EPIC!!! I tend to go with "YAHTZEE!!"
-
Ishikawa - the 18 year old mullet sporting, tourist resembling Japanese kid - rolls with a posse? Now I've officially seen/heard everything. Think I read your mind on his one Kennay. BTW very nice avatar...I'm a fan too in case you hadnt noticed ;)
-
according to the US Open announcer on NBC, they spent nearly $1 million designing and developing Ishikawa's driver. This kind of money investment into product development might have something to do with why their equipment costs so much

Check this listing for one of those rare 380cc Dymo prototypes. Is this guy smoking something funny with this price listing? http://forsale.oodle.com/view/nike-d...lray-beach-fl/

yup exactly I agree...but for golfers doing this type of lifting was essentially unheard of before tiger showed up. And to the guy who made the dumbbell comment, it is still considered bench press with dumbbells. "bench press" refers to the position and the motion, not whether a bar or dumbbells is being used.
-
Believe it. A friend of my dad's knew one of Tiger's trainers very well, and back in his prime he was throwing up 225-250 on the bench no problem. Not sure about nowadays, but he was definitely doing it a few years ago.
-
Couldnt agree more. NFL lineman are REQUIRED to weigh that much in order to perform their job. They are constantly moving, pushing, blocking, running despite weighing over 300 pounds. Have you ever seen these guys after they retire? Many of them actually LOSE weight and are in my better physical condition when their career is over. Exhibit A: Mark Schlereth on ESPN - take a look at that guy now and compare it to him during his playing days with the Broncos.

The "one really fat guy"...are you kidding me? Good lord man there are PLENTY of overweight middle aged guys with guts playing and making lots of money on the PGA tour. If you are so convinced otherwise and want me to post pictures I will do that for you. And as far as posting pictures of ourselves, now THAT'S getting off topic. Not that it matters but I am 29 years old and in the best shape of my life, play multiple sports, and run 5 miles 5 times weekly along with weight lifting mixed in between. I can only speak for myself here, but I'm no hypocrite. Not saying that there is no chance that I may be a bit overweight by the time I hit middle-age, but to me when this is your profession - what you get PAID TO DO - it seems that you should take your physical conditioning a bit more seriously.
-
have to agree with you here. I'm normally not a Callaway guy but I loved the look and feel of this driver when I hit it
-
I realize that the subtle pear-shape is not technically "traditional". I guess maybe what I was trying to say was more "compact" than a lot of heads these days. It's just not overwhelming to my eyes like some of those other monsters that I mentioned above.
-
Yup this. Same shaft I have on my driver and I hit it night and day better than any other shaft I have ever played.
-
ummmm NOPE. It has a much more compact and low profile head than many of the beastly and strangely shaped driver heads out there today (see: TM superfast, Nike machspeed, Cobra ZL, Cleveland Hibore, Callaway FT iZ, among others) and most that I have talked to agree with this statement. No idea why you would possibly feel otherwise.

That does not look like great shape to me. The only shape I see is round. The fact is that golf is a game that requires a minimal amount of athleticism, but a great amount of hand/eye/body coordination. I agree about the basketball comment though. I've seen plenty of college football players who look like absolute morons when you put them on the basketball court. Different skill set and different muscle groups.
-
I know a few DII college football strong safeties, and a lot of those guys do not look like they can come close to putting up what Tiger does (or did at his peak) in the weight room. IDK what kind of DIII college football team you're watching, but in my book that's just a step above junior college - which is to say, not very impressive.

Thanks for all the help in this thread guys. I ended up finding a great ebay deal on a brand new 2008 Mizuno T-series 53 degree wedge to replace my old 56 degree. I absolutely love this wedge; at first I was a little hesitant that it would not be as versatile as my old 56 degree but I hit it further and am playing it better around the greens and from the bunkers so it was a great decisions. I also just bought a 48 degree CG15 from ebay to serve as my gap wedge between my 43 degree PW and 53 degree Mizzy. Still waiting for that in the mail but cannot wait to give the full set an 18 hole run.
-
TaylorMade R7 limited with the Matrix Ozik stiff shaft. I love the head of this club because it has a huge sweet spot but also looks more traditional than a lot of those monster heads these days. Also, I hit this shaft better than any other shaft on any other club i've ever owned.

definitely a beast...love his game. Plus he played for UF, which gives him even more cred in my book :)

Horrible advice: ''hit down on the ball''
bbedell replied to senorchipotle's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
A tip I got from my buddy who gives me lessons (used to be a club pro in NY) was when you're learning how to take a good divot and put backspin on the ball, imagine a picnic table right in front of you and imagine you are starting the ball out right under that table. The first time he gave me that tip the ball came out long, straight, with incredible spin on my first shot. Different tips work for different people I guess -
i'm really lost as to whether you're kidding or not. My avatar is pretty clearly not a man. And my quote was describing his swing as "insanely powerful, lower body driven"...the comma is there for a reason.
-
LMFAO at allegations of steroid usage. That's just unspeakably funny. First comes the insanely powerful, lower-body driven swing with more torque than a Mustang, then comes the injuries. And moobs? Just stop.
-
Any bets on whether these other guys can hit 8 reps of 250+lbs on the bench? The man is freakishly strong, give him his due. Before the knee surgery he was especially insane; he's slowed down a bit since, but he still has freakish strength compared to almost every other golfer you can find on the PGA tour.
-
maybe 2-3 years before the price moves at all...maybe more. Depends on the market and how they sell at the current price. The point is they are great looking irons and highly anticipated so I definitely see them selling a good number of sets at the current price
-
I was hoping someone would post that cover. I'd love to hear all about Tiger having "man boobs" like Phil right about now...can we get a similar Mickelson cover shot?
-
you have to be kidding me right now. I would bet good money that Phil could not go out and jog 5 miles right now without having a massive coronary. He's by no means a fat slob like some guys on tour these days (Tim Herron), but to put him in the same category as guys like TIGER as far as physical fitness? CMOOOOOOOOOOOOOON now
-
my comment was OBVIOUSLY referring to his style of dress on the course. We all know he's classless off of it, no newsflash there When did this turn into a "point out the obvious fact that tiger is an •••••••" thread? Again, my comment was very very very obviously referring to the fact that I feel he DRESSES with far more class, not behaves that way And Tiger wears those baggier pants because he has muscular legs the size of tree trunks. The tight pants might work for thinner guys like Camillo and Adam Scott, Tiger has a bit more substance to his physique...and again just to point out - NOT his personality.
