I read an article from Dave Peltz and in it he suggested many golfers would benefit by reversing your putting grip for putts within 10 to 12 feet or less. I figured I'd give a try......AMAZING!!! I thought it would take a while to get the "feel" of this, but on the practice green before a round I had it down in 10 minutes. His reasoning is that it keeps the "triangle" more true and it is harder to "push" or "pull" a putt this way. For me it worked like a dream! Anything longer than 12 feet I still use my regular grip, but his "Left-Hand-Low" Putting Grip has definately made me a believer after just two rounds!!!

Popey, If you get a chance I would highly recommend the Nike CPR hybrids. I carry 4 of them now and love them! I think the biggest difference in these hybrids are the shafts are noticably shorter and they are meant to be swung like irons.

Stickboy, Just curious if you got a chance to use your new toy and how it worked for you? -
I got one of these for X-Mas. Yeah, it looks like I'm putting with a shovel , but I do recommend it. The alignment is amazing, since your ball actually makes it a "4-Ball" putter! Perhaps one word of "caution" I might share with my brothers here.... ....the flange on the 3-Ball is obviously very deep. I normaly use a 35" putter, but I found the trailing edge of the putter would touch the green on my follow thru. I ended up with a 33" SRT and love it. Now I can acurately line-up putts WITHOUT taking a "divot" on the green!!

Stan, If you decide to go with the R7 460, I would recommend getting the "Regular" one instaed of the "Draw" model. You can change the weights and set it up for a draw, but later if your swing changes you can set it up for "Nuetral". If you buy the "Draw" model and your swing changes you are stuck!

As bizzare as this sounds, I went from a 16 to a 9 handicap JUST with the help of hybrids. Believe it ot not, the LONGEST iron I have in my bag is a 7. I have a driver, then Nike Hybrids in 18*, 22*, 26*, and 30* degree lofts. The Nike's get the ball up and land so softly I can actually spin a ball BACKWARDS when hitting an approach shot! Like I said, it sounds bizzare, but it DEFINATELY worked for me!!!

Ty, I only chose the SG3 because I was buying one for the first time. Although the "Target" screens are a lot more detailed, I don't know if I would trade up if I was in your spot? The SG2 is a GREAT unit...I only ended up buying a SkyCaddie because I was so impressed when I played with guys who were using the SG2. -

I played yesterday with a guy who just got a laser range finder and we kept comparing readings all day, my SG3 and his Bushnell. The results?.......Same distance readings from both units! -

That's definately true, but the thing I learned from the Ping guys is that there is a line you can cross where increase in ball flight will limit ball roll. That's where the fitting process comes in to play. It finds the optimum arc that also provides the optimum roll. -

Trust me my friend, if I could tell distance on my own I would love it...but I can't. Anyway, since I play because I enjoy the game, I'll always take advantage of golfing technology, be it clubs, balls, or whatever. I'm sure I'm like most who love the game....I hold the line on anything that isn't legal. I won't cheat the game and I won't cheat myself. For the purists who don't want to use range finders, I take my hat off to them and hope all their shots find the green. Kinda reminds me about Ted Nugent the rock guitarist....he is a VERY avid hunter who enjoys hunting Grizzly Bear....with a bow & arrow! While I admire his style, if I'm tracking down a Grizzly I'm going to use Laser-Guided Smart-Bombs! -

Hey Mav, One thing I forgot to mention..... At courses like Old Ranch and Straberry Farms the driving range distances are yellow, blue, red, green (and other colors) poles. They usually have a board that tells you what pole is how far, right? The problen is that many driving ranges can be as much as 20 to 50 yards off depending on where the tees are that day, right? The great thing with your SkyCaddie is this.....when you turn it on and select the course you are playing it will come up with a screen with numbers 1 thru 18 and a "D". The numbers represent the holes on the course, so if you start on hole #1 press that number and you are off. If you teed-off on the back nine, you would press on #10. Hell, even if you SNEAK on the course and start on the third hole just press the #3 , then the rest of the holes follow in order as you go on automatically. Anyway, back to the driving range....simply choose the "D" and it will give you the color of each pole and the exact distance to it! Take a few steps back or forward and you will see the distances change for each color pole! Pretty cool, eh? -

I agree that OUTDOOR fitting on a range is the best. This way you see the COMPLTET flight of the ball. Like I mentioned before, go to Ping, Taylor Made, etc. web-sites and check when they will be at a course near you. The Ping guys were GREAT and there was absolutely NO PRESSURE to buy anything from them! -

