  1. I currently play the same clubs as you but with the non-flighted PX 6.5's. I am demo'ing a set of Nike Pro Cavity for a few weeks with True Temper Dynalite Stiff. I have to say... they're pretty refreshing. I tried the Flighted PX's when I bought my Callaways and I hit them way too high. What is your typical miss with your current clubs?
  2. Just wondering as I've been flipping through here today..... how many of you 15+ and up handicappers have bought clubs right off the shelf and never had them setup for you? Do yourself a favor guys and get them bent. Lie angle can jack you around. If you draw the ball alot and can't figure out why... there's a good chance your clubs are too upright and need to be flattend out. Just a little advice to you guys. I never really was an equipement guy up till about 3 years ago. I go see this guy now who bends every single club as needed. I hit every club on a lie board and he bends them then we recheck them again after I hit them. You guys can improve pretty easily by having the proper fitted clubs. Never just buy clubs off the rack. Get fitted for some by hitting on a launch monitor and see what you really need. ESP. with drivers. Good luck guys.....
  3. You also have to look at equipment. Lot's of people leave that out. Put the old school equipment in the hands of these guys and you won't be seeing such low scores. Tom Watson's British this year was a perfect example. In Tom's Prime he had to hit a 2 iron to go 214 yards on 18 Turnberry they said..... this year he ripped a 4 iron from 220 I believe it was. Balls stop better now, courses have better grasses now, drivers go WAAAAY longer now. It's a totally different game b/c of equipment. Tiger is going to pass Jack's record no doubt about it. He'll NEVER come close to 15 2nd places in majors though. To me that's astounding! To this golfer though..... Jack will ALWAYS be the man in my book. I never saw Jack curse on TV like Tiger the Sailor does. Tiger will never be the sportsmen that Jack is. Just my $.02.
  4. Don't mind the trucks but here's a pic of my old house's front lawn. This is pretty tall and was cut probably the next day. St. Augustine grass has big thick fat blades and the grass is pretty thick. Hope this helps out in some ways.
  5. Well let's see what he did in his time off.... he started a golf course design company, he had vertigo which didn't help his game, back issues, broke his wrist snow boarding, and watched his kids grow up a little bit. Anyone have any idea what tour pro's go through with their kids playing? They never see them. Ask any player on the Champ. Tour about what's the one drawback about playing tour golf. They all say the same thing. I missed my kids growing up. Someone shouldn't be dogged b/c you don't know anything about them and what they were going through. It's easy for someone to sit on a computer and say that a player doesn't have any heart b/c they don't know what was going on in their lives. It's no secret that he had injuries. I just don't like to see someone dog someone b/c they took care of his personal responsiblities and took care his family which was more important than golf at the time while he healed and they tried to figure out why he was expierencing virtago. How can he play when he can't even walk straight?
  6. Congrats buddy. Glad to hear it. Keep it up and the your scores will keep dropping. Spend more time at the range than the course though. Use a club to keep your feet on target so you take one variable out of your setup. Then work from there and you'll be surprised at the difference in a little while. Good luck man! Keep it up!
  7. That's a great question. There's one hole here at my home course that has St. Augustine grass on the side hill of the green to keep shots from going into the water if you land there. I've been there a few times over the years. What I do is play my 54* instead of my 60* and play a flop shot. It's worked out a few times for me. I'd take an extra club or 2 for the added thickness of it if I were you. The St. Augustine will grab the club and slow it down obviously therefore needing more club. Good luck bro. Hope it works out for ya. By the way..... all the houses down here have St. Augustine grass in our yards.
  8. My most enjoyable round was yesterday. Shot a 67(5 under) at my home course. Birdied 18 to polish it off.
  9. Dude.... you're clueless. He quit to TAKE CARE OF HIS WIFE! His wife had a difficult preg. and was bed ridden during the whole preg. How is taking care of your wife not having heart? If anything he has more heart than you do. It was a simple choice. Learn some facts about people before you make assumptions. You know the old saying about making assumptions right?
  10. I play a 54.10, 56.14 and a 60.04 More bounce is better for the sand and less is better for chips/fairway shots.
  11. I'm sorry to say but that's pretty ignorant. How do you know how much "heart" he has? If he didn't have "heart" then why the hell is he back out there again trying to play competitive golf? Why isn't he just staying at home and working? Some people on the internet just baffle me.
  12. Personally...... I can't stand JM. That guy gets on my nerves. There are just a few GREAT putters. Crenshaw, Bob Charles, Mark McNulty, Loren Roberts, and TIGER. I'm not much of a Tiger fan everyone. Bash me if you will. I respect the guy b/c he is probably going to be flat out the Greatest Player ever. Tiger may be the best pressure putter of all time. When he needs to make a putt to win........ he does. I do believe that Tiger has had to work on his putting whereas the others, it just came naturally. Look at Mark McNulty...... he uses a freakin' Bullseye putter that's about 30 years old! Occasionally he'll use an Oddy but always goes back to that old ass Putt Putt looking thing. You know you're one hell of a putter when you use something like that.
  13. Hey everyone. I'm Harrison. Live here in PVB, Fl..... home of The Players. I'm a 5.1 index. Home course is Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and I get to play TPC Sawgrass usually 5-6 times/year. You guys gotta come down and play it sometimes. Nothing like playing the 17th Island hole. Hope to meet and maybe one day play with some of you guys. Take care and looking forward to hanging out here in "The Sand Trap".
  14. I've grown up with DD. I run into his Dad on Sundays at our club playing in our Men's Tourney and DD will occasionally grace us with his presence. He's one hell of a player. I really hope that he can get back to his old self again. He's been playing good and bad. It's time for the bad to diminish. Growing up here in Jacksonville/Ponte Vedra Beach you just are a DD fan. Watching him win the TPC(The Players as everyone else knows it but us locals still call it the TPC) was one of the coolest things. Him and Fred Funk being from here and winning that tourney is so special. DD growing up here and going to the TPC every year and them finally winning it for himself was just so cool to see and I was so glad I was there on Sunday to watch him raise that trophy. Remembering walking though the halls of Episcopal High School seeing him, knowing he was going to be on tour one day, and then seeing him win "our" tourney here is something I'll never forget. I remember in Study Hall asking the golf coach who was our teacher for study hall if David was ever going to go pro......... he said, "Oh he'll go Pro, and he'll win ALOT." I've never forgotten that, and glad it came true. I just hope DD can get it going again. I admire him for what he did for his wife and taking the time off. Nothing is more important than family, even the PGA tour.
  15. I played yesterday and shot the lowest round in my life. 67 5 under. 34 on the front and 33 on the back. 6 birdies, 1 bogey, and 11 pars. I did it at my home course of Ponte Vedra Inn and Club here in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl. I birdied 18 putting it 3 feet from the pin. Afterwards I headed straight to the 19th hole. It was a good day and I'm still getting phone calls from people about it. Ahhhhh...... I'm in heaven.

    Age

There's a bunch of youngin's in here. I'm 34 but feeling older and older everyday. I used to play 36 and 54 holes in a day. I played 36 on Monday and the ol' back was HURTIN'!! I wish I had my skills I have now in my old 18 year old body.
  17. I'm a stay at home dad.......
  18. I play Vokey wedges and love them. The spin milled will defintely eat balls up like was said earlier. I have to replace my wedges about 2x/year as well. The spin though is awesome. I play about 3-4/week. I've got a 54, 56, and a 60. 54 and 60 are Spin Milled and my 56 isn't.
