A 4 foot putt for par on the 18th today to win the semifinal of our club champs 1up. The ball did a full lap before deciding to give me the win too! Man I was pretty nervous over that one! Now I gotta wait 6 weeks till the guy can play the final!
-
I tried this for about 2-3 months. It made my ball striking quite a lot better and was a great swing thought. But now I have ditched it. I don't know why but I just started hitting it poorly thinking about the beats. So I stopped thinking about it and now I am back to hitting it quite nicely without thinking about the tempo beats at all. I think it is definately helpful but maybe not for everyone.
-
Well if you are filming yourself and hit 3 balls it takes that long to do pre shot routine for all the shots. Even if I only hit 1 ball it would still be at least 20 seconds once you do setup etc.
-
Hmm wierd. I can do a screenshot of Gspot if you don't believe me. 17000 frames is 71s at 240fps. Since the final video is at 30fps it means the video is actually 9 minutes long (for this specific one) but it is consistent across all the swing videos I have taken. I wonder if the FC150 uses a different compression? The value of 25kb per frame sounds about right for the resolution that 240fps gives. My laptop hard drive is filling up quickly cause I have over 20gb of 30s-1m swings!
-
Yeah I think you know what I mean, the uncompressed avi/raw video file. MJPG to be specific How come your files are so small? I just checked and a 71s video is 440mb taken at 240fps.Not quite the 600mb per minute I said but not far off.
-
Getting a raw file is difficult, they are like 600mb for 1 min give or take. I convert with windows movie maker before I upload to youtube. Here is a video taken at 240fps with my FC150
-
60fps is too slow, I had a JVC that did 60fps and it was pretty bad. I usually only got 3-4 frames from top of backswing to hitting the ball. With my FC150 I have been using 240fps and that is great. I think it is the ideal balance between fps and resolution. It is a bit grainy but not an issue. I will probably end up buying the FH100 to get the shaft blur gone. Its only money afterall!
-
Yeah I think I might get my 52 bent to 51 or 50 first and see how that works out.If I can't bridge the gap I may have to spring for the GW though. I'm being tight cause I was fitted for the NS Pro 970 shafts which are pretty expensive. 4-PW cost me $1600NZD (~$1300USD), so another $250 for 1 club seems excessive when I can get the callaway offerings off Rockbottom for under $100 shipped.
-
Yeah get the FH100, I have an FC150 and am slightly disappointed I can't see the shaft very clearly when I swing. At that price it is a really good deal and not really any downsides vs the FH25 for the usage you are intending.
-
Thats what I am concerned about. I hit my current burner 09 PW about 135-145 and have a big enough gap to GW as it is (hit that about 100-110). I was fitted for the JPX's on Saturday and on the launch monitor I was hitting it consistently 10 yards longer than my burner 6i. If the JPX's are longer still I will have a problem. I only just got some callaway jaws 56 and 60 wedges but maybe I will have to go to 50-54-58 to try and allievate the distance gap. At the moment I really struggle inside 125. I'd rather have 155 so I can hit a full 8i or 9i than be 115!

Mizuno JPX-800 Pros vs. Titleist AP1 710s
k14 replied to brianm423's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well I went and got fit for the JPX800 pro's yesterday. Man I just can't stop thinking about them. I started off with the shaft optimiser which showed a swing speed of 80-82mph and a very smooth tempo. Embarrasingly enough this showed the best fit shaft being graphite! The fitter immediately dismissed a graphite shaft being optimal seeing as I am in my 20's and still improving my swing. So the steel shafts the program recommended were the Dynamic Gold SL R300 and the NS Pro 970. After hitting both for a rather lengthy period I settled on the NS Pro, slightly lighter but also seemed to be easier to hit. I tried a SL S300 but immediately it was pretty hard to hit. Since I like the NS Pro we tried it in 1/2" longer, which again seemed to be quite good. It had the same shaft length as my burner 09 6 iron. I tried the JPX800 Pro with NS Pro 1/2+ shaft vs my burner and the launch monitor was showing the best part of 10-12m longer and it was straighter, I couldn't believe it. The fitter said the launch monitor usually reads ~5m short too. My burner 6i used to go about 155-165 and the monitor was showing 150-160 constantly. With the JPX I was regularly hitting longer than 170m (thats nearly 200 yards!). Next we tested lie angle. I hit on the lie board with the standard JPX800 and it showed I was hitting towards the toe. So I tried the +2 degree and instantly it was a lot easier to not hit the ball fat/thin off the mat. The launch monitor didn't seem to show much improvement though. I tried hitting my burner off the lie board which showed I was hitting towards the toe too, probably 1-2 degrees flat for me. That would explain why my divots always end with a V shape and not a clean 90 degree line. So I pulled the pin and seeing as he offered me a good trade on my old irons I am expecting a 4-PW set of JPX800 pro's in 2 weeks with + 1/2" NS Pro 970 shafts and +2 degree lie angle. I can't wait. In respect to a comparison to the Burners the feel is so different, I know exactly what everyone means about forged clubs now. The burners feel so hollow when you hit them, the JPX are just so solid it is amazing. My only concern now is my gap between PW and 52 degree wedge. I already had an issue with the burners having a 25-30m gap between clubs, if I hit the JPX 5-10m further it may even be more problematic. I may have to adjust my wedges and go to 50-54-58 or I could get my 52 bent to 51 and see how that goes. Will post back when they arrive with my thoughts. -
Nice work! Not quite as good a story as yours but I got new 56 and 60 degree callaway jaws wedges last week. On wednesday I was playing and managed to chip in with my 60 wedge on a par 4 for birdie. Was only I think the third time I had hit the wedge.
-
Yes that well and truely gives us the information. Thanks!
-
Can I ask what will these adjustments gain as far as hitting the ball is concerned? To me it seems like you are trying to have a swing that looks perfect in picture. I am sure you have the big picture all sorted but any chance you could let us know the problems you are having because you aren't doing the aformentioned parts of your swing correctly.
-
I have never used it myself but know of plenty of people who only have good things to say about it. Google it and you should be able to find if they have any problems. There are half a dozen others out there that do the same thing.

