  1. First off thanks to everyone who suggested the ShotScope. I’ve only played a few rounds but I’m already seeing the potential that ShotScope has to offer. One quick Q After my last round I noticed that the system recorded the wrong club for one of my shots. I figured out how to edit the club post round which was great. But I’m wondering what can I do while I’m on the course to reduce the risk of recording the wrong club or how do I correct to the right club? Thanks in advance
  2. @onthehunt526 this would be a great time for a fitting. You’ve been playing all season, so your swing is in good shape. On a side note, I’m playing T200s 4I-48Gap and like them a lot.
  3. @Carl3 you’re exactly on point. Stay within a shot, but don’t crowd the group in front of you. Regarding my fateful fivesome, the P5 plays about 570 and they were waiting for the group ahead to finish their approach shots. So they were easily 350-400 yards behind them from the tee. And trust me, not a one was going to break 250. And to your point, as the round progressed there was a full hole wide open between them and the foursome ahead of them. As to fivesomes in general, I don’t mind them if the group knows how to play ready golf, etc
  4. @snapfade. I didn’t think about asking the caddie to be the messenger — and in hindsight I should have just asked. Worst they say is no and then I just nip at their heels for the next 17 holes. Haha. If I was pressed for time, I would have jumped ahead, but I wasn’t in a rush so figured I’d enjoy the show. No better feeling than dropping a ball onto a P3 from the tee or just standing in the middle of the fairway on an approach shot knowing these guys are ahead of you.
  5. Thanks! Next time I’ll politely ask / tell that I’d like to play through. To your point, the worst they say is no, and then I just keep on their heels. Hahaha Complaining to the club is nbd for me. I’ve been there about ten years and the folks know me By the time they teed off, found their balls, and all took their second shot probably 15 min or so. It was brutal to watch. That said, I did get a bit of a moral victory on the par threes and landed each tee shot on the green right behind them.
  6. Okay. This is a minor rant but also an honest question. I was playing as a single on a quiet day and was asked to follow a fivesome that was about to tee off. Not a big deal. Anyway, I quickly figure out it’s two new members and three guests all in their late 30s or so. They decide to play from the tips, so I figure they’ll move pretty well — nope. First hole is P4 around 425 yards. Their drives go everywhere but the fairway, and longest drive was around 200. Putting was worse as they were lining things up like they were on the PGA tour and still three putting. I caught up to them at the second tee box P5 while they are waiting for next group to hit their approach shots - so basically, the group in front is 350-400 yards in front of them. I was hoping that they would let me play through — of course not. They were self absorbed talking about how much money they’re making etc. Anyway, I ended up chasing them around the course and they could easily see me waiting on them. I caught up to them a few times and not once did they offer to let me play through — and by now they were easily a hole behind the foursome ahead of them. Luckily, I was walking with a caddie (they used carts) so he saw everything as well. My question for the group. First, I’m glad to see new members joining clubs etc. But where do they learn etiquette? Not just ready golf, but fixing divots, don’t drag your putter on the green, etc. Second, how could I have asked them to let me play through without pissing them off?
  7. Well played. Actually, I have a few sources as it pays to diversify. It’s fair to say I have contacts in the right places, and I have a number of friends that are grateful for what I’ve done for them along the way. 😉
  8. Thanks! I’ll keep them in mind. Luckily, I’m still at a point where folks are giving me boxes of V1s as gifts. 😎 But I may try the sample pack out of curiosity or maybe become “the cool kid” at the course.
  9. @snapfade you’ve mentioned Snell balls a few times. Without getting flamed here what’s the interest in Snell balls? I’ve got a bit of FOMO on this one. 😀
  10. Wow is this an interesting thread. My swing is definitely a “stack and tilt” style of swing, and I’m 100% on it. As an amateur I like to keep things simple, and that’s what S&T does for me. So while others are trying to build a draw, fade, etc. I’m just looking for consistent down the middle ball flight. Dispersion is going to happen anyway.
