  2. Bleh to all this I-understand-the-swing-better-than-you talk in this thread that has little to do with the show... I gave it a shot, watched 3-4 episodes (however many have been shown to date) and deleted my season pass after the last episode. It's a bully pulpit for Rush - he already has one of those and I'm not interested in spending time watching another version. I enjoyed the Barkley season because he's a funny guy (mostly self-deprecating). I didn't enjoy the Romano season as much because I always found Ray Romano a bit irritating. I'm far from a Rush fan but gave this one a go. I'm sure Rush fans are loving the season, but I just can't watch it anymore.
  3. Looks like he plays lefty only with the long clubs. Can't recall which tourney I watched this year, but he drove lefty but played most other shots righty. It didn't seem to help him tremendously...
  4. Refurbished = repainted (stay away) Recycled = used & lost, 3-4 grades of use I don't think any of the used golf ball places box their balls - when I've ordered, they've come in a plastic bag inside a shipping box. I've used Lostgolfballs.com a few times and have been very happy with the quality of balls I received (I typically order the 5A balls). I wasn't ever charged excessive shipping - maybe I caught a deal or something?
  5. I recorded yesterday's coverage and deleted it after about 30 minutes. It's just too painful to watch these guys take 2-3 mins to line up a 4 foot putt. I read Feinstein's Q-School book a while back - I knew the pace of play was slow and they hate to put guys on the clock, but geez... Even with a DVR the play was just too slow to watch.
  6. Agree with the less-commentators-more-mic-conversations. They made a big deal about it at the start and then constantly talked over the players' conversations. The camera work was terrible, though - they couldn't track most of the shots. I really think Tiger pulled his putt on 17, though. There were some fantastic golf shots.
  7. I have Golfshot for the iPhone and used it all the time. I got a range finder (Calloway) and have used the GPS sparingly since, mostly for courses with which I'm unfamiliar since it also gives an overhead satellite photo view - good for blind shots or unseen creeks. Best part of Golfshot is that it's a one-time charge (~$30 iirc) with no subscriptions. Every course I've wanted to play around the Cleveland area has been mapped.
  8. Aside from the cost (a very modest $20), what's tough to use with GHIN? You figure out your ESC score, which you'd have to do anyway, and enter it. If the course isn't on the lookup tables, you just enter it manually.
  9. I have a divot repair tool/brush cleaner that I carry - it's the best thing ever. I need to find a replacement but haven't been very successful. It's like the 'coming soon' model on the link above, but the bristles poke out directly from the top of the repair tool. Along the side is a groove scraper. It's also a pretty good repair tool.
  10. I watched Day 1, but deleted Day 2 from the DVR unwatched. It's just not interesting watching the same 4 guys the entire time. Besides, after a while, I started feeling bad about rooting against Kaymer. :) Seemed like a nice course, though.
  11. When you had several players choosing not to wear the suit at all in driving rain I don't think the story was overblown. The suits were a huge failure. We can discuss WHY they failed, but the fact that they were terrible really isn't up for debate.
  12. I've been looking at premade ones and they're either way too expensive or a 12" wide strip which is 6' long with a cup/return on the end. They also tend to be pretty thin so it doesn't seem like they'd roll true, but be too influenced by the carpet/tile imperfections underneath. I've looked at Dick's, Golf Galaxy, and other sporting-goods type stores. I'd gladly look at any premade ones that people think would be viable.
  13. I've been kicking the idea around for a while and was wondering if I'm considering doing something dumb. I'm not interested in building a raised platform green - just something that will lay on the shag carpeting and be relatively flat on which to putt. Keys are keeping the cost down while still making a putting green that is pretty decent. Mobilty would be nice, but not a must-have. Here's what I was thinking of doing: Taking 3/4" exercise squares ( http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=3970346 ) and essentially making a 4' x 12' runway. I'd then glue down some outdoor turf from Home Depot (I saw it and it's pretty tightly woven and tightly spaced, about 1/4" tall). All in, this would cost about $110 or so. It seems like it would give a pretty solid surface on which to putt (no chipping planned) while being large enough for a few different hole locations. It would also be flexible enough that I could make some contours on the fly pretty easily. Thoughts?
  14. Didn't Phil start playing lefty because he was using a mirror to mimic his dad's swing?
  15. I don't feel any looseness or 'jiggle' when I hit them, if that's what you mean - very solid, feels like a 1-piece head to me. I couldn't tell much of a difference between the Nike and the TM from a ball striking perspective. I was all set to buy a Cleveland w/o hitting anything but a course about 45-mins away had a demo days and I got to hit 4-5 different brands. Glad I did that b/c I hit the Clevelands like crap :). As for whether TM sticks with this or not, dunno, but I got sucked in with the free faceplate deal - figure I have a wedge I can use for 2-3 years w/o it getting too worn out.
