  1. it means that you can't use them in professional tournaments starting this year, you cant use them in any tournaments starting 2014, but up until 2024 you can post a scorecard for a USGA handicap index using the clubs but after 2024 it would be deemed illegal to do so
  2. I would also like to know the answer to that...however I don't know if this matters/pertains to you but according to Mizunos website... * The MX-100 irons are USGA and R&A; conforming through 2024. * Beginning January 1, 2010, the MX-100 irons are non-conforming for professional tournaments with the Condition of Competition. * Beginning January 1, 2014, the MX-100 irons are non-conforming for elite amateur tournaments with the Condition of Competition.
  3. I do not really know much about AP1's and titleist fitting but i might be able to help you out...as far as quality of Titleist clubs, they are excellent. I have a set of Titleist DCI 990s that my Grampa bought me when i first started playing...They are now about 8 years old and i still love them, they are in great shape and have held up nicely. I even still have the original grips on them which are still pretty good and i even went on a run where i would play 6-9 full rounds a week in the summer time for about 3 seasons... As far as fitting goes...it will be extremely important to your game as you probably have a "unique" stature...the thing is that you got fitted for Ping clubs and as far as i have heard, no one fits better than ping and seeing as fitting is a crucial part to your specific game i might advise you stick with a company that can fit you well...I am also interested in the AP1's mainly because i love titleist and there products but i have a fairly average stature that requires +1* upright and i will not see too much difference from my stock 990s...But if i had a more "unique" stature i would strongly consider a brand like ping who i know will fit me the best I would find a titleist fitter though, try out the AP1's with your specs, and compare and contrast to whatever else you might like and see what works i hope this helped somewhat
  4. Hey everyone I found this thread very interesting and i can relate I am a college student and i really want to reclub every club in the bag but and i could afford a new set of name brands which include taylormade adams titleist and odyssey and they are truly what i really want, but at nearly a value of $1700 it seems a little steep for me. I have the money but the way i look at it is that i can get a whole set of gigagolf clubs for $600 and then i will have some spare change and then i can actually play the game...I mean isnt that the point...to play the game and get better at the game, not what you are carrying around..also i can invest in some lessons... Now one solution that many people offer here are to buy used clubs, Now me myself, do not like to buy used things..I like them new and shiny and also with a brand like gigagolf customization is..also when you buy used clubs its not like you can return them... with gigagolf i can buy one club maybe 2 or 3 irons all from different iron sets and for $25 bucks a club i can try them all and return the ones i don't like and then complete the set that i do like...you cant do that with used clubs or many major brands i feel... trust me i am also a name brand guy and i love oakleys and i want to own a Lamborghini some day not a Lamborghini kit car... but golf is more about enjoying the game not the clubs you have in the bag and when i am hopefully making some bank in the future and have gotten to below a 5 handicap and am comfortable with my swing, i can wake up on a Sunday, grab my nice and shiny $2000 clubs put them in the no existent trunk of my Lamborghini and head to the country club...but until then, I will wake up on a sunday, probably hungover, grab my clones and hop on the bus for an hour journey to the executive golf course which cost $24 dollars for a round where i will loose balls and shoot bogey golf...and that sounds wonderful to me too because at least i am playing the game
  5. thanks again everyone for your input... from this i have deffinatley decided to go with a new bag completely made of gigagolf clubs mainly because i have heard nothing bad about them and i can save over a thousand dollars and i simply wont see any benefit from buying top of the line stuff i have a couple questions now, the closest custom fitting pro to me fits for cobra clubs...should i visit him and get fit technically for cobra and take the information from him and apply it to the gigagolf clubs when i customize online..the pros of this i think will be i can show him some options of things that i am buying i can ask him about shafts which is one of my concerns and i can see what he thinks overall...also i feel like this might be a waste of time and money because gigagolf has a pretty good customization wizard with many helpful ways to get the equipment for my specific needs what i think might be the best bet is fit the clubs to myself using gigagolfs help then bring those clubs to a pro and he can tell me if anything should be changed...gigagolf has a 30 day play guarantee so i could return them and get what is needed if need be
  6. shades, good thing you pointed it out, "a lot" might be an exageration but i would say that in a round i am good for at least 10 girs....I am solid on the par 3s and as long as i dont hit my drive in the woods or in a hazard i can handle the other holes, if i do miss the green it is usually left only by a little and rarley short..as far as the comment to why not just keep my irons, i feel that some newer technology has come out that i can benefit from and maybe i do want to get away from the blade by a little bit and i also want to get fit..after going to Dicks and my local course i found some clubs that i think i might like. as for Woods and a hybrid i think im pretty sold on the Callaway Diablo edge series and after reading reviews and others input on them i think they will be a great addition...as for Irons i think i am between the Callaway Diablo forged which i havent seen for myself just online..also at my local course they had a set of Mizuno MP-52s which i really liked...as far as wedges i think im just going to go with titleist BV 48 52 56 60 and putter odyssey 2 ball blade putter...i might also look into ping clubs
  7. Hows it going everyone, I am new to the forums and i deffinatley think that some of you can help me out or at least any comment would be appreciated.. also i am sorry for writing this book i just felt like i needed to explain myself fully and any help is much appreciated so like the title sais i am a bogey golfer and i am 21 years old, i am graduating next year from college and want to pursue a career somewhere in the golf world primarlily course design (virtual, i.e. Tiger Woods games and real), its kind of tough to explain my career path and how i view it ,but the point being is that I want to be a better golfer, primarily a scratch golfer but i would settle for 5 and i think i deffinatley have the potential to get there.. I want to re-club my entire bag and what i have now is... KZG Gemini 460 10.5 S-flex Taylormade Burner 5 wood R-flex bubble shaft Titleist DCI 990 CB 4-pw R-flex Never compromise putter kind of a wierd set and its not even full, here is the main problems i am having, i think some of you might say that my largest problem is that i am hitting an iron that i am just not skilled for but the thing is my grandfather got these for me when i was 13 and they are what i learned on, I like blades, i like the look the size and the feel, i dont really like offset clubs or ones that are big and bulky.. i like them slim and "light"..also these are the best clubs in my bag that i hit and i hit them straight with a slight fade and i hit a lot of greens and i am very confident from 185 (4 iron) and in... my problems with my scoring come from off the tee with errant slices and a lot of 3 putts.. my chipping is good but i use a pw for all my shots around the green so i think that could deffinatley improve with more of a variety of wedges so here is what i think i want..I am kind of looking for a set that would include A 9.0 degree driver, a 3 & 5 wood, 3-hybrid, 4-9 (preferably forged CBs, but hey maybe i am wrong and i should try something else) wedges 48 56 and 60..i am also thinking of swapping the 5 wood for a gap wedge and a putter..i have no idea about a putter i was think the odyssey 2 ball blade.... i am not partial to any brand i just want a product that will help me out and as far as a price limit i would like to spend less then 1500 but i will do whatever it takes if need be also i was looking into something like clone golf clubs from gigagolf do any of you reccomend these? thanks
  8. there both obviously great but i think if tiger keeps playing as he is he will surpass jack
  9. i havent played in a couple weeks since my first time out but the last time i played i pared the first three holes in row which was a first for me
  10. Hows it going everyone, Im a student in college studying game art and when i graduate i would like to work for ea designing courses for the tiger woods franchise ~SKV
