  1. Awesome. I'm off to the range tonight. Any other things I should be working on?
  2. Great! I will absolutely work on that. Is that video available yet. I've started with the big thread on that but haven't gotten to the end yet. Any other glaring issues? I mean, I know there are but any tips? Thanks so much for looking.
  3. Anything?
  4. Ooops. Video is public now. Sorry 'bout that. And my apologies about the video. It wasn't filmed straight on but slightly to my right. It makes it look like the ball is far back in my stance. I usually set up with the ball pretty much middle of my my stance for everything but drives. Thanks again for looking, guys. I really appreciate it.
  5. Got an ugly one for you fellas. I've been "playing golf" for almost 20 years as a 6-10-round-a-year-hack. I have gotten sick of sucking and have only really started to try and improve for the last few years with limited success. Currently, I'll score anything from 95 to 108. My typical ball flight is short, high and right although lately I'll spinkle in an embarrassing hook just to complete the misery. I've been working on eliminating fat/thin shots and focusing on getting more distance and consistancy. Hitting down and wrist supination at impact are my primary focuses and I thought i was getting somewhere until I saw the video. There is so much wrong with my swing that I figured I'd better get in front of a specialist ASAP before it was too late. My apologies for having to watch and thanks in advance for any help. Videos:
  6. Hey gang. Update: Just went into a round with my brothers on vaction in the Outer Banks with high hopes as I have been working diligently on my swing at the range for a couple of weeks. I had, literally, the worst round that I have ever had since I started keeping score. 118. I now have a hook. Used to be a slice but just as unpredictable. I am now totally unable to hit an iron. It's either totally fat (with a good bit of earth right under the ball) or skulled. The nearly 2 months of work I've done on hitting down on the ball have been a total waste of time as I am seemingly completely unable to hit down on the ball no matter what I do. Down days, fellas. Playing tomorrow and not expecting much different. Bummed.
  7. So if I keep the right elbow from bending 90 degrees, I'm there? Thanks fellas. I'll give it a go.
  8. Quick question on this. It seems like you can either keep your elbow in (to avoid the flying elbow) OR keep your right elbow straighter. I'm sure I'm missing something or misunderstanding. Any further guidance? Thanks all!
  9. Anyone have a vid that shows an example of this? I know I keep asking but thankfully, there seems to be millions of golf teaching vids and it helps a ton to see it.
  10. So a shorter swing is the objective? I've always thought that a big turn was the goal. I'm having trouble envisioning this straight right arm idea. It seems to me like the right arm is almost always bent in the backswing. Is there a video somewhere out there that illustrates the right arm extensor action? Thanks, gang.
  11. Cool way to think about it. But why do I suck so bad? Just kidding. That post helps.
  12. If you guys could recommend just 3 drills to improve your game, which would they be? Youtube links would be awesome. Thanks, gang.
  13. Touche, mon frere. Touche.
  14. This sounds horrible. lol.
  15. 1. Hit down on the ball/flat left wrist. 2. Straighten my slice 3. Break 85 4. Lag put better.
  16. Just venting I guess. I've been hacking for 20 years. Every year, I make a new committment to getting better. I hit the range 2-3 times a week, scour the internet for tips, usually dump cash on videos/clubs/aids and it never changes anything. I'll shoot a 92-98 no matter how hard I try to get better. The problem with me is that there are so many guys out there, teaching so many different things to think about that I'm in my address and there are so many things running through my mind to remember, it becomes white noise and I have no idea what I'm doing. I usually just leave the range saying, "Damn, I'm just always going to suck." Like I said, just a rant I guess. I just play with my 10 year old boy whenever I need a pick-me-up. I'll shank it into the woods 250 yds and he'll say "Man, you crushed that!"
  17. Cool, Ross. Makes sense. I have gone through the "legs together" and "one leg" videos and they really do help. Also the tip about just letting the ball "get in the way" of the swing is a really helpful image.
  18. That seems right. I know that my mechanics are far better with short irons than with the longer ones. I'm sure it a weight transfer thing that comes into play with a bigger swing. I looked at the Shawn Clements vidoes (some of them). He seems to really have some good tips and technique. The one question I have is this: Is it just me or does his swing seem incredibly bouncy. I've always tried to keep my back angle much straighter through the swing and he seems to bounce rather excessively. Anyone else notice that? Does it really matter?
  19. Thanks fellas. I'll check all that out. I've been meaning to video myself but have been avoiding it for obvious reasons. I'll post something up if the offer still stands. Is there a better place to do that? Thanks again, guys.
  20. Hey guys. I've lurked for a while and this is my first post. I've been hacking for years and score anywhere from 96-108. I've worked on my swing for years and always suffered from a driver slice and short long irons. It seems like no matter what I do, I hit all my long irons 150-170. I'm talking 4-8 irons. PW-lob are bearable but my long and mid game are problematic. I've been really working on forward hands/hitting down, rhythm and swing plane and I feel like my swing isn't all that far off - like I'm one or two little things away from the "ah ha!" moment. I just can't seem to break through. And you tube just seems to confuse the issue. There are so many instructors out there that stress so many different things it's amazing. What was it that pushed you from Crappytown into Goodplayerville? I'm not afraid of the range but it seems like I just continue hitting crappy there - just over and over. What really pisses me off even further is that I have 3 brothers that I play with and with the exception of my little brother (who is 41, lol), they all look like total idiots when they swing. Think DeNunzio. But they score and thus mock the crap out of me. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I have the feeling that my ceiling is much higher than those clowns and I'm committed to getting there. What to do to make some headway, fellas. I'm ready to break out of the basement!
  21. Anyone? Wondering how thick the plating is, I guess.
  22. I just got the GX 922 irons. I have been trying to figure out the right fairway woods to get an I've been a real pain in their a**. They've been awesome throughout the whole process. I love those clubs. They play fantastic and the customer service has been great. I'm sure it was an oversight and they wil bend over backwards to make it right. That's their thing.
  23. Just got my GX 922s from Gigagolf last week. Very nice. They look and play fantastic. The name is cheesy, if you ask me, but I don't really care. $194 (shipped)for custom made clubs with a 30 day play guarantee is sick for this level of equipment. The only people who shouldn't consider these are people who need to play big name clubs for the mental side of their game. Not saying it's right or wrong, just that these are made with the same 17-4 ss that their equivalents are made from - probably in the same factory. Love 'em.
  24. So with a chrome finish... does the chrome ever just scratch off? I have some new polished chrome irons and after a few trips to the wet sand traps, the sole on the SW is scratched up pretty good. Can I polish that out or is the chrome scratched off for good?
