  1. the article said that buying an adjustable driver will help your swing? That's really weird it seems like all it would do is help your results by compensating for the defects in your swing.
  2. yeah as far as I'm concerned, the adjustable head position is more than enough. I'm a big believer in fixing your swing - if you have a slice, for example - as opposed to buying clubs that will compensate for the errors in your swing. However, I also realize that these Taylormade drivers, adjustable or not, are some of the best drivers on the market. Thanks for the info on the 460. The fact that it's more forgiving combined with the $100 difference in price pretty much sells me on it :)
  3. Wonder what people's thoughts are on the comparison between these drivers? Pros and cons, compare/contrast? I know the R9 costs $100 more and has the movable weights with the adjustable head position, whereas the R9 460 is cheaper and only has the adjustable head settings (Neutral, Left, Right). I went and hit the 460 at the range today and loved the way it felt and sounded. Didnt get a chance to hit the R9 yet. Is it worth the $100 upgrade?
  4. I threw my vote in for nike in an above post...they really do have great clubs in every category I'm sold
  5. def acknowledge that probability g.d. Again, if he threw his clubs in such a way that they would have been headed towards a gallery (had there been one) then I missed that part. Most times I saw him toss them towards the side of the green or throw them into the ground in front of him. Def acknowledge your point though...i like the passion, not necessarily the act.
  6. Obviously my point was that I love his passion TO AN EXTENT. "to try to win at any cost in golf is not the same as playing with passion." What other "costs" are we referring to here exactly? A repairable divot in the fairway? He is not yelling at his fellow competitors, he is not hurting anyone. Maybe I missed the part of the show where he threw a club and it hit someone...that wasnt acceptable when Tiger did it in Aus and it's not acceptable from anyone else. Guys who hit a bad shot and then sulk about it and go into the tanker disgust me...those that get angry and respond with a great shot/putt are my preference. Mike is obviously the latter, as evidenced by his results on the show.
  7. Yup, i own those bad boys...went to the shop and tested them against the Titleist AP2 irons. The Cobras literally felt and performed EXACTLY THE SAME as the AP2s for me...and with the $200 difference in price i was sold right away.
  8. My knee jerk reaction was Cobra with the great irons and drivers they have been coming out with lately. But then I realized they do not really make any great wedges so that hurts their case. I think I have to agree that Mizuno is up there at the top, probably even with Titleist. Taylormade would have to be just a step below those two, probably even with Cleveland. Also, a case has to be made for Nike as they have a very wide array of clubs to choose from ranging all the way from Drivers down to putters.
  9. I was very happy to see Mike win this competition. Tony and his brother (and their d-bag friend with the oakley glasses) had egos the size of gorillas and just really bugged the living crap out of me. Mike on the other hand focused on his own game and seemed to just really strive to be the best golfer he knew he should be rather than focusing on his competition. Some purists may dislike his club throwing and such but as a former athlete I LOVE seeing this type of passion out of a guy who is competing.
  10. anyone who is on the fence about whiskey, specifically bourbon, give this a try. I rewarded myself for finishing my 3rd year of vet school last year and bought a bottle. Best bourbon you will ever put your lips on. Expensive but worth every penny. http://www.hirschbourbon.com/
  11. yup totally agree. I hit it at the range at a local shop in Sacramento and immediately fell in love with the sound and feel the driver makes when you hit it. The only criticism I have (and which I have heard/read elsewhere) is that the stock club length is 46" which is much too long for the average golfer (like myself) and creates more problems in regards to accuracy than it helps with distance. This is a simple fix though if you buy the club from your local shop and get fitted so that they can cut down to a length that works.
  12. havent played much the past month or so as I have been studying for my national board exam The best shot I had was last weekend when I got a hole in one on Tiger Woods 2008 :)
  13. Last time I played was last month I believe I shot an 85 at the local muni...not great for me but not too bad considering how poorly i was striking the ball most of the round
  14. Tiger...total freak...in more ways than one
