  1. I think he has helped the game of golf. He has brought athleticism to the game and that helps the sport compare to the top sports bringing it more to the mainstream. He has taken golf to a new level we all thought not possible after Jack Nicklaus. Guys have to keep in shape now to compete with Tiger and the beer gut guys have fallen off the radar like Daly. You have to be in top condition and have a great mental approach to the game. This aspect has helped the game imo. His demeanor and fervor have uplifted the game in the way of Palmer and Nicklaus. Have you noticed how many people are at the range and golf course when you go? This overcrowding all started with Tiger, everyone wants to be Tiger. Tigers popularity has contributed to a lot of golf courses being built across the country. We have about ten new courses in my area since Tiger. You see all kinds of kids golfing now which I think is soley attributed to Tiger and is great for the game. Not to mention what he has done for minorities, which is ten times greater than the reasons I mentioned above.
  2. As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread I keep my sanity in the winter by reading golf books. I'm currently reading "Two Years in St. Andrews" by George Peper which I absolutely love and hope it never ends and I wanted to share with you winter golfers an excerpt from the chapter I was reading today.. "Indeed, to walk a brisk 18 holes in winter with three good friends, the wind lashing at your cheeks, the turf crunching beneath your feet, is to know a noble sort of joy." Makes me miss my old golf pals of my pre-married days, we used to golf all winter no matter the conditions. The beer was always cold in our golf bags!
  3. I don't know how, but I moved up to 3rd despite only having two players make the cut.
  4. He has filed for divorce from #4 see the link http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2652787
  5. I think having a family will affect Tigers performance a little. Everyone who has kids knows how draining and stressful it can be at times. Having a healthy baby would help him to continue on the pace he is now. A baby with problems could change things greatly. How his wife handles having a baby will have an effect on his life. My wife used to freak out if our son was sick and I always had to rush home to help or stay up late at night to help her. Having a lot of money will help. He has pleanty of resourses to have his family with him on the road and all the support they need.
  6. I think he had a serious brain fart Sunday on the 17th. Why in the hell would you pull out a driver and try to drive the green when if you missed there was trouble everywhere, and with a one shot lead. He should have hit a three iron and a wedge took his par and headed to the 18th with that one shot lead.
  7. What a great weekend to recover from a Vasectomy. I watched the Dubuai this morning and plan on watching the FBR and then the Superbowl. Can't play golf anyway, it's 5* here with wind chills -10 to -20* besides my nuts hurt too bad to play golf! The DVR is a wonderful thing!
  8. All the Legends courses are first class! Loved the Links style course. Also, if your taking the family, the putt putt courses are the best in the world! Take the wife to Barefoot Landings (shopping) you'll thank me for this advice later!
  9. well fellas, I'm recovering from a vasectomy this weekend and it was a pretty bad experience if I must say. I've been in a great deal of pain the first two days so right now I would vote for GOLF! I've been on the couch since Friday watching the Golf Channel on demand, a lot of Golf with Style - Stina Sternberg, and as hot as she is I have no intrest in sex after having the Doc kick me in the crotch a few times. Any of you guys have a vasectomy? Were you in pain? All the guys I work with said it was a breeze. I would not have went through with it if I'd known it hurt so much!
  10. Hey guys, this poll is just for FUN. I love JD and wish him well, just poking a little fun at the big guy. Don't be afraid to vote!
  11. Golf? Do people really golf this time of year??? Todays forecast for southwestern Ohio is High of 13* low of 4* with high winds making the wind chill -10 to -20* I think I'll just watch it on tv thank you.
  12. John Daly missed the cut at the FBR . He shot a 1 over par 72 in round one that included 1 eagle, 2 birdies, 3 bogeys and a double bogey. In round two he shot par 71 with 6 birdies and 6 bogeys. He's only made one cut out of three tournaments this year.
  13. You can't go wrong in Myrtle, it's the golf capitol. My favorite is the Legands! http://www.legendsgolf.com/ I'm thinking of a trip to Myrtle this year too. Thanks for starting this thread, it will help me out too. I've been to Myrtle 20 times since I was a kid but only had the chance to golf on 4-5 trips. I've always stayed in the southern part but I hear the north is much nicer and closer to all the restuarants and attractions. I haven't been in 8 yrs so I'm sure it has changed a lot. Let me know how your trip goes.
