  1. Now that cold weather has arrived... I was wondering how you guys keep up with Golf.... I am in New Jersey, and it got cold (I wonder how cold it is in any upper regions!) and I also gave up to go to the driving range. I got a book by the title of "Be the Ball"... and it is very interesting... Thank God that the Tour has started and Tiger is back in action!
  2. I used to play a Ping G5 but I changed it after I gave a Sasquatch as a present to a friend of mine and he practically blasted! (10-20 yards more than me!) I changed to Sasquatch and I was able to pass my friend's driver by the usual 5-10 yards! I love it, especially on mis-hits.
  3. If long hair and beard was your problem, then I guess Natalie Gulbis' father cannot get in too?!?!!?!?
  4. Well... Tiger is the prime choice... let's see... if he is not the one... I think that Vijay will be a tough competitor.
  5. Curious to hear your opinions....
  6. I think that belly putters must be illegal because they allow you to "anchor" the putter to you, so it gives you a "reminder" or a support that helps you move the putter more steadily and precise.
  7. I opened a new thread regarding the fairness of a disqualification due to incorrect scorecard... and it seems that most of the forum users agree with the fact that if a player does not pay attention to what he/she signs or mark on his/her scorecard, he/she is 100% responsible and needs to pay for any consequence of his/her mistake.
  8. I think JD must hire a new team who can prepare him better in every aspects of the game (marketing, management, mental and physical, etc. etc.) He must understand that he is no longer just a golf player. He is a brand. Thus, he needs to elevate his game to a different level than in the past. Younger and more fierce players are coming in the Tour every year. If he wants to compete against them, he really needs to "upgrade" his game (both physical and mental). Good Luck JD! We love ya!!!!
  9. Even though I am a purist, I think it is good. It definitely gives a particular and original "trait" for that competition. The 16th hole reminds me the Colosseum in Rome as in the movie "Gladiator"...
  10. Yes, I agree with the other previous comments. The issue is not to become a good player or a champion. The issue is how to keep your performance at a certain level. That's why Tiger is outstanding and beyond all other pros' level...
  11. I agree... Earl II Woods....nickname "Puma"
  12. Turlock Kid, I think that the belly putter count as a club in the bag and it can be used when dropping. I have seen Colin Montgomerie (when he shortly used one) dropping a ball, using his belly putter.... maximizing the definition of One club distance!
  13. NM Golf, I am so sorry... I did not know... I am still a rookie! Thanks for the link! p.s. is there a way to see if a topic was already discussed?
  14. You're the man!
  15. Uhm.... looking at the absence of replies... maybe a lot of you guys already play with belly putters?!?!
  16. Listen to this one! One of my friends told me that the issue is not on how much you bet... it's a "manhood" issue, it's pride and competiveness all together! Even if you play for 1 cent, you never want to lose against another golfer! It's the human nature.... I want you to play good, but never better than me!" What's your opinion on this?
  17. Sorry my ignorance.... so, let's suppose an amateur wins a major..... he does not get anything from the 1-million and plus 1st prize???? isn't it like you win the lottery and they tell you, sorry you cannot cash the money because you are a student??!?!?!
  18. 3 Wood .... as a matter of fact, it is an old Orlimar Trimetal Plus with a Fujikura Prototype X shaft.... and I can find any club that can replace it! In addition, my gap wedge 50 degree... whenever I have 100 yards left, it is a guarantee
  19. I was following Tadd Fujikawa and I got curious on this issue.... On CNNSI.com, they say: "Had he been a pro, the finish would have been worth about $56,000." Any suggestions on where the money goes?
  20. Following the sequel of the moment in golf.... this is my funniest: In summer of 1992, I was practising at the driving range of the Olgiata Country Club in Rome, Italy. In Italy, there are not many courses (compared to US or UK) and there are not so many people playing (still compared to US or UK, but I heard that there are more and more people starting...) anyway, I ended up at Olgiata, one of the most prestigious and historically renowned courses in Italy. I was practising from the ground and 50-60 feet away, there was the great Italian golf player and master, Ugo Grappasonni (he used to play in the 50s', playing also with Roberto DeVincenzo and Ben Hogan, winning nationally and internationally;...well.... long story short, he was the predecessor of Costantino Rocca, the Molinari's brothers, and many other Italian players) He was giving a lesson to a new student and from what I recall, master Ugo was working on the pupil's backswing... apparently it was too short and he was trying to make him rotate his shoulders in order to make a longer, full rotated backwing. Master Ugo was keeping saying: "longer, longer.... one long and continuous action... up to the back" Suddenly, I heard this noise...for at least 4-5 seconds! I could not believe in my eyes... well no, ... in my ears! The pupil, during one of his swings, maybe due to the mental concentration and physical effort required, farted!!! It was the longest..... loudest..... high-pitched fart I ever heard!!! You cannot imagine how embarrassing and funny that moment was! and you know, I tried to keep it cool and act as if nothing happened... just not to embarrass the pupil more. Well, I guess that we stayed in silence for few more seconds... after that master Ugo said: "that one, young boy, was pretty darn long!" I could not resist anymore and I cracked! I fell down on the ground and I started laughing and crying... "ha ha ha!"
  21. I am glad that we can laugh at it afterwards... but I swear... it was not pleasant to be at the spot! one guy with the putter, the other one with an iron... swooshes everywhere (I can swear that if they hit each other, they would have done a lot of "damages"!!) I really could not believe what I was seeing! I have never thought golf as a "contact sport"!!! Sometimes, people take Golf too seriously!!!!
  22. any ugly episodes? I have several but the one that I can easily recall is the day that one of my fellow players got into a fight with another player from the foursome behind... It was in 2001 at Harding Park, municipal course of San Francisco, CA. We were standing on the 12th green and after finishing the hole, we were on our way to the tee box of the 13th hole (which is right behind the 12th green, and I really hope they changed the design in the last redevelopment!) A ball almost hit us and the guy who shot did not shout "fore" nor gave any other warnings. One of my playing partners waited for the guy and warned him that he almost got hit by his ball and asked him why he did not yell "fore"... (as an impartial third party watching, I must admit that he asked him very politely) The guy answered very arrogantly that he did not shout "fore" because he knew that the ball was not going to hit him! My playing partner got mad and told him: "wow, you gotta be such as excellent player to know if the ball is going to hit me or not... then how come you did not put it on the green?!? @*! etc. etc. beep!@! *censored**!" The two started to swing clubs at each other (it looked like an old movie of Musketeers and pirates!) and it got very ugly... I guess someone called 911 Well, it ended up that 5 police vehicle intervened with more than 10 policemen at the site. We had to go to the police station to testify the scene... thank God nobody got hurt but it was definetely the ugliest moment in Golf of my life!
  23. Curious to hear your opinion on this one.... I always thought that if you have a "reminder" on the putting grip, it was illegal.... belly putters anchor your bell with the putter and your hands... should we ban them?
  24. For the fans... any opinions on the latest model?
  25. To all soccer fans.... just curious to hear your opinions on this one.... meanwhile, I read a news that Capello, current Real Madrid coach, has declared that "Beckham is no longer going to play an official game for Real Madrid...he is going to train regularly, but will never play anymore...."
