  1. Cypress Point is pretty hard to get on. It used to be part of the Bing Crosby (AT&T;) rota, but got replaced by Poppy Hills because of its membership practices. I went horseback riding (my wife's idea!) out of the Pebble Beach stables and we went through the Del Monte forest and came out on Cypress Point. We rode across a couple holes to get to the beach. That area has to be the most beautiful place on earth. Congrats on playing one of the best!
  2. Go to pgawest.com. It has the layout, a couple of pictures and the scorecard. Laquintaresort.com also has a pic and scorecard. Expect lots of water and sand and forced carries.
  3. Neither actually. I have a marketing job that involves going to a lot of conventions and they are invariably in nice places and there's always time for golf. Sometimes my company even picks it up - but not as often as I'd like.
  4. I'm encountering a problem posting. I log on and the box at the bottom indicates I'm good to go re: positing, etc. But then when I post a reply I get a screen that says I can't do that and it requires me to log in again. then the posting is made. Any advice on this?
  5. Well, maybe I can revive this thread... Most scenic courses I've played: Princeville (Kauai) Silvertip (Banff) Spanish Bay (Carmel) Kiawah Ocean Course (SC) Plantation course (Maui) Best lowcountry courses: Harbourtown (Hilton Head) Tidewater (Myrtle) Caledonia (Pawleys Is) True Blue (") Heritage (") Best Mountain courses: Cascades (VA) Shanty Creek- Palmer course (MI) Broadmoor - east course (CO) Hardest courses (for me!): Royal New Kent (VA) Cascades (VA) The Judge (Montgomery, AL) Oak Tree (OK) Best desert courses: Greyhawk TPC stadium course (Scottsdale) Stadium course (La Quinta) Entrada at Snow Canyon (UT) Gotta play Bandon and pacific Dunes and the courses at Kohler!
  6. That's (if I remember correctly) #6 at Torrey Pines' North course. It's very distracting to play, as you have hang gliders going by and La Jolla is in the distance - very scenic - I think it's their signature hole. Kinda pricey to play (for a non-resident) but certainly worth doing once if you're in San Diego.
  7. Sounds like a plan.
  8. Lots of good advice here. I have the same problem as kiani - I can feel myself pick the club up with my arms after my trunk has stopped turning. I'm left with the feeling that I can't find the top - and I can't as I'm going past. I'll try some of your suggestions.
  9. +1 what Danko said........and who cares what color her eyes are? Are you a woman? Just kidding.

    Putting

Well, you know they say a mind is a terrible thing to get involved a golf swing. I guess that goes for putting too. It's like math tests, your first guess is the best. Since your results usually prove out your chosen line, just trust what you've chosen and don't over think it. A golf psychologist told me to try and create a break between the left brain activity of figuring out the line, etc. and the right brain needing to take over to make the physical swing (putt). He recommended a "cleansing breath" (as it were) to facilitate the shift. Just my $.02.
  11. I was gonna say not much, as I've been shooting blanks for years. But since I see we're talking golf balls, I usually hit NXT Tours or ProV1s.
  12. My wife is convinced she's gay, but being a guy, I'd have to say that given the chance.......
  13. I know this is old, but FWIW, my wife and I have a place at True Blue and get down there about once every 4 - 6 weeks. Let me know when any of you are heading down to the south Strand and if the schedules match up, we'll play True Blue, Caledonia or Tradition 1/2 price.
  14. Newb here. Live most of the time in NoVA but golf mostly on the SC coast. Have been playing now for 45+ years and not tired of it yet, although arthritis does present a challenge. I travel domestically quite a bit and get to play all over the USA, Canada and the Carribean. Glad I found the forum.
