  2. I'm very new to the forum so, I don't know if I'm eligible to receive credit for accomplishments in the recent past. But, here goes: On February 20, 2020, after competing through and winning six matches, I won our club Men's Match play Championship for 2020. On June 14, 2020 I recorded my first (and so far only) Eagle. It was on our 18th hole here at Panther Run Golf Course. I was 87 yards out for my third (approach shot). I struck a perfect approach wedge that landed onto the green, bounced once and rolled into the cup for my Eagle 3. Fairways and Greens, Frank
  3. My ten year old Nephew is currently staying with us for a few days. We live on a golf course and I like to play 3 to 5 rounds a week. I asked to have my young nephew have permission to ride with me in our Tuesday morning foursome in the hope that I could get him to disconnect from his video games and other electronic "tethers". I also wanted for him to see the various aquatic birds and alligators along our course. I wanted us to just be together on the course. He doesn't own clubs (yet). To begin, I talked with him about etiquette. I taught him where to stand when others were teeing off. I showed him how to respect the other players in our foursome. Honestly, I didn't think that he would last all nine holes without getting bored. To my surprise, he didn't once complain, he was a perfect gentlemen and my friends (all of us retirees and Grandfathers) were completely impressed by his behavior. Why am I mentioning this here? To remind everyone the importance of introducing this love of the game with our young people. What did I shoot today? Honestly, I forget. I played well but I forgot the score. Because for once in a very long time for me, numbers weren't really that important to me. Fairways and Greens, Frank
  4. Thank you all for the nice reception. It's good to be here. Frank
  5. Playing this past Sunday on the second day of our club championship, I struck very solid 6 hybrid into the wind from about 155 yards out from the tee of a par 3 on the back 9. My ball came to rest pin high and about 8 feet away. Prior to purchasing my new 6 hybrid, I had been struggling with striking my 6 iron for quite some time. I'm very pleased that I decided to switch over to a 6 hybrid. The greens were fast that day so sadly, I have to report that I did miss my birdie putt and was only able to record a par for that particular hole.
  6. I found this forum during an article search related to golf. Thank you for allowing me to join and I look forward to learning as much as I can from the other members. Just a little bit about me, I have been playing golf for 30 years and have lived in Scotland while I served in the military. I was able to play a few local courses there in between my work and family schedule. Having fully retired now, I am able to commit 3 days a week to plane and the other 3 days to practice on my short game and putting. I currently have a GHIN index of 10.6 and I am hoping to lower that to a single digit very soon. Frank
  7. I manage a Saturday couples group for neighbors and friends at our Golf Club. Needless to say, we have a wide variety of skill levels in our group. Some of our ladies are just beginning to learn how to play golf and get frustrated easily. Of course, slow play frustrates everyone. So, I asked our group to consider observing the net double bogey rule or maximum score rule (see rule 21.2). Doing this has helped strike a balance between quality play and allowing players to feel as though they are not holding up or inconveniencing players behind them. Utilizing the maximum score rule allows a player who records their score in GHIN by individual hole by hole method to do so with integrity.
