  3. Notes: Woods to use different caddie for the Presidents Cup Aug. 23, 2005 GolfWeb Wire Services AKRON, Ohio -- Tiger Woods has employed only two professional caddies during his nine years on the PGA TOUR. He's about to get his third, but only temporarily. Woods said he will use Billy Foster, the caddie for Darren Clarke, at the Presidents Cup next month. His regular caddie, Steve Williams, is going home to New Zealand because his fiance is expecting their first child. Woods knows the English caddie from having played several rounds in practice and in tournaments with Clarke and Thomas Bjorn, for whom Foster also once worked. "He's good at what he does," Woods said. "I've seen him work with Clarkey over the years, and he's had some success. There were a couple of guys I was considering, but I like his personality. He's very competitive, very feisty, and very similar to Stevie." Foster plays off a 1 handicap. One example of his personality might be the time he caddied for the temperamental Seve Ballesteros. He had Foster put some fruit in the bag before a round, and eventually asked for an apple. Ballesteros inspected the apple and told him, "This is no good." To which Foster replied, "Do you want a caddie or a grocer?" The Presidents Cup, to be played Sept. 22-25 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, is a match play competition between a team from the United States and an International team comprised of players from everywhere but Europe. Clarke has said he will not be playing that week in the Seve Trophy on the European Tour. The only other pro caddie for Woods was Mike "Fluff" Cowan from the start of his career until early 1999. As for Williams? Woods said he was expected to be on the bag at the Deustche Bank Championship next week outside Boston, then return at the start of October for the World Golf Championships-American Express Championship in San Francisco. He said Bryon Bell, his best friend from junior high school, would caddie for him Oct. 20-23 in the FUNAI Classic at the WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort. Bell, who usually works at that tournament, was Woods' caddie when he won the Buick Invitational in 1999.
  4. Played in the monthly stableford playing the par 4 13th and drove a long ball down the fairway actually thought i had drove in the stream wich was lookin well out of range from the tee. anyway was left with a 8 iron to a 2 tiered green and as the round was going ok but nothin great decided to go straight at the pin an stiffed the ball within a foot of the cup looked really decent in the air but wouldnt of been to happy missing the green off the back as it would of damn impossible to make par from there
  5. i do a little bit dont solely train just for golf but do general workouts to keep healthy working in the gym its sort of the rule. but whem im training i always try to relate certain aspects to the game like flexibilty and core stability exercises for balance and posture. cardio is a high priority tho so normally build that into the warm up phase of the program. i dont reccomend bulking upo so much in the program but if iwas just trainnig for golf i'd concentrate on areas such as triceps, forearms, latts, abs and shoulders exercises such deadlift and lunges will be a good workout for all over power and strength
  6. wouldn't count tiger out just yet i feel if he shoot a 63 or less he will be around the top 5 come the end of play today. would like to see lee westwood make a big charge tho on the final day and challenge
  7. i have a similar dillema i cyurrently have the 2 ball putter an was lookin to change but recently been putting great so i might listen to paco and also get the red x2 that way i can change from time to time wen i feel the putter needs a cghange of for certain courses
  8. Had A Weird Round Today Just Got The Day Off Work And Played With A Mate On Our Local, Couldn't Off Started Off Much With A Bouble At The First Then Bogeying The Following 3 Holes +5 Thru 4 Bad Start, Was Mainly The Putting Letting Me Down Finding Fairways And Greeens Ok, Few Missed In Regulation Paid The Price For The Those Just Coming To The End Of The Front 9 And On The 8th Hit A Birdie On The Par 5 And Miss A Birdie Put On 9 From 7 Foot. Things Look A Little Brighter Or So I Think. Hit A Double On Par 3 10th After Finding Trouble Off The Tee. Anyway Just Aboout Salavage Around With Back To Back Birdies On 16 And 17 And Par On 18 For A Round 77 +5 Had About 11 Birdies In The Round Most From Outside 15ft But A Few From Inside 7 Feet Or So. Was Quite Pleased With The Round Just Frustrated At How I Put It Together
  9. tyhanks for the advice i'll look into to it now
  10. im not that bad play off 5 my freinds are decnt players 13 and 18 respectively i was lookin at a possible holiday out there with maybe at least 1 round every day. not too sure on cost as i dont know what would be decent but i'd look to be spending around £1500 i think havent had all that much ofa look into it tho. just wandered wat people hwo play often say
  11. Were about would people reccomend on going to play in myrtle beach after reading this thread im thinking, about taking a trip there with a few of the lads but am clueless on were to play. and it seems a few people on here have a good knowledge of the area advice would be greatly appreciatted
  12. Unfortunately for Jack he missed the cut in what will be his final apperance at The Open. But what more could he have asked other than the reception he recieved at St Andrews and starting his opening hole and final hole with Birdies. Sure im not alone in saying he will sorely be missed, never personally got a chance to see him in a tournament just on television, but have got alot of respect for him, and what he has acheived
  13. Woods @ 280 was thinkin about puttin a bet on poulter to be top european they were offerin 22/1 which seemed quite decent, after his form at the scottish open last weekend
  14. A Nice Fade To A Green From About 180 Yards Never Fail To Hit That Shot