  14. I think after a few more weeks you won't even remember Snedeker. The cream will rise to the top. Look for Furyk, Phil, Vijay,Goosen and Els to continue to push Tiger. All of them will fail except for Furyk.

    Go Colts!

My money is on the Bears so the Colts will win! I want to see Manning / Dungy get a ring. I pridicted NE vs No so bank on the Colts winning! I just want to see a great game. Both coaches are total class and I hate to see either team lose.
  16. Team Hogan Fan won the Bob Hope and came in second at the Buick! That puts me in fourth overall! Are you guys feeling the heat?
  17. Come on Big John!
  18. I'm a fan of John Daly. I can't help but pull for the guy. I just wish he would take his profession a little more seriously and put in the time on the range to find himself again. Please post your thoughts on Big John fan or not and lets see if we can pull him out of this slump! The tour needs guys like Daly! The 95 British win was awesome! Last year was not a good year for BIG John.... Daly stats for 2006 Events - 21 Cuts made - 8 Top tens - 0 Money list 193 Drive Dist - 307.1 - 5th Accuracy - 52.48 - 190th GIR - 60.88 - 184th Putt Avg - 1.79 - 129th Money - $192,134 Also earned $80,000 Merrill Lynch Shootout, $25,000 Skins Game, $170,000 Target World Challenge bringing total to $467,134 He is playing this season on a minor medical extension from an injured finger. Finished 28th at the Sony this year and missed the cut this week by 3 strokes after an opening 69. So far this year he has shot rounds of 69,68,71,68-69,75 Come on Big John! Get it together
  19. ipark, Fantasy golf is quite simple and makes watching the tournament so much more exciting. I play ESPN's Best Ball Challenge and PGAtour's Salary Cap game. I like ESPN's the best, here is the link if you want to join us. The first segment has already began but you could still join and learn to play, there are three more segments. http://games.espn.go.com/bestball/frontpage Our group name is "The Sandtrap Club" and the password to join the group is "forum" Hope you'll join us!
  20. [QUOTE][I'll be watching Charlie Hoffman last weeks winner because he's from San Diego and he's hot right now. /QUOTE] I'll bet you ole Charlie either dosen't play or make the cut. When these guys get their hands on a big wad of cash like that for the first time, they are too busy partying and spending money and always suck in the next event.
  21. I had to shut it down after Christmas, just too cold to do anything. I won't start to go to the range again until end of Feburary. The way I deal with it is reading about golf, currently reading "2 years in St. Andrews" by George Peper. Also checking out all the golf web sites and reading the Sandtrap every day. I have my putter in the family room and will hit about 50 putts a day. I re-grip my clubs every winter and check out E-bay for golf artifacts to add to my golf theme in my den. I just bought a Ben Hogan neon sign for $0.01 I was the only bidder, shipping from Hong Kong was $32. Yes, thank God the tour has started and Fantasy golf. That will keep me sane until the weather breaks!
  22. I went to the Memorial Tournament 2 yrs ago and you were not allowed to bring cell phones (this is catching on everywhere) but something I thought was stupid was you could only have a folding chair without arms and could not bring the sleeve that it stores in, it had to be out in the open. It's kinda hard to carry those chairs around without the sleeve. Most people have the kind with the arms and cupholders. I have since purchased 2 golf tournament seats that are just a cane with a flip up seat on the top. Easy to transport but it looks as though your sitting with a stick up your butt.
  23. I second that opinion. It's good here but it can't spread or it must be stopped. You would be removed so fast from Augusta and they would probably assign an AIO (Augusta Intelligence Officer) lol to follow you and make sure you don't get in again! They ask for your SS# when applying for tickets to the Masters so they can do a background check on you.
  24. Hoffman was solid last year and cheap to buy on ESPN BB challenge. I used him a lot! He needs a haircut though. Do you think the PGA will let him wear his hair that long? Team Hogan Fan is coming on strong!
  25. OMG another Hogan Fan! Welcome aboard, always room for someone who likes Ben Hogan! I purchased my Memorial tickets from their site. It looks like I got a great deal from the responses here. I can't wait to go!
