Started playing very sporadically a little under a year ago... got a CC membership less than 6 months ago. Played 18 once every couple weeks and wasn't making progress... shooting 120s. Handicap had been at 36 for a while. Took a couple group lessons at beginning that didn't help all that much. Then took few private lessons from a highly recommended coach and made a huge help: first lesson was sort of general stuff, second lesson chipping and pitching, third lesson more time on driver and a little practice on hybrid. Also been trying to hit the range every 1-2 weeks for about an hour. Have a 1-year-old at home so not a lot of free time.
THEN FINALLY, this past Saturday had a "double bogey" back 9 (+16). And yesterday, shot a 106... BROKE 110 FOR THE FIRST TIME! And that was with still messing up my driver pretty bad on at least 3-4 holes. I feel like I can see the path to breaking a 100! Biggest change was being able to better hit my 6-iron and driver. My 7-8-9 and wedges are pretty good. Putting isn't bad either..
Still too afraid to pull out my 4H and 5H on the course... I mis-hit my hybrids fat A LOT because my head drops down. Any pointers on how to hit hybrids better?
I have an Odyssey two-ball fang putter with a regular grip... but I really want to get one of those SuperStroke grips. Any tips on which ones to look into? I guess I might just have to try them out.
I know this is a rambling post, but I was just so pumped about finally breaking 110!