Use this site http://www.shipito.com/ and they will buy the goods for you from the US outlet, have them shipped to their base and then ship them to you.
-
I bought this case off ebay for a few bucks and cable tied it to my putter. Seemed to work ok and was very stable. I think maybe I should just leave it alone now, I usually average 31-32 putts a round, had 36 today with a chip in. Only a single 1 putt and three 3 putts. I tried to make my stroke slightly different to make the numbers better but I think that is probably the wrong way to go about things.
-
Well I went out and tested it for about 30 mins on the practice green at my course yesterday, got really erratic scores doing the 5 putt test, anywhere from 7 up to 26. Today I played and had my worst putting round in over 6 months lol. That enough of an opinion for you?

Help with new iron sets! Mizuno, Nike, or Burner?
k14 replied to cobras7's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah I haven't hit either, only thing I have to compare to is my current 09 burners. So I will see how they feel but unless the 800 pro feels absolutely horrible (highly unlikely) I don't see the point going more "players" when I still have a lot to learn as far as swing goes etc. Having a bit of forgiveness is never going to be a miss. I know currently when I hit the occasional one off the toe with my 8i for instance I will still most likely hit the green, I'll just be 10m short of my target. I am not sure the 53 would do that so why make it harder? Let us know what you decide after you hit them. -
Help with new iron sets! Mizuno, Nike, or Burner?
k14 replied to cobras7's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm currently going through the same process. I am being fitted at the Mizuno retailer next weekend. I really like the look of the MP53's but have pretty much settled on the JPX 800 Pros. My reasoning being if PGA pro Charles Howell III can play JPX pro's then why do I need something more difficult to hit? You are a similar handicap to me so I don't see the point going more difficult to hit than the JPX pro's. It is nice for your ego to see you hit them but in reality why make it more difficult than it needs to be. The JPX pro is more than capable of being playable down to scratch. -
Yeah try 160 yard par 3 to 220 yard par 3. Certainly makes it a big difference. I think there is about 300 yards difference at my course but I do tend to shoot pretty much the same score regardless of what tee I play. On the few holes that are longer I am just hitting a 4i instead of 6i or maybe 6i instead of 9i.

Mizuno JPX-800 Pros vs. Titleist AP1 710s
k14 replied to brianm423's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What were your impressions on the difference between the two clubs? I currently am hitting 09 burners too and have a fitting line up at the Mizuno store in 2 weeks. I haven't hit any other irons yet and keep thinking to myself is it really necessary to spend $$ on new irons when my current ones are perfectly adequate. But then I look at photos of them and think I HAVE to have them! -
Yeah cheers. I was looking at a swing from 18 months ago the other day and I couldn't believe how terrible it was. So frustrating though cause I was scoring the same back then as I do now! I need to focus on my short game a bit more I think, since I am spending so much time on my long game my short game has been seriously neglected. Anyway, I got my new Casio FC150 the other day and here are a few swings. At the moment I am trying to get my hips turning a bit better with some flex in left knee. This has pretty much eliminated my back pain. If you look at these videos you can see I pretty much don't move my hips at all and that was causing a heap of strain on my lower back. It would keep me awake at night and at 27 I'm too young to have a stuffed back! This in turn has finally helped me to start swinging in to out semi consistently in my last few rounds. A few too many fats and thins though. Will try and update after this weeks practicing.

Yeah tell me about it. I am somewhat disappointed with the FC150 I just got last week. The shaft blur is a bit of a pain, although I haven't had a sunny day yet (winter sucks) so hopefully when the sun comes out it will improve quality. However I find the camera great in all other aspects. It is easy to use and I have no problems reviewing footage at the range straight away. Here is a video I took the other day. See the shaft start to blur for most of downswing. I think the aspect ratio was changed when I put the slo mo effect in windows movie maker, not sure why. Edit: I keep forgetting to try recording at 120fps, the above video is 240fps. I may get a better view of shaft at 120fps, not really sure??
-
I use that too, you know that you can set a delay so the camera starts recording after a certain time. It beeps a few times before it starts recording and then you swing. Works perfect for when I do it.
