  1. So I've come to the point where I'm about tired of the Cleveland XLS HiBore Hybrid that I got free when I for some reason purchased the XLS Driver (worst club I've have ever had) and I'm in the market for a new hybrid. Here's what I'm looking for. Something with very little, if not any offset at all. My XLS is offset and I believe it to be the cause of my hook tendency off the tee with the club. Something that comes with a decent shaft option. The Fujikura is a decent shaft but not great. Something that flights the ball a little lower with a 17-18 degree face. Something affordable, preferably in the 100-130$ range. I've hit the Titliest 909H series and am not a huge fan of the feel or how difficult they are to hit. I've also hit the Baffler series hybrids which I liked but did not love as well as the Taylor Made Burner series hybrids which were absolutely miserable clubs. Here's the problem, I hit the Cleveland Launcher hybrid and liked it quite a bit. Talk me out of another Cleveland....please...
  2. I would agree with MSD there that this second drop area is in all likelihood put in place to help with pace-of-play issues. In which case I am all for it. Lord knows we've all been behind the group who puts 4 in the water and then re-tees and doubles up on their lost balls. Now I must HI-JACK this thread with a par three question of my own. So I was playing a stroke play tourny yesterday and it was a shorter par 3 around 160 yards. It was raining and a little windy so I wanted to flight the ball low and therefore, did not tee it up. I placed the ball on the deck, and what I'd typically do in this situation is move the ball around with my club until I have it properly primped and propped up. It occurred to me that this may not be legal, so I did it by hand instead. I asked my group, and no one knew the answer. SO, is it or is it not allowed during a tournament to use your club to adjust the ball while it's on the tee box before you are addressing it and ready to make your swing?
  3. Titleist should be paying you, you are an on course and online free advertisement. In fact, I have my suspicions that they are...
  4. Personal preference my man. I've tee'd off sans range many a time and posted a decent score but when it's available I do like to hit a few balls before the round. I prefer to start with a mid iron, either 8,7,6 depending on the length of the course I'm about to play. 8-10 shots with a mid iron, switch to a wedge, find your distances there, just a FEW shots with long irons, basically until I flush one and feel good about them, then hybrid and driver, finishing up with no more than 5 driver swings, it's too easy to get frustrated with the big stick! Don't hit too many! Then putting of course for about 5 minutes, get the speed, that's all you really need.
  5. Played in the Philadelphia Section PGA PAT yesterday, shot 74 76 with a bogey bogey bogey finish, whoops, oh well.
  6. 34 today, only had time for 9, 75 on Monday but a scramblin' 75
  7. Tiger makes birdie at 18 and Jim Nantz drops this line, "And somehow, through all of this, Tiger manages a 69"...... I mean, you have to imagine that that was intentional, as well as hilarious.
  8. No matter what happens today, no matter if Tiger stalks and wins, no matter if Phil holds them all off, even if Westwood finds a way to win today, there is little debate that this has been one of the greatest Masters tournaments in recent history, and arguably of all time after only three rounds. Simply based on the number of players in red figures, playing well and making shots you'd have to argue that this is golf at it's absolute finest. When you look at the current leader board, and think about the play over the last three days you cannot help but feel privileged to have witnessed such an event. And that's the most impressive thing so far about this week. When this week began it was Tiger, Tiger and more Tiger talk. Now, going into Sunday, the event itself has managed to take the headlines and done so in all the right ways. The coverage has still be biased, of course, with a heavy dose of Tiger's every shot including his miserable driving game, but the weight that the other players at the top carry has almost tipped the scale. And even though today will no doubt contain 50% Tiger and 50% the field, in the end this week has done more to heal the image of the PGA Tour, and coincidentally it's most popular player, based on one thing, the game itself. The skill of the PGA tours brand name players, the class and style of the venue, and the beauty of the game of golf have been the essential elements in achieving this aim, and even though some criticized the decision, looking upon it now, you can't help but admit that Tiger's decision to return at Augusta was an absolute masterstroke. No matter what happens today, this week, we've seen golf become everything that it is purported to be, everything that we can hope it will inspire in us will undoubtedly unfold this afternoon, and we will all have been privileged to be associated with the game we all love.
  9. Oh, right, I should have known since your not an ignorant American you'd had have already exhausted your options for viewing. And be coverage I was referring to commentary/camera angles/lack of commercials. In that regard, it is the best.
  10. Dudes, if you wanna peep it all day they are streaming Amen Corner, 15,16 and a featured group all day. Also, for what it's worth, I think Masters coverage is the best coverage in all of sports.
  11. I went to one of the golf mega stores with the intention of buying either a 909D2 or a 909D3 but was willing to experiment beyond those two as I had some time on my hands. I started with the 909 series, the D2 I had hit before and knew that would work for me reasonably well but I was excited to try the D3 to see if I could get more workability. I could, and was interested, but someone had left behind both a G15 and an i15 at the range so I decided to hit them both. The i15 was unimpressive, felt clunky and too hard off the face at impact and tended to spray and I am starting to get the feeling that only the truly good players should be playing these fade biased "gamer" drivers. I don't shoot even par enough to call myself a true gamer but I do it enough to think that I can have an opinion and these clubs require too good a swing for the true amateur. The G15 is a completely different story. This club is absolutely awesome. The feel is nothing like the G10 which almost felt too soft with a face like a trampoline. The ball simply melts off the face of this club on good swings and on halfway decent swings with me it produced a decently high (I fight the low ball off the tee) mini draw. What I really like about the club is that it's finally gotten to the point where you can feel the technology working to help you slow your swing and get the result your looking for without having to swing too hard. You can watch the ball hang in the air with smug satisfaction knowing your carrying it 10-20 yards longer than you used to. I've read some reviews that say "you can't fade the ball with this club" and "the ball tends to just go straight with little workability", false. You can hit a beautiful high fade if you know anything at all about how to produce one, and a draw if that tickles your fancy. I've read reviews that say "the trajectory on this club is too high", false. Get a stiff shaft if your ball flight is too high and you don't want to hit a 9.5 idiots. I'm not the longest hitter and the second time I took this club out I hit 3 drives that were 300+ two of which were over 320, and yes, all were in the fairway. So is this the best driver ever??? I don't know but I know that I like it a hell of a lot. There are a million options out there and while it's good for me I doubt that it would be a very good club for someone with a significantly slower swing speed than my own. Will it cure your tendency to slice the ball or snap hook it towards the end of the season or when your back is sore and you get lazy? Probably not, there is MARKED improvement on off center hits but you can still put an ugly swing on a golf ball and hit a crappy drive, that's the nature of the game people, don't listen to anyone who tells you a club is the end all be all and will fix you right up they've probably sold insurance at some point in their life. I can tell you that if your into feel off the face, a slightly longer shaft and marked improvement in the carry department, check out the G15, and unless your scratch, leave the i15 on the rack.
  12. Ping G15 10.5 Aldilla Serano stiff flex. Vast improvement over my 907D1