  11. @saevel25 Not necessarily how to practice putting, but when I’m at the course I do a simple warmup drill just to get a sense of speed and distance. I drop 2-3 balls on a flat area of the practice green. Then I bring back my putter to just inside my back foot, and then stroke the ball. I then aim the next couple of balls at the first one using the same backstroke. I do this again but going back in the direction I started. Now I have a sense of how far the ball will go if I draw the putter back to inside my foot. I do this again at the outside of my foot. Overall it gives me a sense of distance for the day. My general goal is two putts on a hole. First putt to within 3’ and second putt into the cup. If I one putt that’s great, and it’s been helping me eliminate three putts
  12. Thanks @Darkfrog I paid closer attention to the videos and will look at the manual carefully. The pin collect feature will be very new to me
  13. Thanks @dennyjones for some reason I’ve always also used a traditional scorecard for pretty much the same reasons you’ve described. Plus I had a hard time managing strokes etc on my former system (Garmin CT10) Thanks @billchao I’m coming from the CT10 where the data was less helpful than I was expecting. Hoping to see an improvement in this to spot strengths and weaknesses
  14. Okay. Based in part on the overwhelming support for ShotScope from this group I purchased a X5. I just took it out of the box and started charging the watch. I’ll put the sensors on tmrw and start configuring stuff, and hoping to try them in a round on Wednesday. So … any tips or suggestions on how best to use the system? Thanks in advance
  15. I guess I’ll have to wait and see what options I have. Hoping that I can use an adhesive or a solution other than drilling. 🙂
  16. Perfect about the adhesive. I like the S60 a lot and Garmin watches in general but they can’t do golf sensors or make an app at all.
  17. Since you mention sensors one of my issues is that I use the SuperStroke grip with counterweight on my putter. It looks like Arccos has an elegant solution for this. I’m used to coming up with a home brew solution since I use CT10s but it’s never as clean as I’d like. Thanks for your thoughts. I have a Garmin S60 and like it a lot. The CT10 sensors have been a disappointment. That’s why I’m considering other options
  18. I’m impressed with how robust this discussion has been and would appreciate any opinions. If “cost were not an issue” would you still choose the Shot Scope platform (and X5 watch) over Arccos?
  19. Like I said. I’m asking ShotScope but thanks for your input.
  20. Yeah. I figured that out after I posted, and I couldn’t edit my post to correct it. Long story short, Apple Watch locks down their NFC to limited functionality (no surprise). I sent an email to ShotScope about whether their program could work with a NFC watch and Apple iPhone. I’m guessing “no”
  21. Thanks for the suggestion about Connex. I didn’t really pay attention to this option. But I looked a little more and it’s supposed to work with any watch that has NFC. So it might be a good compliment to a Garmin for me. I just downloaded this and will give it a try. If I go to premium subscription it’s offered at $50 because of some discount I have.
  22. Thanks @snapfade I’ll definitely consider it. If you have any thoughts on why you chose ShotScope over Arccos I’d be interested in knowing.
  23. Fair question, and I haven’t looked at ShotScope. But here are my thoughts I posted on a FB Garmin user group. If Arccos or Shotscope can address these issues I’d be open to considering them. 1. Average distances for each club weren’t as helpful as I expected it to be. While it is probably helpful for clubs you only use for full swings (driver, woods, long irons) when you start using clubs for different situations (chip, pitch, punch, etc) the distance information gets noisy. I know there is a way to delete certain shots so the data isn’t included but I don’t want to add extra work. 2. Tracking the round takes more time to clean up or monitor along the way than it’s worth. 3. The analytics like whether your approach shot is on the green, left, right, short, long, is something I can do on my scorecard. Same as tracking fairways from the tee, # putts, GIR.
  24. After a season of trying to work with a Garmin watch and the CT10 sensors, I’ve decided that the sensors aren’t as valuable as I thought in terms of data collection and analysis. So I’m going back to scorecards. Does anyone know of an app program that can help me track and synthesize analytics for information like whether your approach shot is on the green, left, right, short, long; fairways from the tee; # putts; and GIR? That said, I will still use my watch for distances. But then again I also have a rangefinder for that.
  25. Ah okay. For some reason I thought the subdivision was developed prior to the golf course, and the court reversed the trial court decision on an error related to the interpretation of the easement. That said I don’t have copies of decisions opinions etc. just random news items. And it’s fair to say that news sources don’t necessarily interpret legal work appropriately
