  1. Starting late might be an idea reading the posts. I was talking about actually playing alone, not getting paired. Then can just relax and play at own speed etc
  2. Anyone been playing alone this year? My main two golf friends aren’t able to play at the moment (one also has been insisting on range only and not playing when I meet him) and my other golf friend has quit (we formed a four ball sometimes a few years back). I’ll play with my dad when he’s back in the country, but til then will be playing alone. Are courses happy for solo golfers post COVID happening and what about if you aren’t a member? I’ve only played solo as a club member, is a course going to get annoyed if I book multiple rounds solo when I’m not a member? (I mean booking, then playing, then making another booking - I wouldn’t book more than a round in advance personally). any input useful Jack
  3. 1 round isn't a sample size worth worrying about. 20 rounds, yes.
  4. Orange is best for visibility.
  5. Well, his only reasoning to me was caring about others. He never said about uni-tasking to me, or anything worthwhile for that matter, you added that.
  6. If you care what others think, and live your life by others, then that's your problem. It's funny you quoted me and Matt. +1.5 index and care what others think, your mental game isn't as good as mine and never will be.

  8. Interesting. Mine is Ben Sayers, hence me referencing lofted putters in the title of the thread (rather than calling them chippers). Ben Sayers XF Pro Chipper is built like a putter, aware it's called a chipper though. I can see the Cleveland smart sole 4 chipper is built like an iron/wedge, if that's the one you're using. I didn't consider using it for punch shots, suppose that could be an idea if I get into trouble under a tree/bush - but have a decent enough lie to use it. I will request a title change to Putters/Chippers (can't do it myself anymore - edit feature no longer available on the original post) - so the title is up to the mods/admins now.
  9. Pros (and amateurs playing an the top level) have amazing short games already with a range of clubs. I was talking about people without a top class short game. In particular those bad at chipping around the green. Would love to know the percentage of golfers that carry one. I’m sure plenty of high handicappers in particular would benefit by carrying one.
  10. Personally think unless you have a top class short game then the club is beneficial, and worth having in the bag. Hence I made the thread.
  11. What's the deal with more amateurs (male and female) not having these in the bag to use around the green? Am I missing something?
  12. You're right with this comment. If you want to play from the front and leave the D at home do that. If the course has par 5s it's worth having D in the bag incase you get the urge to use it though.
  13. I think I'll keep using it until 2024. Just as well since it is a decent club for me currently. Today it stalked the 50 yard flag on the range well. Thanks for the info everyone.
  14. OK. Thanks for this. Don’t want to be using a club the pros aren’t allowed. Feels wrong.
  15. A friend suggested my 60 degree Cleveland Tour Action 900 wedge wasn't legal to play with, not on tour at least. Just wondered if anyone knew before I go down the rabbit hole of researching it? Many thanks.
  16. Ordered some SuperSpeed Golf Sticks. Thanks. I'm hoping to regain some distance after reading the replies. Scoring better/respectably from my current tees is the current goal. My club only has ladies, members and competitions tees. I play from the members.
  17. It's just I play multiple sports including strength ones, so I could blast it along way if I wanted. I had stiffer shafts before surgery, now I just use regular graphite ones. Oddly enough my strength is still up there reasonably high in the gym, I have lost loads off my golf shots though. Guess the speed has been lost from the attempted gain in stability from the surgerys by the surgeon. My 150 yard 7 iron is comparable to my 200 yard 7 iron for accuracy. That's the issue basically.
  18. If I hit more than 7 Iron I was worried about not putting the ball in play. Sometimes I hit more club, sometimes I took up to a 4 iron usually off the tee on par 5s where the fairways tend to be wider, or on par 4s with wider fairways I might have taken 6/5/4. Getting it out there 200 yards is reasonable on almost every hole so it was OK.
  19. 7 Iron AND Putter.
  20. That is clutching to make a stat surely. Hilarious stuff. (The last line). Do you know which iron he used to miss the fairway? Thanks.
  21. Try a few . Use the one you make the most putts with. Give them all a decent length go practice wise.
  22. I know he's done well, not saying he hasn't. He could always change the driver to a higher loft after a bad driving round. Then go back to lower loft (dare I say it even lower than 5 degrees is possible) if he's smashing everything straight.
  23. Haha. He does swing pretty fast and uniquely. That's the only thing I can come up with to try to help him. Playing a 5 degree driver does seem dumb. Gives him less forgiveness off the tee. He'd be better off sacrificing some distance for some extra loft and accuracy I think.
  24. I think a driver or wood would be ideal. I need to groove them on the range. I've only been practicing with irons. Hitting 5 iron 170 off the tee isn't good enough on some holes, they become a 3 shotter. The key is getting the ball in play and avoiding big scores though for the casual player to enjoy themselves. My friend has a 3H, I was never able to hit those things. Maybe I can convince him to let me have a shot with it on the range to see. Yes the second line is key learning my yardages will help my scores a lot when I get onto the course. I try to work on flexibility and strength when I can. Thanks for posting.
