  1. yeah,it sounds like i really do...i used to play a lot when i was a teen(in my late 30s now),but stopped playing and am lucky to get out once every 2 years...i inherited my dad's old clubs and never really thought about the grip especially as i rarely play...but i want to start playing regularly as i love the game,so i want to get off on the right track...good clubs, grips, lessons etc... thanks for your input guys.... zak.
  2. I swung my friend's irons earlier...he had Golf Pride grips(Golf Pride Whisper to be exact)...wow,they felt so great...they felt like they stuck to your hands...so much better than my old 15 year old grips...i now believe that i've being holding onto my clubs a little too tightly... Are they expensive? Zak.
  3. yeah,i'm going to take more lessons and practice a bit more before i take the plunge and buy new clubs...i'll give those burners a try though...and the mizunos...
  4. thanks guys for your advice...is2linda,yes i intend to take it seriously,i will try out the clubs you mentioned...cheers... thanks shindig for your very detailed reply...i by the sounds of things, the GI clubs would be better for me.... i checked out that golf digest list and wrote down some of their recommendations...will try them out... deafheaven, you're about the 5th person to recommend the S9s to me in the last couple of days!
  5. thanks subpar,that's what i'll do so.
  6. Hi everyone. I'm starting to play golf again after many years. From a driving range visit,i found out i can still play my irons well and have started go get some lessons. Handicap i'd say would be in the region of 20.Maybe a bit more. Aim to buy new clubs in the next few weeks. Was planning to get them custom fitted also. As I am to get more lessons, should I wait longer to get new clubs as my swing may change due to the lessons? If I were to get new clubs next week for example, get them custom fit to suit my CURRENT swing, could it be possible that my new clubs may not suit me in the long run as my swing changes(due to the lessons)? I'm not sure what to do....can anyone advise? Zak.
  7. I am buying new clubs in the next few weeks. I haven't played golf regularly in 15 years but wish to start up again. Went to the driving range and discovered I can still hit my irons pretty well.Got a lesson also and plan to get some more. I would say i have a handicap of around 22. I did some research and was interested in buying some game improvement clubs. The clubs I have are 15 yrs old. From asking around/reviews online,I have narrowed my choice down to : Mizuno Mx 100 irons (maybe 200???) Nike Slingshot irons Nike Ignite irons TaylorMade Burner Plus irons Callaway Big Bertha Irons TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Irons Nike Sumo irons Cobra S9 irons Should I knock any off the list? Note sure about drivers, putters yet...suggestions welcome... I have discovered now that there are super improvement golf clubs. I am confused as to which category i fall into, improvement or super improvement. As I said,I can still hit the ball pretty well,i'm a bit inconsistent but with practice and more lessons I'm thinking that i may not need the super improvement ones,or maybe i do...it's driving me mad....are improvement for handicaps under 20,and super improvement for over 20??? Are super improvement for total beginners? Any help would be very welcome.... Zak.
  8. for me,it's jack...both great players but jack's personality and dignity soars above tiger's....
  9. http://www.stepasidegolfcourse.com/ not really my local, just played there more than others in dublin...plan to play others more as it's only a 9 hole...
  10. i sell t-shirts at music concerts...my boss runs many concessions at various music venues...
