving day, we'll see how many in the field have figured out how to slay Goliath. I hope they do as well. It's refreshing not seeing a leaderboard with half the field in red and finishing totals in double digits. I was listening to commentary yesterday about how Shinnecock's layout would not be acceptable to current course architecture standards; both for drainage/irrigation and for difficulty. I say bullshit to the second part. The tours need more course like Shinnecock.

That sure was a disappointing end to Spieth's round and the tournament. I would have lost money betting that he would not be playing the weekend. He's definitely fighting some gremlins and perhaps his time is better served getting back to his swing coach and practice sessions.

The Mickelson, Speith, McIlroy group are definitely feeding off one another. They're exposing a wee crack in the course defense system.

Michael Greller must be logged onto TST and shared my post .

Agree. I was somewhat expecting more of a move by one or two players given the favorable conditions, but it's as though the course has a governor on the throttle.

It looks like Poulter and Rose are feeding off one another.

I just saw this blip on the info stream. This certainly creates some challenges in sports with respect to fairness. 30-40 years ago it was PED's, now this. My first thought is simply to create a separate league - TPGA? Crazy stuff. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/as-trans-high-school-athletes-win-state-titles-parents-petition-to-ban-them/ar-AAyE4OY?li=BBnb7Kz

Jordan's woes now extend beyond the putter.

Maybe we should merge the "Rude Golf Fans" thread into this one. JT's going to require surgery if he keeps having to pull out of his tee shots.

I'm guessing not. This course simply has catastrophe in too many places. I think this morning's groups caught a little break in course conditions. The afternoon groups may not be able to hold greens and they will likely start drying out.

Wow! That putt took a long time to get there. The way the course is playing, that's a gift.

And his second shot? If you're trying to be annoying, you're being successful. A little goes a long way. Just saw the list of future U.S. Opens and surprised Chambers Bay isn't selected. Pebble Beach and this course get played twice - spread it around a little.

Shot by shot? We're all watching and/or listening.

I thought all par 3's were considered drivable; at least for tour players.

These camera guys cannot even find the drives after they land in the fairway. Most other tournaments, they can darn near follow it through its entire flight. Maybe the heavy mist is causing them issues? Word has it Poulter is complaining he's not in a "featured group".

Watching the live stream and it looks like they're playing in Ireland. Also, what's with the inability to keep the cameras clean - must be a rookie crew.

I was wondering about that as well. This could be one of the few tournaments on tour whose winner posts a single digit red number. I think the players will reign in todays less than stellar performance as they continue to get a feel for the course and conditions.

I didn't make one, but hoping Rickie Fowler or DJ win. I'm thinking quite a few players are saying this right about now. Some might even be saying "I cannot believe it's only been one day".

Nah, this has become his new modus operandi - golf's version of rope-a-dope. It will be interesting to see what he does if he gets the lead early as in the past. During his prime run, much of the field simply got discouraged when he did and, IMO, just started thinking about how close to 2nd place they could finish.

Holy hell, I just got back from fishing and took a peek at the leaderboard . The course and conditions must be brutal. There are quite a few big names posting some big numbers and only 5 players currently "living under par". Looks like DJ's mojo from St. Jude is carrying over, but will it get him through this gauntlet for 54+ more holes?

Bedrock CC, Ha . I haven't purchased any new golf balls in over 20 years. I find way more than I lose. It's amazing how many folks play Pro V1's and don't carry a ball retriever. As for the soccer style balls are they just fun or does the pattern serve some aid?

We're playing this course for the first time next week. I've been wanting to try this course for some time after having heard about it last year. I would have never guessed such a course in Anaconda, MT. We'll likely play the copper tees. 644 yards from the "slag" tee's... yeah, right. What would you expect to shoot on this type course? https://oldworks.org/hole_by_hole/ https://oldworks.org/scorecard/

Thanks. It's the first I've seen them.
