  1. 200 hundred yards out in the woods after a botched 7 iron shot from the tee box on a dog leg left. Broke out the 4 iron to hit it low and long through the trunks. I lost site of the ball after I hit. Thought for sure it was lost in the woods. It magically missed every tree trunk and landed next to the green.
  2. I am currently swinging a really old set of Hogan Edge Forged Irons. I am not very consistent with these clubs and would like to get something more forgiving. I recently bought a TM 07 Burner driver and love it. Wow what a difference from my old Big Bertha 11 degree, long and straight. I had such good luck with the driver I figured I would check out the irons. I don’t know much about the different brands and my decision to go with Taylormade is completely on the fact that I had such a good result from the driver. I also have a TM Rossa putter that I really like. I tried many putters and this one felt the best for me. I like the idea behind the 09 Burners but think they are a little expensive for me. If I were a better golfer I may be more eager to spend that kind of money. I hit them at a driving range and man do they get some air. I don’t think I was more accurate left and right but I definitely got more balls in the air, even on missed hits. With my Hogan’s, the sweet spot is so small that if I get a good hit it almost always goes the same distance. With the 09 Burners the distance was very inconsistent for me. But at least on a miss hit they still traveled some distance. After the 09 Burners there are the Burner Plus, Tour Burner, and the R7’s that are in my price range. I was thinking about picking up the Tour Burners but they advertise forgiveness with playability. I am not as worried about playability because I am not very good and maybe having something that was more forgiving than playable may be better for me. I can get a really good deal right now in the Tour Burners. I can get a 1 times used set with 4-PW, SW, AW, GW for $400. So basically I am confused and am looking for some advice on these clubs. The Tour Burners may be ok but I haven’t hit them and have no way to really test them out like I did the 09 Burners. The Tour part of the name scares me a little bit since I don’t have the best swing yet and I want to be slicing all the time. So pardon the ignorance, any advice would be helpful. I try to talk to the guys in Dick’s but I don’t feel like I get much info that will help me personally. I get mostly propaganda and not advice. Thanks, David
  3. I went ahead and bought it. I got the Burner 9.5 with a regular flex shaft. The one I hit was the draw version with a stiff shaft and I was hitting 275 pretty consistently. The guy in the store said I should get the regular flex but he didn't measure my swing speed. My buddy had the stiff shaft and I had to close the face a little to not slice. I hope the regular will be ok for me. We'll see.
  4. I currently have an Old Big Bertha 11 degree driver. A good drive for me will travel about 225-250yds. I hit this club ok but not very consistently. I recently tried friends Taylormade Burner. The bigger sweet spot was a definite advantage. I was hitting a consistent 275 and mostly straight. I had more straight shots that with the Big Bertha. I am going to be taking some lessons here soon. I have always heard to not spend money on a driver until you get your swing down. Since I am going to be taking lessons and learning to correct my mistakes would be a good idea to get the driver I want to learn how to hit now. Or wait and learn to hit the one I have and then get a new one later? Thanks, David
  5. That’s hard to compare. Different, times, equipment and physic. Like comparing Ali to Tyson.
