    Meat Heads

I usually keep my conversation light and hold back on any cursing if I hook up with someone. You just never know the sensibilities of another person...As far as a cigar, I will light one up but make sure the smoke isn't blasting them in their face if I'm riding in the cart. If I come to guys like the ones you mentioned, I'd probably do as you did and keep my mouth shut and let my game do the talking. The only "meat head" story I have is about an old guy that I hooked up with at my local muni...I'm a fast player, but this guy was ridiculous. He would hit and take his pullcart and start walking before the rest of our foursome would tee off...he would leave the green after his putt and head to the next tee box before we were done on the green...he hit his drive OVER a slower twosome in front of us to speed them up...at the turn we left him and played the front over again. I don't mind ready play but not at the expense of distracting someone else's shot...
  3. Definitely, start out on the mild side. The R&J; is a great choice or try any mild Arturo Fuentes. I didn't think I would enjoy a nice smoke after a hearty dinner, but my friends and I really get a chance to appreciate the quality of the cigar(s) . A good cigar is a good balance (a pickup) to the digestion of a good meal (a downer) and the nice warm kick of a cigar adds to the good time.
  4. That's what get's me up in the morning of a round and keeps me going...Even though we are the first off in the morning, we play at a leisurely pace that allows me to enjoy the cigar. I usually light up on the putting green... The only other time I smoke a cigar is when I visit my local steakhouse and we light up outside in the patio after dinner...
  5. What's your favorite to smoke on the course? I have two I smoke on the course: Front Nine: Partagas Black Label Maximo (the appetizer) -Like an IV of expresso...an eye opener if you still got sleepy disposition Back Nine: La Gloria Cubano Series R (the asskicker) -not a cigar for beginners...this will either put smile on your face or make you hurl
  6. Anybody know if Golf Channel will be available in high definition tv yet?
  7. Most reputable golf stores should have them...Edwin Watts, Golfsmith, etc...
  8. Stupid long and straight...my brother in law just bit the bullet and bought one. I hit that monstrosity and it is hot and so easy to hit...just can't get past the look. That is why I ended up getting the Superquad...more traditional look (for a 460cc head) and just as long or longer than the FTi.
  9. Taylormade R7's...I have the CGB's which lean to the game improvement side, but if the standard R7's are anything like the CGB's then they are "hot faced", solid feel, and workable. I love mine... I've had the Wilson Ci6's and they were solid irons that were forgiving and workable. I have the Cleveland CG4's as a second set and they are great irons which are forgiving and very workable.
  10. If you hit the Hibore, hit the XL. I have all four (original Launcher, the Comp, and the Hibore) and the XL is a significant improvement to the regular Hibore. I'm keeping the XL for my Cleveland set I have at my vacation home (Philippines).
  11. If you can swing it, you might want to consider getting a used set of clubs that match your swing speed and upgrade the shaft in your driver. That would be less expensive than changing all the shafts in your iron set. Make sure you get in front of golf swing monitor to determine your swing speed... You can check ebay and find some deals on some forgiving irons like Cleveland Launcher irons...
  12. I play once a week and hit balls 1-2 times a week...not enough for either one...work, wife, kid(s) always seem to cool down my golf jones...
  13. I am not sure about it being any longer than any other grip, but it does promote for me a stronger grip that gives a tendency for a draw... I can still get a fade going by just moving my right hand to the left (seeing more knuckles) and opening my stance a bit...
  14. Thumbs up for Dead Solid Perfect!
  15. I have been on a Footjoy golf shoe buying binge...The quality of fit and finish is fantastic (as is the price) for both the Classic Dry Premier and the Classic tour. I recommend both...I've got 3 pairs and 2 pairs, respectively. I just ordered some myjoys for s__ts and giggles and expect them in about 5 weeks...and I'll give a review of those. If cost is no object, go with the Footjoy Classic Dry Premier or Classic Tours. The selection is varied and every pair I've ordered have been comfortable, provide a stable platform, and look fantastic.
  16. That's all I've ever used...It'll never get me to a pro status, but it let's me beat my buddies.
  17. On average 175 yrds
  18. If I'm warming up before a round, I only take my Cleveland Halo hybrids (1i, 3i, and 5i) and my driver. I only hit a small bucket, hitting equal amounts of each club...my first couple of swings are 1/2 to 3/4 swings, then I work my way up to full cuts. Then I go to the putting/chipping green and spend the rest of the time before the round...probably a total of 30 minutes. This gets me loose, but doesn't fatigue my hands. If I hit too many balls, my hands get fatigue and I start shanking...go figure. If I'm practicing, I start out with my SW and go through a progression up to my driver and back down to the SW. I only hit one large bucket maybe twice a week. The rest of the time is putting and chipping...total time 1hour 15 minutes.
  19. +1 I have the A1-M Heavy Putter and I love it...all my short putts I used to miss are a thing of the past. The only change I have to make is if I have to make a putt over 25 feet I switch to a baseball grip and open my stance, which makes long two putts relatively stress free.
  20. +1 I bought the R7 CGB's about a month ago. I love their forgiveness and their "hot" face. I can still turn them right or left if I have to, but I'm not that good that I can't stand to have as much forgiveness in my irons. I recommend them to anyone...
  21. I did what you are thinking...I went ahead and ordered two (2) 14 gram weights and placed them in the stock 1gm ports. I left the 12gm weights in the stock locations. Personally, I am not sure what these changes do to the swing weight or trajectory...the physics behind the changes would be nice to know. As a total feel player, I find the changes complimentary to my type of swing. I like the increased "head" weight because it forces me to swing smoother and in more control, which translates to a longer drive for me with less effort. The only other change I make is that I have to tee the ball up pretty low...but the ball still flies pretty high...go figure. Yo...techies! Throw me some knowledge on what the heck I'm doing. Overall, go fo it..the weights are relatively inexpensive and you can play with them in so many configurations that the inner golf range rat will be busy for weeks tweaking. PS The only other changes I made to the club is a switch to Winn grips (52 gram - medium/blue size) and I have stiff Stulz (65g-33/040 BP/Mid) shaft that replaces the stock. So based on these changes the, I am only adding 2 gm in the grip and 26gm in the head from stock.
