  1. Currently, I have very passive wrist. I just relax both right and left wrist and swing. Whatever they do, hinging/unhinging is the result of force from other body parts that's driving my clubhead. Then I heard that keeping 90 degrees at your wrist and forearm is ideal during downswing until your arm reaches your hip to generate speed at impact. This guy is talking about the concept . Now with the completely relaxed wrists that I have, I'm not retaining this 90 degree angle. In order for you to do what this guy is talking about, you can't have passive wrists can you? Your wrist must active roll/snap/break in order to generate that movement? Thanks in advance.
  2. First, sorry to hijack the thread. It sounds like you are doing exactly what I'm trying to do with my woods. I want to take a shallow divot or leave a burn mark on the grass. Do you swing up and down (to a lesser degree than irons of course) or do you sweep like driver but contact the turf?

  4. "Uniflex: Varying flex to fit most swing speeds." ...is what I got from ebay. So is uniflex a good flex to have for most amateurs? Any help is appreciated.
  5. You are probably swinging the club around your body instead of up and down. As soon as you start swinging it up and down that lateral movement should disappear, and you should immediately feel the sense of torso and shoulder coiling. If that doesn't help, try swinging with feet close together. At this position you HAVE to swing up and down in order to keep your balance with 3/4 swing.

  8. Hello, I live in Nova also, and I think current weather is great for someone new or someone coming back to the game. Not too cold for you, but not warm enough to bring out every golfer in the region to the field. I played 3 times this month. Have fun.
  9. It's straight during backswing, it's straight on the downswing but during the finish where BOTH of my arms should be straight, I bend at my elbows for my driver.
  10. I realized today that in order for me cure my slices with FW and driver I need to have a stronger grip. Is this the correct way of swinging FW and the driver or am I simply compensating for a swing flaw somewhere I'm not seeing? FYI, One thing I don't do with a driver is extending out both my arms on middle of upswing (where the club is somewhat parallel to the ground). Would fixing this help me shoot straight without overly strong grip?
  11. It's loud but dull. I definitely wouldn't say it's a sharp penetrating sound.
  12. When you do this with your med/short iron does it break the tee everytime? I can't imagine it staying in one piece if you do not modify your swing at all and swing down on it the same way you would if the ball was on turf.
  13. I need some help from veterans, when teeing off with an iron how high do you have it set up? My setup is, maybe 1/8 inch (maybe less) above the ground and I address it. Another question comes to my mind once I addressed it. Do I hit it on the downswing like I normally would, do I sweep it or hit it on a upswing like I would my driver? Thanks in advance.
  14. I have a TM R580XD and the best I can describe the sound is, hitting a softball with a softball bat. It's a dull sounding, low pitch "crack", I tried my friend's Callaway Big Bertha driver this weekend and it made a "ting" sound such that you described. Few hits actually hurt my left ear (I'm a righty), it felt like someone stabbed it.
  15. From the side view, if you were to do 3/4 swing would the triangle that's formed by your arms be near your shoulder instead of clearing your upper back? I do full swing but my head moves forward and down (I bend foward more during last stage of backswing). Is this a classic indication that I'm not flexible enough for full swing or is there a problem else where?
  16. I have been using "in fingers" golf grip ( http://golf.about.com/od/golftips/ss...ip_lead_3.htm) , in Five Lessons by Hogan says to grip it in the palm and across index finger. Which method do you use? Any downside to one of these grips vs the other? I will try the grip that Hogan suggested the next time out and report back.
  17. I have not used a product called "one or two plane swing". What I meant was I recognize that I had one plane swing that fit my body but through practice I was trying to force my body to do a two plane swing, because I thought one plane swing was an incorrect way of swinging.

I just looked up one and two plane swing ( http://www.golfdigest.com/instructio...ingplane2.html ) and I realized that I am naturally inclined toward 1 plane swing, but I've been practicing 2 plane swing. I've been having more problems since I attempted to switch to 2 plane swing. I'm going back to one plane swing, since now I know it's not wrong. This swing feels better and smoother for me to execute.
  19. Thanks for the replies. I know what you mean about how thinking can mess up the swing. I will try the fraction of second freeze at the top of the backswing. I can picture how this can help.
  20. I just got into Golf, took 2 lessons so far, and I'm loving it. I'm at a point where I'm working on increasing the distance by shifting the weight from my right to left on my downswing. Which means outside of right foot need to be off of the ground before impact, I cannot seem to do this. I initiate my downswing with the turn of the shoulders and waist. My friend suggested I initiate my downswing with the turn of the hips and have my shoulders follow soon after. Swinging w/o a club, I can see how this can aid in bringing the outside of my right foot off of the ground before impact. The kicker is, it feels like my right foot is simply following my hips instead of driving the downswing. How are you suppose to initiate the downswing?
