  1. thanks for the comments. Unfortunately one of the guys in our group has been hospitalized for the past 3 months and his therapist has recommended an hourly ball licking and toe sucking routine. We are deeply concerned that he is ingesting beyond the limit of pesticides.... his lips have a green glow to them and his eyes are watering. We have met with the golf course owner and he has begun to charge us for the materials that we are ingesting.... this is adding a significant cost to our round of golf. As many of you have recommended, we will "suck it up" and continue to breath deep as we make our way up the fairway. Best to you
  2. Is it something that should be happening and should we do something about it? Here we are on the tee box of the 13th hole and they are spraying right in front of us
  3. When I visit Traverse City, I play Arcadia Bluffs at least 2 times. It is a challenging course but well worth the experience. Many of the holes follow the lake (which looks like the ocean) and the views are spectacular! There is a senor discount day (Tuesday maybe?) Not to be missed! http://arcadiabluffs.com/
  4. Dear Fourputt Thanks for your reply... you say you don't get the problem... it's that this one mower guy decides that he is going to stop mowing fairway right next to the green rather then continuing to mow away from the green... all he has to do is keep going and he's out of our way; this is the problem-- he isn't being nice as you say. This is the same guy who stays in back of the tee box on other holes with the mower engine on full speed waiting for all 4 players to tee off; if we don't go he won't go
  5. You have hit the problem for me too. I have seen guys get just missed by a line drive from the other fairway and it's really scary. This shot he is asking me to take is my first iron shot of the day on the first hole ... 5 iron from 185 out of the rough.... it's hard enough without having to deal with the giant mower with a guy sitting on the left of the green where I have to come in from... big bunker is on the right side of the green so we have to stay left anyway. The management told me they have to mow so deal with it... looking for a new course to join next season. Why are they mowing the first hole 1/2 hour after the course opens? Shouldn't that be done earlier?
  6. well he's not mowing around the green, he's mowing the fairway... instead of parking the big mower right off the green, we're thinking he should just keep mowing and then we'll hit our approach shots
  7. Hoping for a quick survey of opinion: Do you hit into the green when the mowing crew guy is sitting off the green 10 feet on the first hole of the course? He keeps doing this and waving us on to hit. This is a public course at 7:00am; a half hour after the course has been open.
  8. In an effort to get past these unfortunate incidents, I wrote a letter of apology to the grounds crew with a copy to the owner. I apologized for my behavior on the course and said I hoped I would be welcome in the future; as I have been for the past 6 years. I went to see the pro who shared that the head groundskeeper has had many incidents in the past involving golfers. Apparently he hates golfers for ruining his course. I was told that 12 was the only green he mowed that day.. a revenge mowing just for me. Recently he moved all the ladies tees to the men's area right before a ladies group was to begin because he was mad at someone else on the course who complained... Now I realize nothing is ever going to happen until the owner does something about this guy. Is it too late to get my letter back?
  9. Thanks for your responses ! This is a public course and the time is 7am. The course opens at 6:30. One of the details that makes it frustrating is the front 9 was closed when this happened... we expected all the crew members to be working on the front as that is the the part of the course that is "closed for work" This mowing occurred on the 10th hole and the other day on the 12th hole. Why are they mowing the back holes at 7am when the front is closed?
  10. I recently complained to the course owner and club pro about several incidents of the crew mowing the green and now the crew members are upset... the head crew member told me to "go to another course". Both times the course was closed to play on the front and we were sent off the back; I had hit my approach shot to the green and the ball was on the fringe. The crew came on and mowed.. actually went around my ball. The second incident was the 2 days later... the front was closed and we had to go off the back... this time we were just about to hit our approach shots and the head crew member came flying out after the group ahead of us got off the green and mowed. I feel very uncomfortable that the crew guys are upset with me but am I wrong to be upset about the mowing? thanks
  11. Driver-3 iron-14 foot birdie putt on the no1 rated hole at a tough course playing the first time. More then one shot but my best hole
