  1. Yet there are stickies for best shot of the week and what did you shoot today? I think the whole experience of the hole in one is quite a moment in ones golfing life. I guess I'll relive the glory by myself and just tell everyone here how great that chip-in on 18 for par was.
  2. Is there an interest in starting a Sand Trap Hole-in-One Club? Maybe have a sticky and we can talk about the course, hole, club, ball and shot of our life. Just wanted to throw it out there for discussion.
  3. I don't think your swing is to blame, just need to train the right muscles to do the work.
  4. I have Tendinitis in my left rotator cuff. My shoulder bothers me when I reach the top of my backswing just like you. I went to physical therapy that specialized in sports injuries and the results were immediate. They worked w/ me on exercises that strengthened the muscles around the rotator cuff and worked on range of motion of the shoulder. The people I went to are very good and they understood that not playing was not an option. Good luck w/ the shoulder.
  5. I love the Baffler 20*. Getting ready to order the 23* 4 hybrid today w/ my winnings from our club championship. Very easy to hit w/ a med/high trajectory and slight workability. I am amazed at how softly the ball lands on the green w these hybrids.
  6. Tour Players Ogilvy - pro MB Villegas - pro CB Holmes - S2 forged/pro CB Poulter - pro CB/MB Gore - pro CB/MB I think most would rather play Titleist if your paying the same cash for the forged irons. I am pretty brand loyal to the Acushnet Co. myself.
  7. I just pulled my Cobra 4+ wood out of my bag. Replaced w/ a S91 3 wood. I liked the workability off the tee of the 4 wood but I prefer the 3 wood from the fairway due to the lower profile. It's also is a few yards longer and and has the same shaft as my driver. I had a Sonartec 4 wood and couldn't hit it. It was a very nice looking club though. Golfsmith gave me $270 for it on a trade in.
  8. Cobra Baffler - 1st utility club - 1975 Cobra graphite shafts - first U.S. club manufacturer to offer stock graphite shafted woods and irons - 1985 Cobra O/S irons - Introduced the first full set of oversized irons. - 1992.
  9. I have always found Cobra's to be very forgiving. I have tried several other drivers in the past and I keep coming back to Cobra. I can hit it off the toe and it still goes 210 - 220.
  10. Funny how the video of Brian Gay's swing (9 iron) shows the ball is clearly behind center. I would say the ball position is just in front of right heel. When on the range you can set up 2 tees instead of painting a line, and you can see whether or not your divot starts before or after the imaginary line between the tees.
  11. A majority of PUBLIC courses in Phoenix overseed with a combo of Rye and Poa Triv. or rye/poa triv/bent. The rye usually gets mowed out since it can not take a low mow height as can the poa triv and bent. The rye germinates first and establishes quicker than poa triv and bent.
  12. I played the original 845 Silver Scots for a few years and absolutely loved them. I switched to the forged Titleist because I wanted newer technology and forged clubs. I never really saw the 845's as game improvement irons since they have much smaller heads than the King Cobras I played before them. I still keep them for a back up set and for friends that play and don't have a set of clubs.
  13. overseeding is absolutely crucial to the AZ tourist season. People visiting from the rest of the country expect perfect conditions and green green grass. The overseed rates are much higher than you see in the South East. There are a few courses such as Troon North who have bent grass greens which is a cool season grass that does not get overseeded. Expect to pay big money at Troon North in season.
  14. The 07 burner is 1* closed. They do make an 07 "draw" version which is 2* closed. It also depends on the brand on how much the face is closed. My Cobra S91 is .5* closed. The Pro version is 1.5* or 2* open. personally, I didn't like the 07 Burner, I thought it was too much closed and the shaft was way too light and whippy.
  15. their website has some good info. http://www.royalprecision.com/royalprecision/
  16. Is Missouri in Bizarro World?
  17. Might just be something you need to get used to wearing. Most of the sport sun glasses you can't even tell you are wearing them because of the "wrap around" design. Being in AZ I can't walk outside w/ out shades on. Sunlight can be very damaging to the eyes.
  18. During the summer I play a lot of courses in Scottsdale. I play in a league at Coldwater and usually will play anywhere in the valley. During the winter I stick w/ Coldwater, Cave Creek and anything that I can afford
  19. Have you noticed that the TP reds now say "Tournament Edition" on the box. I asked a guy at Golfsmith about this and was told that the original 2009 TP Reds were too hot and could not be played in tournaments. Anyone know anything about this?
  20. You will have to stick to muni's and executive courses at that price in the winter. You should be able to find some courses to play in the $30 -$50 range. Weekdays will be better priced. As time gets nearer look me up and I can help you out. I play every week and am always looking for good golfers to play with. Brandon
  21. Congrats, I can clearly remember the first time I broke 80. (club tourney to boot) I came home yelling"I did it, I finally did it." The wife knew exactly what I was talking about.
