Have you heard about the rugby teams that are using speed golf as a way of getting fit in pre-season training. It is the time you take to complete the round plus the amount of shots that you take.
Some versions of the game say that you have complete the hole when you reach the green while others say that you have to hole out!
Has anyone every tried it and what is it like?
I would choose a driver just for the heck of it. It would be soo much fun seeing my playing partner trying to get out of a bunker with a driver when it takes him 4 to get out with a lob wedge. He is a 12 handicap and there is the same bunker that he hates.
It would be soo much fun attempting the 148 yard par 3, 15th with a driver. The green is only 10 yards wide and is surrounded by water. I may have to go out onto that hole one day and try the high half cut with a driver.
Now thats fun!!!!
Although if it was in competitive i would choose a bladed 8 iron as it is easier to de-loft the club rather than add loft to it.
The thing I fail to understand is how a tour pro hits a bad shot.
Firstly there practise for, well i dont no how long but a long time
Secondally they have there equipment fitted exactly to them. For example the bounce on Tigers irons is measured to half a degree. This should mean that he should never hit a bad shot. Okay the odd one but he should not hit the ball so far offline that he has not second shot.
I love to watch the golf on TV but its becominga bit of a one man blast the ball as far as you can show
Who agrees??????
I had the idea that all high handicappers shoudl carry a bladed iron in there bag to use around the greens on chip shots. This is because all cavity back irons these day are not very easy to use around the green.
I used a bladed iron to chip the other day to chip around the green and it was amazing to use. It seemed so easy as the club slid straight under the ball and did not get caught in the turf.
My other great idea was a stand bag with wheels at the bottom. This would be great idea as when the sign come out restricting trolleys this would mean that you could carry near to the green.
One problem was that a few months ago i saw a man with a bag that he had fitted wheels to. He was struggling big time to control the bag while wheeling it so ended up carrying it the whole time.
The Nike Slingshot irons are not worth the money. I have tried them and they have no feedbacka nd just look like a spade on a stick. For a little more money you could buy the G5 irons that are top quality.
The only reason the Nike OSS are meant to be any good is because of the name. Someone has to pay Tiger's Sponsorship fees.
This is only my opinion and I am a 12 handicap so for high handicappers they may be good but I do not personally recommend them to anybody.
Do the USGA rules change from the R and A. (as i play in England) I have herd before how some rules are different like the on if the ball in the fairway is plugged.
Cheers for the Link
We have recently moved into the winter season and the signs for winter rules have come out. The other day I was playing and my playing partner wondered if he could mark his ball on the fringe of the green as it was cut to the same length.
After much debat we decided that he shouldn't mark the ball which he was happy to do. I said that the winter rules only refer to the fairway (even though there is not the term fairway in the rules of golf)
Anybody have any clearer takes on this rule?
Do not buy the Slingshot OSS. I tried them before buying my new irons and they are rubbish. They have no feel and have the biggest heads that look like a bucket on the end of a stick. (Sorry to any one who like these clubs but i do not like them)
The irons that I think are the best at the moment or the new r7 or r7 tp irons. They look great. I have not tried them but im sure that they are amazing.
The ping g5 irons are amazing i have tried them and the ping custom fitting is worth getting the irons for. They have a finish that means that they do not show every scratch and dig that you get on chrome finish clubs.
No have not tried them yet but been on the website and seen them busting a gum ball machine and I now want to try them when they arrive in the UK.
Can you tell me what there like when you have hit them?
I love the look of the packaging and the fact that they are called juice just makes them even more appealing.
Need a new bag as my faithful wilson has given up on me.
Can any one recommend a good stand bag that will last for years? I like the look of the ping hoofer or craz e lite bags or the titleist bags?
Only got bout £70 to spend but could strech it if the bag is worth it.
Is the new ogio schling bag any good and worth the £130 price tag?
Hey everybody, signed up last night. The names is Popey.
Just introducing myself. Im a 13 handicap from Hertfordshire, UK. Should be off lower but to inconsistent. I've been playing 2 years after being inspired by the great european ryder cup win.