I got a pack of brush tees for X-Mas. I would have never thought of buying them, but now I love 'em! Played on X-Mas day and was surprised how nice they were. Came in a pack of 3, and I don't really think there is a way to break them? -

Hello Mav, I normally connect the cable then power on. As for the case? Nope you will NOT lose the signal. At RedHawk they have some holes that you drive thru a tunnel under the road to get to the other side and STILL no loss of signal. I'm sure if I stayed in the tunnel long enough it would lose signal, but it's not as "touchy" as you might think. I mean I've even sat in the clubhouse having a bite to eat after 9 holes and still NO loss of signal. As far as the warranty? Yup, I got it. I figured the $19 bucks for a years extra coverage wasn't a bad deal, so I signed up. Once again....get yourself that "Temp Cart Mount Bracket" kit...it's great!!! -

Hello Mav........ Come to think of it, I didn't even remember to see if I could add existing points to what was there allready? Also, the "IntelliGreen" rotating feature only works with 4-Star courses....strange that RedHawk would be one of the few 2-star courses in So. Calif, eh? Even so, it was great, and the guys who play that course all the time really saw the benefits too. As far as a belt clip, look on the web-site, they will be offering a custom case in a couple of weeks. Since I got mine a month ago there were no cases made, so I stopped by Best Buy and paid $9 for a small camera case with a belt loop on it. I just took a pair of scissors and cut off the folding flap...PRESTO!! A perfect carring case!!! I would HIGHLY recommend getting the Temporary Cart Mounting Bracket! It makes things soo sweet! When I'm done I just fold it up and keep it in my bag! If I get to a hole that is "cart-path-only" I simply put it in my pocket and walk to my ball, they snap it back in the bracket when I get back to the cart. -

Well, I played RedHawk on Sunday and the SG3 worked just fine! Since it was a "2 Star" course I didn't know what to expect. It gave me the readings to the center of the greens, not the front-center-back readings and lay-up yardages that the "4 Star" courses do. I joined up with two guys that live there and play there all the time and they LOVED it. By the second hole I had to drive up to each of their shots every time and call out the yardage! On X-Mas day I played another course in Temecula called Cross Creek. Wow, a really great course to visit if you ever get a chance. Built in a canyon just outside of Temecula it is soo isolated and quiet it was like being on another planet! I downloaded the course in the morning using my son's PC and Cross Creek is a "4 Star" course so it had all the usual good stuff on the SG3. It really helped since the threesome I joined up with were from out of town and had never been there before either. I don't think there has been one time I've played where someone in the group wasn't going to go and buy a SkyCaddie right away! -

Mav, Thanks for the intel....looks like this is a perfect test for this unit. ...by the way, how was Redhawk? Do you recommend it, or perhaps some other course in Temecula? My son lives there and we are spending X-mas there...gotta get in some golf!!! -

This Sunday I'm playing a course called "Red Hawk" in Temecula (near San Diego). It's the first time I will have played a "2 star" SkyCaddie course, so I'll give you all an update on how it goes. According to SkyGolf the main difference is that I won't have lay-up info on bunkers and water hazards, and I may only get "center of green" yardages instead of front, center, and rear like normal. I've never played there before, but a friend of mine says they only have blue, white and red stakes on the sides of the fairways for 200, 150, and 100 yard markers, so even if I only get the "center of green" measurements I'll still be WAY ahead....since I will get the correct center yardage from WHERE EVER I am STANDING! ......then again, I still have to hit the green, right? ha ha!!! -

Wood, You can go to their website www.skygolf.com and look up all the courses they have in their system. You DO NOT have to have a SkyCaddie or even an account with them to do this. It's real easy, so this way you can check all your local courses and see if they are there (I'll bet they are). Let me know how it goes? -

Mav, I simply took the "Birdie" plan that gives you all the courses in your state. Your SkyCaddie will hold ten at a time, but i didn't feel the need to get more "folders" to store more courses in because to delete and add a course on your unit take about a minute on the computer. If I'm going to play a course that's not one of my favorite "local 10" I just drop one and add the new one. You can do this as often as you want and there's no charge aside from your original "Birdie Plan". I'm in So. Calif, so if I was going on a trip up to the San Francisco area all I would do is take the USB cable with me (the one that connects your SkyCaddie to your PC) and simply download any course I choose to play up there. Since you will have a log-on to SkyCaddie's website you can access it from any computer at any time. If you ever see a guy at Kinko's downloading golf courses to a little gadget stop and say hi.....it's probably me!!!
