  1. Day 18 (18 May 25) - Worked with the LW on low flighted chips (10-20yds) focused on getting quick stops - again working with the trail hand drill to deliver a consistent club face to the ball.

  3. Day 17 (17 May 25) - Grandson put in to play golf after his Little League game today. Got us a 2 pm tee time - and we pretty much had a wide open course. We had a blast just enjoying the round. He almost had an eagle 2 on 8 as his approach hit and rolled by the cup barely missing stopping 15” past. Overall it was one of my more consistent rounds (82 (41/41 split - no dbl bogies, 4 up and down pars, 30 putts total). Looking forward to more rounds and seeing this kid grow his game.

  5. Day 16 (16 May 25) - Played in the Friday men’s group shootout - did okay on the front (5 over 41), back was wheels on/wheels par-dbl-par-dbl-par-dbl-bogie-bogie-dbl (11 over 47). Overall - it was about recovering. Best part of the round was the chip in birdie on 8 and then almost a 2nd chip in birdie on 9.

  7. Day 15 (15 May 25) - Solo round today (my Thurs partner is on a family trip) - so I made it a Two Ball Worst Ball round along with making it a back and forth between gold and white tees. This meant on the 1st tee I played from the “white” tee box two tee shots (Hole 2 played from the “gold” tees - again two balls off the tee). Then the approach was played from the worst of the two tee shots (if one is in the rough or OB and the other in the fairway - the former is where you have to play), likewise if both tee shots are in the fairway but you mishit one and it’s 20yds shorter, you pick up the longer ball and go back to the shorter one and play from there. On the green the “ball furthest from the pin” is where you putt from. If you hole out you still have to roll the 2nd putt, if you miss then you play another 2rolls of the ball from that spot. It really stings to hole out and know it’s not good unless you hole the 2nd. Likewise if you miss the first and hole the 2nd, you have to still have to play from the miss of the 1st. The goal - to be bogie or better. The end result - it creates a mental focus that is very competitive in nature. How did it go? Shot an even 90 off par 72, playing from alternate tee boxes. Only 2 dbl bogies (one on the front, one on the back) - but also had two pars. The pars came from tee shots and approaches all ending relatively close to each other (15yds or less apart). Words of caution - (1) This is a slow course day exercise as you are literally playing twice as many shots on each hole; (2) you cannot get mad, you have to remain in the moment; (3) accept the idea the potential for bogie or worse is very possible.

  9. Day 14 (14 May 25) - More work with the trail hand drill I’ve been working the past few days - working with the wedges in the backyard. Starting to feel the pieces coming together…

  11. Day 13 (13 May 25) - Nice break in the rain just after mid-day, so got outside to continue the trail hand drill - moved up to 7i but still with hard foam balls. Starting to see a smoother transition into the downswing and more consistent ball first contact. Kept the swings to about 3/4 speed as I work on this small adjustment in the swing.
  12. Wordle 1,424 4/6* 🟩⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟨⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟨⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 blew the birdie - settled for par
  13. Day 12 (12 May 25) - A day of light drizzle, able to get outside and continue the work with the trail palm drill. All wedges again today - rehearsing the swing with the open palm on the back of the grip and then making smooth swings through with the wedge of the moment. Looking to see this work translate into better iron play.

  15. Day 11 (11 May 25) - Got a break in the weather, took a few minutes to pick back up in the trail palm drill with 8i and 6i w/hard foam balls in the backyard. Moved to the wedges for a few swings with the same drill but with real balls.

  17. Day 10 (10 May 25) - Worked on setup and staying slow mo thru the swing - focused on sequencing weight shift on lead foot before starting down swing.

  19. Day 9 - 25 (9 May 25) Weekly shootout with the men’s group. It was a very ‘meh kind of round - especially on the green - 36 total putting strokes taken, of that I had 5 3putts. Granted the greens were iffy as they have been struggling with the heat and lack of rain. Also my normal solid 8i was a chunk master - only iron misbehaving today. Much to glean from today…still was fun competing in the shootout.

  21. Day 8 (8 May 25) - Rinse, repeat of yesterday’s drill session with the subbing of the 54 in lieu of the 7i and of course real balls (kept the shots to less than 30yds). Made a total of about 40 swings focusing again on the palming of the trail hand to get a smooth swing thru. Side bar drill - after school the grandson asked me to chip foam balls for him to hit with his plastic bat (two fold drill - I get to really focus on a target window (and I had to really focus) and he gets to work on swing timing - and he was killing it)….

  23. Day 7 (7 May 25) - while catching a bit of the Golf Channel’s coverage of the pros practicing, I caught where Ludwig Aberg was talking about palming his trail hand while working on his swing to prevent flipping. I recall working on a much similar drill a while back and opted to work with it in the backyard today with 7i and hard foam balls. Hit about 30 shots total, and made for very focused attention on the trail hand. Made for a solid ball striking focused session.

  25. Day 6 (6 May 25) - early morning nine hole round with my good friend Mike. Played a six-club setup (7w-5h-7i-9i-54-Putter) as we were playing up a set of tees. Solid thru - 3 pars, 4 bogies, wheels came off on last two with dbls on each. Still a good round of working on shot planning and making less than full swings.
