  1. I was a long time player of 588 wedges, and went to CG10's the last time I replaced my wedges. IMO they offer more feel than the original 588 (can't comment on the recent new version). I have played my 56 degree CG10 for 2 full seasons, and it has worn just as well as the 588's. I tend to replace my 56 most often, as it get the most use.
  2. have you played / demo'd all three? I have only hit the MP-60's and loved them, but I'm an 11 cap and found the long irons a bit too much for my swing...i.e., I struggled to hit them well consistantly.
  3. can also blend a set of GI long irons with players shorter irons. Have a look at the bag reports of the tour pro's...many of them do that with GI 3 and/or 4 irons. I am leaning towards Mizuno MX-25 4,5,6 irons and MP-60 7,8,9,PW.
  4. MP-60's are a great iron. Feel is definately the best of the three you mention, but they are also much less forgiving...especially the longer irons. Didn't see your handicap, but if there is more than 1 digit, be cautious.
  5. B.T.W. i have not hit the 755's but have hit the MP-60's...no left handed 755 demo's in my area. In addition to feel, interested in how you would compare the forgiveness of the long irons to both mis-hits and trajectory.
  6. I have been considering the 755's vs the Mizuno MP-60's. I LOVE the soft feel of the MP-60's but am a little afraid of the long irons (i.e. would like a little more forgiveness). How does the feel of the 755's compare with the MP-60's?
  7. MP-60's are easily the best feeling of the irons you list, but also the least foregiving (with the exception of the 32's). I am also in the market, and am stuck between the MP-60's (with a possible substitue MX-25 long irons) or the 755's. The TM's and Calley's are just too busy looking.
  8. Thanks for the responses...consensus seems to be that it's not such a hair brained idea! Unless I find a good compromise (755's, X-20 Tours, R7-TP) that offer more foregiveness without the chunkiness of the MX-25's (but that's another thread) , the blended set may be my chioce.
  9. sorry...let me try that again Re. the comment re. MX-25 are the best set for my hcp...I tend to agree, and have spent a week hitting a full set of MX-25's. I really liked the feel, and control, but that thick soles in the mid and short irons really didn't suit me. I play a fairly firm course, and found the irons felt like they were bouncing. That said, the result was good. I still need to try the 755's...seem to fit in between the MP-60 and MX-25 in terms of head shape/size
  10. To respond to a couple of the points above...
  11. Anyone care to comment on the merrits / pitfalls of creating a blended set of irons...As an example one combination I am considering is MX-25 longs (4,5,6) and MP-60 shorts (7-PW). I'm an 11 hcp, and on my good days I'd love the 60's all the way through the set...on the bad days...not so much. I exchanged emails with customer service at Mizuno USA, and they said that the two irons have different center of gravity locations, which could lead to different swings for each. Their recomendation was to go with one set or the other. What I don't understand is why is this any different that my replacing my long irons with hybrids? That's even more different (shaft, cog, swingweight etc.) and everyone is linning up behind that concept. Anyone comments, or has anyone gone this route (with any brand...not just my example) and what are your experiences.
  12. My Cobra 440SZ Driver...I continue to be tempted by the new stuff, and likely will have to replace it this year, but I have had so much confidence swinging this cobra that Driving went from something I sweated on every tee, to being a club I don't even practise that much...it just keeps going down the middle!
  13. Based on how he drove the ball in the AT&T;, I don't think he will be switching anytime soon!
  14. I think it's great! The PGA tour should be for whoever is the best, ragardless of nationality or gender (sorry Michelle...that means you need to qualify). There's a great article by Hank Hene(Tiger's coach...don't know how to spell it) where he talks about the weakness of using the College golf programs as the primary training ground for top players. Offers a new (to me anyway) viewpoint on way the younge US players may not be as dominant as they once were. Anyway, back to the main point. Bring on the best, regardless of where they come from!
  15. Absolutely love it. Other tournaments should try and replicate this type of environemnt. Not only does it look like a ton of fun, it's a great way to get more non-traditional fans out to add some fun to the crowds. Don't think it's a good idea for the LPGA though...can you imagine the cat calls when the likes of Natalie, Cristie and Grace walked out to the tee.
  16. It's been a while since I have looked at what's out there, but I currently have an Ogio stand bag, and I love it. It's probably a little heavier that the Ping's, but I don't carry any more due to back problems. Used to be a devoted carrier, and had an Izzo bag. That was a great bag. I still think their straps are the best...I replaced the straps on my Oggio with Izzo straps before I stopped carrying. Good luck...lots of great products out there, and what is best for you may not be best for the rest of us.
  17. I agree completely. The "buzz factor" in particular seems to be a category specifically to advantage the big names. (although I agree that the big names do produce great gear). I think not only should Performance be more heavily weighted, it should be broken down into narrower categories such as workability, forgiveness, look at set-up, cutom options etc. Each of these should then be weighted according to the category being evaluated...for example forgiveness in a "players Iron" would get much less weight than it would for a "Game Improvement Iron".
