How many wraps of tape = midsize grip?
Gilly replied to Zack's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
For what it's worth...I double wrap my standard grips so they are a tad larger than standard. Perfect fit for me, however, it sounds like you play over-oversized My .02 -

Ya know! It seems like every opinion I read about these drivers is positive, but there's just not that many opinions out there. LOL I will have to say, their recent ad showing Jamie Sadlowski's long drive competition swing in uber slow mo is beyond impressive. Dood's got a legit swing and crazy distance!

^ +1 I've been wondering if anyone else on this board has had any experience with the Adams drivers.
-
I'm glad this topic was brought up because I've been thinking about looking into an Adams driver as well. My Nike is starting to show some significant wear so I think I'll be in the market soon. If anyone else has some feedback, I'd be interested in hear it too. Thanks in advance!

Another Cleveland fan here. Played their TA3's for many years and loved them! If I were to ever put down my Nike Blades, I would either get another set of Cleveland's or the Bridgestone equivalent. Good luck with your decision. My .02

Got my DG X100's.... X100's Vs Project X 7.0
Gilly replied to CrazyXGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sweet mother of pearl! 118!? That's pretty insane! My 6-iron swing speed averaged 102. I can't even imagine an additional 16mph. Yikes! As for the PX 7.0. I had a custom 7-iron built for me with a 7.0 in it. It felt great, but to be honest, I thought it was a tad too stiff for my liking. This might be right down your ally though with those kind of speeds. When comparing the X100 to the 7.0, I think the 7.0 would be a much better choice for you at your current speeds. Swing the 7.0 for a day and then go back to the X100's...they'll feel like a buggy whip. LOL -
Once again, nice score! If I hadent purchased my NFB's these were next in line. Amazing setup at address IMO. Hopefully the weather improves by this weekend for you. Can't say the weather in Portland is any better Cheers!

I love my Nike bag!

Why'd you choose the clubs you play?
Gilly replied to mutadayen's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have always played hand-me-down clubs from my grandfather and father; whether they were a set of irons, a driver, wedge or putter. Out of the 7 sets of hand-me-down irons, 5 were blades. So, since I have played blades the majority of my golf career, I figured I'd stick to them. Besides, I've always loved the way they feel and the feedback you get when you pure a ball. I made the move to the Nike Forged Blades because the groves on my TA3's were going down hill FAST. I started looking and found a set for an insane price. They looked to only have been played a handful of rounds and came with S400's. I sold my TA3s to a buddy for the same price I paid for the NFB's and then extended +1, re-griped with some Golf Pride multi's (white/blk) and stuck'em 2 degrees upright...the rest is history. I now have my dream set! Driver - My Dad won in a tournament and couldn't hit it, so I re-shafted it and gave it a try. I've now had it for 4 yrs. 3-wood - Same deal except I didn't re-shaft Irons - see above paragraph Wedges - Santa bought me one a few years back...I quickly had my Titleist's up for sale Putter - One of the 17 putters my dad owns. My brother and myself borrow and replace occasionally when they stop making puts Bag - I actually won the Nike SQ Tour Carry bag a few years ago...I love this bag! Yes, I realize I am a very luck guy to have a father who eats, breaths and sleeps this game like he does. -
As I have said in other posts, I will continue doing my golf ball purchasing through lostgolfballs.com. I am beyond pleased with my purchase of 100 Nike One Black's AAA. Shipping took 3 or 4 days to Portland, OR and when all was said and done, only cost me $41.

^ Hahaha ROFLMAO Don't you get a FREE blonde mullet wig when you purchase one of those? OP: Best looking irons = Nike Blades (biased opinion)
-
Hahaha Yeah, it's a lot of shaft for sure. Almost too much to be honest. NICE! I love the old TA1's. When it comes down to it, I guess you could say I'm a huge Cleveland fan all the way around
-
Nice! I just had a guy fit me using a CG1 tour 7-iron. He bent it 4 degrees upright and put a Project X 7.0 in it. After 20 balls I was contemplating selling my Nike Blades...but I didn't. I love those Cleveland blades! Have to be top 2 or 3 I've ever hit. Congrats man. Post pics soon!

Clevland CG14 Black Pearl wedges. Yay or Nay
Gilly replied to whitetiger94's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Cleveland wedges are the only wedges I can honestly say I will keep purchasing. I have tried several Titleist, Ping and Taylor Made options, but for me, the Cleveland's are it. My .02 -
Yup, these balls are legit. Got my bucket Of 100 Nike One Black AAA balls today and I would have to say at least 90% of the balls are practically brand new. The other 10% are definitely playable, but have slight cosmetic blems. I am beyond happy with my purchase and will be sending lostgolfballs.com a lot more business down the road! My .02

Driver loft size...difference between 8.5* - 11.5*
Gilly replied to cigarsmoke23's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
+1 Holy crap! At this point, someone call NASA. -
Absolutely! From the sounds of it, you might wanna keep that driver though, unless you've already destroyed the face. I flattened the face pretty bad on my last driver and had to upgrade. My driver club head speed is also between 120-127, however I swing a S-Flex with a 2.5 torque shortened .5 I've heard some good things about the Fubuki 73x and UST V2 Tour 8800x but have yet to hit either one. Hopefully soon though Good luck with the search and keep us posted on your fitting. My .02

So far, the only 3w I've had luck hitting consistently has been the one in my sig. I've tried two different Titleist's, a Adams, a Cleveland and a Taylor Made with no success...AT ALL! I've been able to work the ball relatively well with the Nike and at times can really get after it with a good turnout. Good luck in your searches!

I've been using the non gps version of golfshot on my iPhone for a couple months and couldn't be happier. I honestly can't believe this app is FREE! definitely worth the download!

Nice Buy! Which one did you get? I was looking at the 73x, but damn, they're hard to find & $$$. Let us know how she feels. -
Hmmmm, I understand swing weight, but have no idea what swing weights I've been playing in the past. I have no idea what an increase of 6 points will feel like. Like I said, I have always played +1 clubs so I'm assuming this won't be much of a feel difference on my end. Anyone else have some input on this topic?
-
I have always played irons that were +1 in length and loved them. However, my current setup is standard length. What are typically the effects on a shaft when you lengthen a club +1? I assume it create a "softer" flex? This might be an issue since the shafts are S300's and I was fitted for X100 or PX 7.0...Yikes, this might get expensive.
