  1. Come on now... did you even read this thread? ;)

A broken collarbone sucks. There's no immobilization/ cast to speak of, correct? There wasn't when I did it anyway, just a padded harness thing that looped under both arms. Something i found to look out for: when it's healed enough that you are back at normal sedentary activity, be careful to remember that it's still broken even though it doesn't hurt. I remember sitting in school and a pencil would roll of the desk, I would instinctively reach out and grab for it, and go into a spasm or twitching pain because I had forgotten that my shoulder couldn't move that direction yet.
  3. I hit pretty quickly - usually 20-30 minutes for a small bucket (45 balls or so?) so more than a ball a minute. I've always approached new athletic skills this way; I find it necessary to immediately apply the feedback I just got (e.g. where the ball went) and tweak to adjust before I forget the motion as well as to repeat the parts that I may have just tweaked that seemed to work. Usually after I acquire some level of automatic motion, I'll slow down and get a bit more cerebral about parts of it, but for now I'm so early in the golf thing that I just need to keep hitting and develop a feel for how my movements/changes affect the ball flight.
  4. Thanks guys ;) I will post an update when I have an avatar and if any of my unsuspecting golf partners somehow find a ball in the woods.
  5. ... as soon as they rename the longest club in the bag the "slicer" and change the rules so that the object is to hide your ball in the woods so your opponents can't find it. Whose idea was this stupid game anyway? Sorry, just felt the need to post in response to the lurker call out thread ;)
  6. Ahh, I see. Thanks. Some Googling makes it all clear now.
  7. Sorry if this is a FAQ; it's too short to do a search on... what does GI stand for? I have been assuming Golf Industry, but what does this mean? And what is the opposite or alternative? For example: If you didn't want to buy a GI iron, what would you buy?
  8. any one read Golf in the Kingdom ?
  9. This thread is great. The Canadian and his steaming beer had me cracking up the middle of the night, and Stevie and Ray left me contemplative and appreciative of the different paths we all must take. Keep these coming!
  10. So, a bit of research reveals that "Walter Hagen" products are Dick's house brand. Dick's bought Golf Galaxy a while back, so that explains their presence there. They are made by Nicklaus Golf.
  11. Well, although the irons seem nicer, the driver is loads better than what I had been playing around with. I can't hit a driver to save my life tho. The 3 wood seems fine to this novice. I honestly haven't hit the hybrids yet.
  12. I had the same question, and ended up just going with the T3 because I had a $20 gift card to Dick's. I bought 'em today and love them so far. First set of clubs I've played with that weren't borrowed beaters from the 70's though. I wonder if they aren't just renamed for each retailer.
