  1. yes by sky it i mean hitting it very high with lots of spin. The reason i am forced to buy off the shelf is that the nearest swing monitor and well stocked golf shop is around 2 hours away and none of the local clubs will let buyers demo clubs.
  2. Im about to purchase an ft-i driver and am deciding between the 2 shafts mentioned above. I tend to sky the ball pretty often so i would like a lower trajectory and i also am prone to slicing occasionally so a little less spin might be nice also. Any comments on which shaft would be better will be greatly appreciated
  3. 115 is actually closer to my 9 maybe even a well hit pitch. and my average drive usually lands around 240
  4. 115 is my average 8 iron, lol
  5. Thanks for the input, i've ruled out nvs as im already prone to skying the ball. Any thoughts or experience with the fujikura?
  6. Im about to purchase a used 2007 callaway ft-i 9 degree stiff draw driver from callaway pre-owned and there are 3 clubs for the same price but with diffrent shafts. Which shaft is better in your opinion? Fujikura Speedster 586, Aldila NVS 65, or Grafalloy ProLaunch Red? Also what do the clubs listed as average look like? I am hestitant to purchase them but have herd nothing but good about callaway pre-owned's website.
  7. Id just go with a 3 wood. The 3 hybrid should be somewhat close in distance to a 5 wood so i find the extra wood to be unnecessary
  8. im pretty partial to the clevland cg14 wedges with the lil insert. i love the feel at contact, like butter with no clicking sound. I dont own any yet but i have played with ppl who let me try them out.
  9. I suggest you take a look at the 07 burner. It is a better club (imo) than any other club you listed for a beginner. I myself am buidding on several on ebay as we speak. I swung a bunch at my local golf store and it seemed to feel the best and be the most consistant compared to several other brands amd models. It also has a slightly closed face which will help get rid of your slice.
  10. Its definately not the swing, i've tried teeing the ball up at diffrent points in my stance with no succes. I'm gonna try to purchas a taylormade 07 burner 10.5 with stiff shaft soon. i tried it out on the shot projector the other day and loved it. I also like the ping g10 but it is a little more pricey. thoughts on those 2 drivers?
  11. I am looking to buy a new driver and need help deciding which loft to go with. Right now i am using a stiff shaft (i have a pretty fast swing speed) and a 10.5 driver and tend to hit the ball VERY high with lots of spin. Once it hits the ground it never bounces, just stops. Would a 9.5 driver help me or am i just teeing the ball up to far forward in my stance? Also, is a 9.5 any harder to hit consistently compared to a 10.5
  12. I love my taylormade glove. Gets trashed in about 2 months but still, it is just amazing. I am going to give the FJ a try soon though, hopefully their glove is as good as their shoes.
  13. I play for enjoyment but honestly, how much fun is it when you're playing crappy? Surfers have a sayin that the best surfer is the one who is having the most fun. I believe the golfer that is having the most fun is the one playing the best.
  14. I'm upgrading my driver and am set on a Taylormade Burner 9.5 loft with stiff shaft. Any diffrence between the 07 and 09 models besides price?
  15. When i'm golfing.....2007 Mazda 6 v6 When im cruising the town......2007 Saturn Sky
  16. Agreed on the one sentence replies! I hate those. But back to the point, the deciding factor for me is just watching the tours on tv. When the men play, im amazed by the outstanding ball placement and precision of the players. Its like watching an amazing shot, after shot, after shot. With the women, there are quiet a few good shots but sometimes i'm caught saying to myself, i coulda done that. Maybe its just me but the women look far more "human" compared to the superhero golfers on the men's PGA tour. That's why i say a scratch male could hold his own amongst the women.
  17. I was having problems with slices when i really put something behind my drives so i went to my local golf shop. They had me take a little off my drive and my ball suddenly went straight. The reason for the slice was to much shaft flex and a slightly open head at impact. I have readjusted my grip to close the face more but will be getting a new driver soon with a stiff flex to solve my problems.
  18. +1 for the taylormade. As soon as i have enough money, i plan on getting a full set of taylormade clubs, i just love the feel and quality they put into their products. My vote goes for the 2007 Burner Rescue hybrids. SHould be able to find them for around 90 bux, great value.
  19. What i've noticed with the LPGA is that the top player's skill level is outstanding and would, as you said, out do a scratch male golfer. However the thing i also noticed is there is a very steep cut off. Usually there will be 5 women fighting for the win, 10 women fighting for the other spots and then 40 women completely off pace shooting quiet a few strokes over par. I think a male scartch player could hold his own on the tour. Not winning any major events but possibly getting some top 20's here and there.
  20. You have a point, i added that comment just to show my frustrations. I just hate how older guys never take young guys serious at my local course. But i guess it's like you said, comments like mine are what earn us this disrespect. In the future i will go about my own buisness and try ignore my frustrations.
  21. To avoid any disrespect to low handicappers, i changed my listed handicap to 20. I believe this to be closer to my true hanidcap anyway. I will update it weekly though as i add more rounds.
  22. The greatest example of this happened last week at the practice green b4 i teed off. I was putting about 5 foot from one hole on the corner of the green and a middle aged man began putting 5 balls into each hole. He mad a stop at each hole until he came to mine. He completely ignored my prescence and casually began to putt into my hole which was clearly occupied. I politely told him i was tryin to putt but he just goes " well watch out of the way, you're not taking it seriously anyway" It took all my will power not to back hand him on the spot. I decided to stop my practicing and begin my round. On the 2nd hole as i was teeing off i saw him hitting several blotched shots and ended up taking about 8 strokes to complete a par 4. As he pulled his cart up to the 2nd tee where i was at, i told him "Looks to me like you might need to take golf a little more serious huh?" and drove away.
  23. Yeh srry if i came off as bragging at first, i promise i am far from it and am humble to all suggestions. But i have always wondered, what effect does a person's handicap have in a tournament? Are higher handicap players spotted strokes or do like handicap players only play like handicappers?
  24. I will for sure. I am truely addicted to golf and would like to possibly play in college, hence me practicing every day since i first picked up a club. I will update my handicap weekly as i input more rounds into the database. i appreciate all the responses that cared enough to give me a 2nd thought instead of calling bs and going on, i was beginning to think all golfers were just naturally douchebags, lol.
